We used to really like this company. However, their customer service has gone from ok to terrible. We got a quote and have been trying to get ahold of someone for weeks with no reply or phone call back. Terrible customer service and such a disappointment.
These guys are the best. Fair prices, excellent work. I love working with Mengis HVAC.
This is our HVAC company from now on! We had some duct work under the house that needed repair. Chris from Mengis was on time, friendly, professional, and got the job done. He listened carefully to our description of the problem then went into the crawl space and returned with 3 options for the repair. After he did the work he came back with pictures of the fix - he even handled a rusted pipe issue that wasn't noticed until he got into the job! I really can't compliment him enough! Our usual maintenance company, plus 2 other HVAC companies I called, wouldn't do the work even though their websites list duct repair as a service. All the usual excuses...too busy, don't haven enough workers, and so on. Mengis will get our business now.
Mike was professional, prompt, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. We will definitely be using them.for all our heating needs!
THey went out to the home in mid- December and diagnosis that a new fan needed to be ordered for the fireplace. They left and never again contacted us. I emailed them on Jan 6 to check the status. No reponse. I emailed again Jan. 28. No response. I then went back on homeadvisor to get a repair company. Someone from the firm called me about the Home advisor request and said "Oh, i think we have been there". I said yes, you were going to order a fan but i have had to contact. She was going to check into it can call back. Again no call back. I emailed again on FEb 3 rd and no response. Not acceptable. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
He quickly identified the problem. Explained how the part worked. Then fixed it. Its nice to have a knowledgeable professional who is also friendly and patient. Thanks.

Many companies no longer have anyone who works on oil furnace. They have a person who does, they were able to get me fast, the office staff friendly, the technician who can out did so with very little notice to him. Very professional. Would hire again.
Theses guys are the only people I’m going to for my HVAC. They were timely and responsive and it was New Years! I called like 2 other places and the people were short and rude on the phone. Not Mengis. The guy helped out over the phone this time but has been out before over a year ago and provided amazing service. As long as I’m in Portland they’ll have my business.
I needed someone to inspect my heating system fast. I had a call from a wonderful representative within minutes of reaching out. They were prompt and professional. I would highly recommend Mengis Heating and Cooling.
They were available on short notice and willing to work with me and my housesitter while I was out of town. So grateful for their help. Fixed the problem in the first hour and no unexpected charges. We'll definitely reach out to them again if we have any other issues.
They were forthright about the cost and the timeline for our service. They did quality work and actually beat their own quote. Friendly on time service is hard to come by, and I don’t think I could recommend them highly enough. If you are a blue collar family who wants real service, these are your folks.
Local family business that shows up on time or better, good communication, courteous employees that share what they're doing and why at every step, along with what to expect. Highly recommend!

Andy's technician was friendly and professional. He thoroughly tested our heating system while winterizing our furnace. Great service!
We got an appointment within the week to fix our broken furnace. The technician diagnosed and fixed the problem within about an hour and was also willing to answer lots of general questions about our furnace and how we should maintain it. The cost of the service was super reasonable as well. Super smooth experience, would definitely use them again!
So pleased with Mengis. They went where others wouldn't go. Most HVAC companies won't install a mini-split that the customer supplies. That's so they can make money on the unit itself. Mengis is an exception! They worked really hard all day - a team of 4 workers. Their fee was very fair - and they were able to get me into their scheduled pretty fast. They showed up on time and showed nothing but professionalism. They explained the way that they were going to vent it and took the appearance as well as function into account. They cleaned up before leaving. I don't think anyone else could have done as good a job. Plus they are very personable!
After our furnace started having issues (vibrating and emitting a burning smell), we contacted Mengis heating. They returned our inquiry call promptly, and were able to come the next day. Upon their arrival, our technician (Mike) quickly found the problem. A piece in the furnace had been installed incorrectly by the manufacturer, which led to it shaking loose and slicing through some wires! Mike then took the time to drive to the manufacturer, get a replacement part, initiate the process to have the part covered by warranty, and then returned to our house and completed the repair. It was so nice to have the entire situation handled, including the warranty paperwork! They truly went above and beyond. I highly recommend Mengis heating for their prompt response, quality repair, going above and beyond, and reasonable pricing.
This was my first time using them and they were great and did a fantastic job installing our water heater. Left everything clean when they were done. I will use them again and recommend to my family and friends
*Called Mike to come to my mom's when my sister was home alone. Her ac went out and he was able to squeeze her into his busy evening. He then came the next day to repair the ac and emailed my Mom the bill so she could pay even though she was out of town. *Mike has been to our house also to give an estimate to install vent flaps. They are very professional and would highly recommend. *Called the office recently for our furnace, girl who answered was very nice and was able to get us on the schedule the next day.
