Tom was awesome! Personable, he explained what he was doing while doing it. Yeah, probably could have DIY'd, but Tom's professionalism means I didn't have to guess whether it was motor, controller or wiring, he fixed the problem right off.
Thom has saved our old heat pump from near-death several times. He is professional and explains things to you. He knows exactly what is wrong from my explanation due to his experience. I highly recommend him.
Thom had performed excellent work for me in the past so when my furnace quit today I called him. He patiently walked me through a troubleshooting exercise over the phone and the problem was resolved. I can't overstate the value of this approach over having to schedule a service call and wait for a response. This was great old fashioned, customer friendly service. Thanks so much!
Tom is such a kind and helpful person. I called him this morning after our thermostat stopped working over the weekend, preventing us from turning on the heat. Instead of just scheduling an appointment, he asked us a couple of questions and made a suggestion based on the make and model of our thermostat. He said if that didn't work after a few hours, to call him back. That trick didn't work so I called back. He provided two options: 1) he comes over and replaces our thermostat or 2) he explains to us how to replace our thermostat over the phone. We went through option 2 and we now have heat! Tom could've easily just booked an appointment and made a few hundreds off the appointment, but instead he was kind enough to help a couple of new homeowners with their first HVAC issue. I'll definitely recommend Tom to anyone else with HVAC needs!
Tom was great! I called past 5pm with an emergency AC outage and he was able to arrive before 8am the next day and fixed the problem in minutes. Very professional. Highly recommended!
Lucky for us, Effinger was on a sticker on our heating system when we purchased this home 6yrs ago. Thankfully, When I called the first time, he responded quickly, was polite and reasonably priced. After many calls over six years, that last heat wave a couple of weeks ago, was the last time Tom worked his magic to get the last little bit of life out of our aged HVAC. He recommended replacement at that time. He was also helpful in recommending several contractors in the area that would be fair and reliable to work with. As of yesterday, we have a new HVAC system and are literally in awe that Tom was able to keep that old dinosaur running as long as it did! Many "THANKS " and know that we will ALWAYS recommend Effinger Heating and cooling!
Can't be happier!!! 101° outside and the AC went out on SUNDAY!!! Called around 1PM and was back in business by 4PM with the AC unit serviced and back to work. Coming from a professional this is the guy you want to call! Saved to favorites!! Thank you so much now we're back at 70°. The price was more than reasonable by the way, for those wondering.

In a world full of sketchy HVAC companies, this guy is the honest one to call to get things done. He is a pro! He wont overcharge you, and he will always try his best to advise you towards the best solution to your problem. I just had a beautiful new heat pump and furnace installed, and I have had Thom Effinger repairing my older systems for years at multiple locations. He mostly likes to repair systems, but he just finished a new installation for me today, along with a friend of his that did the duct work.
Can’t say enough good things! Thom has helped us out twice, and each time he was able to come out that day and fix our issue the same day. We wouldn’t think of using anyone else!

Will be recommending him to everyone. Are AC unit died on us and. We called Jacobs heating and air to come out,They charged us$1000 to fix who know what! And still no AC. and we had to wait another month before they could come and give an estimate to “replace our hole unit!” So I got a second opinion and Thom Effinger got right back to me and came out that afternoon and fixed my AC and he just fix what was wrong and fix an issue that the other guy messed up. And told us no don’t replace the hole unit, saving us thousands of dollars! thank you Thom We made it thru that crazy heat wave nice and comfortable.
Last Sunday my mother's a/c went out. Temperature's went above 100 degrees on that day. I knew on Monday that it was going to be even hotter. I was desperately calling everybody that I could find on a google search. Everyone was booked out for two weeks. I was giving up. Miraculously I gave this guy a call and he was able to arrive in less than ten minutes after I called. 10 minutes after he arrived my mother's a/c was working again. His price was well below what others were going to charge me. He was quicker, and cheaper. He knows what he's doing. I'm using him from here on out. Friendly guy as well. Very professional.
I had a recurring problem with my furnace that three previous techs from two other companies could not figure out. We were ready to replace a 5 year old furnace before I gave Effinger H&C a call. He was able to determine why it kept failing when other qualified people could not, and then fixed the problem for good. I could not possibly be more impressed and grateful for the work. Very reasonably priced as well.
I can't possibly say enough good things about this company. My 24 year old air conditioning unit quit cooling once the temperatures climbed. I called the company that evening and Thom answered the phone. He got to us in a timely matter and fixed our problem right away. Now that we have been experiencing 100 degree temperatures this week I could not be more grateful that Effinger Heating and Cooling was able to fix our unit last week. Give them a call, you will be glad you did.
