Clogged toilet took them 12 mins to repair. $448 was the bill. 12 frigin mins? Im a senior citizen. I was told the owner may give me a $100 refund but still waiting for his call.
Chris is a HVAC and Plumbing journeyman and his professionalism was outstanding. I will be using Gervais for my boiler system service from now on. Knocked this review down by two stars in 2023 because another technician failed to diagnose a problem with the boiler ignition system (found and fixed by another company) but they still charged me over $300 for the "effort."
I hired Gervais to move a pipe for steam heat that ran up to my daughters room and it was in the way when I had a picture window installed in my living room. $1500 later nothing but issues. The next day after it was moved I had a pool of water underneath my new window. They came out the next day and said there was a leak and the issue was fixed. That night when we turned the heat on steam engulfed my daughters room where the pipe they moved was located in. They came out a couple days later and said there was a pin hole in the radiator. It was obviously damaged during the installation, never had issues in the 7 years we lived there. The technician told me he would speak to the office. Two days later we get a quote for $1100 to have it fixed. For two weeks I would call and was told someone would call me back. No call. Called and finally asked to speak with a manager. The manager told me they were not responsible since my pipes had rust and could damage other parts during the installation. The part has light rust if that, Told him it was unacceptable, and he said he would talk to his technician and get back to me the next morning. It is now 4 days later never received a call. Court is the next option at this point. I would strongly advise not to use this company. It seems to me their common practice is to damage parts and then blame the issue on ”rust” and then charge a ridiculous amount of money to fix the problem they caused. If you have issues good luck with trying to speak with someone who can help. The pipe connects to the radiator, unless you have some type of magical tool that you can magically remove the old pipe and install the new pipe without touching the radiator. Perfect example why you should not use this company, 3 weeks of trying to get a hold of someone to discuss the issue and promises of a call back with no luck. Not even 24 hours and they respond to a bad review on Google. Stay away.
I needed a plumber to look at several tankless water heaters that were not producing hot water. We agreed that they would come on 1-5-22 I think. The morning of that same day they called to reschedule for 1-11-22 for 9am. The morning of 1-11-22 they called again to tell me it’s going to be 12noon. OK. I waited for 2 hours from 12 to about 2pm and no one showed up. I left them 2 messages during that time thru an answering service but they were at lunch. Finally I spoke to Marci from their office about all these cancellations and them being so late and not answering. Also I had tried to get them to tell me how much they charge before 1-5-22 and again before 1-11-22. They refused to say. Apparently they wait until they are already inside your house to slap you with their price when you have already waited and waited and they got you by the you know what and you are much more likely to agree to pay. I pushed Marci to do the right thing and tell me how much their hourly rate is for labor before they come and she said that they don’t charge by the hour, it all depends what materials you need for the job. I asked how much assuming I don’t need any materials and she said it’s about $325 for the first hour !!!!!!! and then if another hour the price will be about $500 !!!!!!! Wow. I feel their system is intentionally confusing. Because I was rescheduled twice and waited for more than 2 hours on 1-11-22 I asked that they fix this hot water situation for “only” $250. Marcy agreed and told me she would call me in “5 mins”. The 5 mins turned into about 30 and then she called me to tell me that maybe someone will come at around 4:30pm. I said no because I had other scheduled things already for 4:30pm. My whole day was ruined in waiting. What a disappointing company and what a dishonorable business model.
Outstanding service. I spoke with Tim Scarfe to replace my failed furnace and within 24 hours it was installed! Great price and technicians Jacob and Sam were super! My gratitude to Gervais Plumbing for heat this cold February night!
This business is in the business of selling/repairing/servicing the latest and greatest HVAC systems. Not, the older ones. Their fees are high to come onsite and see, but the feel is you should go new. I will not use them again and will be looking for a company who wants to fix and not to up-sell. The only positive/great service from my experience are the ones who answer the phones.
VERY expensive! Basically had my dryer vent cleaned from the dryer up thru the attic and outside and vent pipes re taped. No other parts. Took a couple of hours. $750…wow. Service tech was awesome.
I hired Gervais to do a 4 head/2 condenser mini split install about a couple years ago. While there were a few bumps in the road with the initial install (not super uncommon for larger jobs), the owner did the right thing each time. Most recently I had issues where some of the units stopped working (nearly a year after the 1 year warranty expired), he reached out quickly and someone came out near immediately and rectified the situation. Though unfortunately after contributing to see and understand more defects I'm finding with the install I cannot rightfully recommend this company to anyone.
I called this company to send a technician out so I could get a general assessment on my combi boiler. We just moved into our house this year so I wanted a professional opinion on what our boiler needed for annual maintenance and when we should think about replacing it. Gervais booked me quickly and conveniently and technician was out lickety-split, which I was very pleased with. However, when he arrived he said he wasn't properly set up to provide me pricing for a cleaning or any maintenance, and he didn't have any tools to do any sort of work during that appointment so I would have to call the office back to get an actual cleaning scheduled. I was charged $268 in total for this consultation with no work performed, which I was not informed I would be charge when booking the appointment. I appreciate the expertise and the knowledge the technician provided during the appointment about when I should think about replacing my system and different ways to do it - so I definitely found some value in this appointment - but $250+ for no work performed and he didn't even leave me with any options or pricing for maintenance seems a bit steep. I wish Gervais would better prepare their technicians for assisting their customers in the field before they send them out. I would've happily bought a cleaning that day if he was prepared to do it and for the price of the consultation I should think they would at least be willing to call *me* to get the cleaning service I want scheduled. Technician was great, just not set up for success. Hopefully this is not the typical experience. I'd be willing to give them another shot, but I know to ask about price for dispatch and whether or not a technician will be prepared to provide options or do work same day.
Installation of new furnace went smoothly. Friendly and professional workmen. Responsive to a particular need we had, and did not leave until the issue was to our satisfaction. Kept the work area clean and disposed of debris. Very happy with workmanship. Thank-You Gene!
Overpriced $$$$$ and TOTALLY Unreliable new to area , w New furnace install - Gervais rescheduled 4-times , 1st was a no show-wasted day off then reschedules continued over 7wks and when my old furnace died they rescheduled again leaving me no furnace entering December- labor quote was 7k$ for 1-1/2 day work -F-U ! Gervais- worst worst, worst experience in my 40yrs as homeowner- totally unreliable-I was expecting a bang-out job for the quote- Gervais is a cluster fk!
I had a minor heating emergency in my second home I called Gervais at 7am, and they had a service tech at my home by 8am and resolved the problem. Thank you Gervais.
I’m pleased to recommend Gervais Plumbing and heating. A service tech installed a new water heater the afternoon before Thanksgiving .He was polite, prompt, and professional. I’ve used Gervais Plumbing and Heating several times before because of their great service, and will continue to do so in the future.
Gervais is friendly and responsive, even during very busy times of the year. We called them to troubleshoot a condenser not working during a heatwave. Nate was fantastic. The root cause of our trouble was hard to locate, and in our attic -- he poked around everywhere until he located it, it must have been VERY hot but he pushed through it until he figured it out. Also shared some really helpful tips and answered all my new homeowner questions. I'm really grateful and will continue to call Gervais in the future!
Worse company to have residential work done -not professional at all, I'd not use them again. Had a fireplace gas line install back in June and now going into September still waiting to finalize the work ; I been calling the office to get update - “Josh “ who suppose to do the inspection keep dragging the work every time I get a hold of him —blaming the town inspector — I wouldn’t recommend them at all.
On time, professional, reasonably priced. I'd use them again. Had a water heater needing replacement; they took care of it with a minimum of hassle, no nonsense, and didn't try to upsell.
ALWAYS ask for CHRIS and you’ll be all set.. fantastic work ethic and a super nice guy. Work finished in a timely manner. Other tech’s weren’t able to detect issues but Chris came and saved the day. He’s the reason I will return to Gervais. Thank you, Chris!
This business is a joke, about years ago i had my natural gas furnace replace by gervais, did not pass the first inspection, and after that I have call the office so many times and always put on hold, can you imagine pay almost $ 9.000,00 to have an incomplete job, no mention the disrespect as customer. about 6 months ago I wrote my first review, so some one called me apologizing saying that he took over as manager and ask if I go back and rewrite my review I say no way I will wait for the job be done, don't hear back from him since them.
Very professional and helpful. He found the leak, fixed our sinks and gave some good recommendations on other projects that need attention. Will be glad to have him out again as we continue home improvement work.
Nate worked on our hvac system today. He was warm, courteous (offering to wear a mask) and patient while he carefully explained in laymen’s terms what we needed to know about the reparations and maintenance- present and future (options/upgrades). He explained all the work he did and sent an email stating the same with the invoice attached on the spot. He was thorough and i feel he is trustworthy. We will certainly continue to use Gervais.
