Had a sudden water leak happen on New Year's Eve. I rang Jacques and he was out in no time to trace the problem and repair the leak. Jacques was very professional, answered all questions and did not leave until he completed the job. He is great and prices are very reasonable. I would not hesitate to call on his services again.
On Christmas Eve, water began rushing from the closet where my eater heater and HVAC are. Then the hot water went out. Not great signs. I contacted one of the bigger companies in the Midwest. They sent out an associate who only gave an estimate for work they would do the next day. Going without hot water on Christmas was going to be a little inconvenient, so I decided to try a few more options. Jacques was quickest to respond (and beat their estimate by a couple hundred dollars). I called around 2pm, I think, and he showed up at 4pm with a new water heater (after being slowed down by getting suppliers to show up on Christmas day). Everything was installed in about an hour and a half, and I haven't had any issues. I even waited a couple days to make sure I was in the clear. Can't go wrong supporting small Black-owned business.
Jacques was punctual and well mannered. I showed where the hearing unit is and he proceeded to inquire as to the work that was needed. He took care of the humidifier, then drained the water heater and performed maintenance on the heater unite. He is pleasant and personable. we are pleased with the work her performed. Thank you
Jacques is a LIFESAVER!!! Our water heater sprung a leak and flooded our basement. There was no shut off valve installed from the previous owner so we had to turn off the water main to our entire house. Jacques was so quick to come over, take out the old water heater, and install the new one... BY HIMSELF. That’s tough work! There were also some road bumps along the way that he handled quickly and professionally! (leaky valves, slow drains) He’s really personable and made the time that he was here a real pleasure. We were very appreciative that we were without water for the amount of time that we experienced... because it could have been much longer without Jacques’ help! We will be sure to request him for any future needs that we may encounter in the future.

The plumber showed up when I was told me he was going to be there. He was prepared with the proper tools to get the job done. My sewer had backed up into my basement overnight and Honest Abe's was there in the morning to rod the sewer out. While he was there, he noticed that the drain to my laundry tub was slow, so he cleared that as well. This was my 3rd time using this company and they are consistently excellent at what they do.
Jacques saved our day! We had a sump pump failure and after replacing it the bathrooms were filling with sewage water. He was able solve our unusual problem. There was a blocked pipe from a nut that a squirrel put in the roof vent. He was very responsive and affordable.

It’s a good company. They installed two Kohler toilets for us a while back. Were quick, efficient, and thorough. Arrived on time too. Overall, work was done well. Price was fair. Satisfied customer here. 👍

Jacques was great! He responded right away to our no hot water emergency and installed a hybrid instant hot water / tank right away. I was incredibly impressed with his state of the art equipment, like using solderless connectors that made his installation fast and efficient. I recommend highly!
Jacques performed some tricky installations very efficiently, very well and at reasonable prices. He retrofitted plumbing for and installed the new kitchen sink & disposal with new countertops above and 1958 plumbing below. He managed to reuse the expensive faucet I like, too, keeping it in perfect condition. He cleared out the old hot water heater and installed a tankless water heater that required running new pipes (one through an outside wall) and adapting a lot of complex options to my site. He knew them all. I highly recommend Honest Abe's. They just quietly do things right. Number one plumber on my A-list.
Yesterday my family had an emergency. Our water heater had broken down. We called this place & the owner came right out. My issue it’s not with the job that he did. But with him not wearing a mask. Initially I noticed via our doorbell camera that he had a piece of fabric covering his face & mouth. However he took it off shortly after. My boyfriend even asked him to please wear a mask while he was in our house. He provided him with two masks, and he agreed to wear one. After wearing the mask for a short period of time he once again returned from outside without a mask & proceeded to work in our home. In this times it’s very unprofessional to make customers feel unsafe & uncomfortable in our own home. Now we are left to take precautions to make sure that we maintain healthy & free of Covid-19. Lastly, our camera in the basement showed him sitting on top of our expensive washing machine & he did not clean up before leaving. Overall he did a good job, however his behavior with not wearing a mask was unacceptable.
Jacques did a great job of unclogging a truly impressive obstruction in the drain. Showed up on time, was friendly and charged reasonable fee. Will definitely call again!
Honest Abe (aka Jacques Bourgoin) solved many problems with my heating system, and water heater, when I lived in Old Town, Chicago. Especially helpful was the installation of thermostatic controls programmed to match several "zones" in a complicated old house with two furnaces (one of them a hot water boiler), that served 3 floors and a basement. He was willing to come out on short notice, to fix problems, at minimal cost. I also enjoyed talking with him about topics other than business, because his experience and ideas are broad based, and informative, and his manner very pleasant and helpful.
We had both water heaters fail at the same time. I called another company and was quoted a very high price with no alternatives. Based on the reviews, I called Jacques. I’m so glad I did, he came over assessed the situation, gave me a much better price and installed them both that evening. I’ve called him for other projects as well. He’s personable, Honest : ), And a great plumber.
