The folks at Green City have been Absolutely amazing. I’d highly recommend working with them. They were super responsive, easy to work with, and extremely proficient.
Green City installed a Daikin ductless system for us in May 2017. The install didn't pass inspection because they used the wrong-gauged wire, so they hired someone to come out and replace the wiring since it was a fire hazard. Flash forward 5.5 years later, and our system showed a code that we were out of refrigerant (which is likely due to a system leak, and not covered under warranty). I wish I would have called around because their service call was $35 higher than the next local competitor. Their initial "fix" only lasted 10 days, so I called back for a leak test. The price seemed high, and they didn't offer any kind of discount for past customers. They also couldn't get me in for 4 days, during a cold spell with below-freezing temperatures forecasted. I called around and found another certified Daikin dealer in the area with even higher customer ratings who quoted less than half the price of Green City, and they were available sooner. To add insult to injury, when I called Green City to make the leak test appointment, they reminded me that I had an outstanding balance. We were still within the 15-day payment terms and the check had already cleared my bank.... never mind that I had a good payment history with them, and the $12K+ that I paid for the original system was paid in full. I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere!
I contracted with Green City in 2021 to install a second split unit system, but due to supply shortages there was a long delay in getting the equipment. When I became tired of waiting they promptly returned my deposit. So in 2022 they were one of the companies I contacted for bids. Not only were their prices the best, but they also were by far the most responsive. The other companies tried to steer me to setups I really didn't want. Green City also gave me bids for numerous options for the type of install I did want. And this time the equipment was readily available and the install scheduled very quickly. This was my second split unit setup, intended to add additional capacity. I found the installers to be much more competent than the company I used previously. Very happy with their work.

Kyle was honest, reliable and trustworthy. They do what they say they will do and put customers first. They treat you like family and make sure you are satisfied with thier service. We are so happy to have picked this company to replace our 25 year old furnace. Strongly recommend them.
My furnace was down and of all the heating companies I called, Green City had the lowest diagnostic and hourly rates for repair so I hired them. They came out exactly when they said they would (on time) and only charged me for the diagnostic fee (no hourly charge) and fixed the furnace. Repairman was clean, neat and very nice.
It's been since September 20th since the initial call to fix a heater. It's still unfinished work. After 4 visits and a good deal of frustration. I think I'm done.
Green City installed a central AC unit in my house. As part of their estimate they promised the installation of a 110V outlet next to the unit. This was not installed, I pointed it out to the installer, he said the electrician was already gone but Green City would send someone. They never did. Later the Des Moines City inspector pointed out the need of an outlet and did not approve the inspection. I have contacted Green City numerous times since. They always promise to talk to the electrician but nothing so far has happened. Terrible customer service.
Had Green City install a new Daikin 4 zone mini split unit on my house. 3 ton unit. I'm very happy with the unit and install. Price was very reasonable. Install crew was great. No problems at all, and now my 4000 square foot house is nice and cool!!! A very efficient and high quality system.

Green City Heating & Air Conditioning Inc. came out yesterday and fixed my boiler! I GIVE THEM A MILLION THUMBS UP!! Not only were they cheaper than NW Mechanical, the technician told me I don't need a new boiler! NW Mechanical tried to sell me one 4 years ago (for double the cost that Green City told me it would be). I recommend you call Green City if you have any heating or air conditioning needs! BONUS!! Megan, from Green City offered to come out and bring me space heaters if the part didn't come in yesterday. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE BEST!!
Extremely happy with Green City Heating. We needed a new gas furnace (converting from an oil furnace) and we needed additional heating and cooling options for our second floor very badly. Our house dimensions and setup presented enough challenges to be a bit of a pain in the rear but the owner, Jeff, helped us figure out the best solution for our needs and Alex and Matt, the guys who did the work, were great at problem solving the install. We ended up with a new furnace installed, gas line for a kitchen range plumbed, and a ductless heating and AC unit installed for our second floor. They were great guys who did a very professional, neat job with two dogs and a toddler on their heels. No problems at all from start to finish, great communication, and Jeff followed up to make sure we were happy. We are!
These people we're very professional, did good and timely work and were also less expensive than some I contacted. I recommend talking with them before you start your project.

PHENOMENAL SERVICE, GREAT WORK AND REALLY GOOD PEOPLE! After moving into our first home, we discovered Green City Heating on Angie’s List and purchased a coupon for a furnace tune up. We had some initial mishaps with scheduling, but the company was excellent about taking responsibility and making amends. They sent a tech out the following Saturday to complete the job and even refunded the price paid for the coupon. Unfortunately, a week later, the igniter on our furnace stopped working (it was a very old furnace and had been giving us problems since the day we moved in). I called Green City to see if they could send tech out to try and get the igniter started again as a temporary fix. We knew we needed to replace the furnace, but our finances were strapped as we had just bought the house (read: moneypit) that same month and had experienced multiple problems that needed immediate fixes. Now, we were without heat and I have a 3 year-old son and am currently 4 months pregnant which made it a really, really stressful time. Green City to the rescue! They sent Trevor to check the igniter and he was all-around amazing. A very respectful, knowledgeable and incredibly hard working guy. The furnace was definitely on its last legs, but he spent close to an hour working on the unit until he got it to light again. We discussed options for a more long-term fix, which involved either ordering new parts for the faulty igniter or replacing the unit altogether. A few days later, I received a call from Green City asking how our furnace was running and if we still had heat. I said that yes, the igniter was still problematic but at least it was functioning, which would hopefully buy us some time until we could afford to replace the unit. Then, they delivered some unexpected news: apparently each year, GCH’s owners Katrina and Jeff gift a free furnace around the holidays as a way give back to the community. I highly recommend Green City Heating & Air Conditioning. I own a 10-year old home with a large furnace, central air, and a water heater which also heats some of the floors. I found Green City on Angie's List. Since then Green City has had to service my HVAC systems 5 times in the last year. Two visits were free because the work was related to a previously paid for problem. Time and again (as recently as today) Green City repeatedly does a great job at a fair price.
Our furnace stopped putting out heat despite the air still blowing. I assumed it was an issue with the ignition system and was figuring $300-500, I even told the lady setting the appnt that they should bring the replacement parts so it wouldn't have to be two different trips! Well, they came out the same morning I called (!) so that my kids wouldn't have to sleep in the cold/with loud space heater fans blowing in their faces all night. He asked me a few questions and then basically told me its just a maintenance issue and no repairs were needed. He even showed me how to use a paper clip to clear the tiny clogged port that was causing all the problems. Then, he eyed the ducts and spotted that the exhaust ducts were duct-taped at the base and pointed this out to me as a bad thing (carbon monoxide leak). He cut some new ducts and did all the work, even did a light cleaning of the system and looked over everything to ensure it was all good. Needless to say, my final price was WELL below my expectations (min appt fee which was quoted over the phone plus some extra for the work which all seemed extremely reasonable). He was quick to also give tips on how to avoid HVAC cleaners who are just out to scam and told me what things they'll say to scare/scam you and was very nice, clean and organized in his work. Couldn't be happier and will be recommending to all my neighbors!
