Anybody else remember that old TV show Touched by an Angel? Yesterday’s experience with David from Cobalt Heating and Air Conditioning played out like one of its episodes. My wife and I have become more familiar than we ever wanted to be with the Los Angeles HVAC world; two other companies attempted to address our chronically dysfunctional central air unit, succeeding only in destroying our property and charging us large sums of money. Frustrated and disbelieving that our unit was somehow beyond help, I asked an acquaintance who builds homes for a living who to hire. His response was a grim one, assuring me that good HVAC companies are basically nonexistent and that there was no one he could recommend. When the problems with our unit recently escalated to where it was no longer producing cold air, my wife had the idea to reach out to the former owner of our home (who we have become very friendly with, and who deserves a five-star review of her own); she recommended David. David was able to come to our home the day after we called him. He is intelligent, well-mannered, conscientious and honest. Speaking with him felt so different from the other HVAC people we had had the misfortune of dealing with. David took the time to determine what was wrong with our unit, and to explain the various options for correcting the issue. David was extremely communicative throughout the process. He worked all day until our issue was fixed, without even taking a break to eat (which we would have been totally fine with). Every time he reentered our house after getting supplies from his fully-stocked truck, he relocked our front door behind himself, which other service people almost never bother to do. David is hardworking and extraordinarily knowledgeable in his field (he was thorough in his explanations of everything, clearly conveying information that the guys from the other companies either could or would not). This is one of the best companies I’ve worked with. David installed my AC and vents and did a fantastic job. Now he maintains the system and comes out anytime I have a problem or need anything. He really knows his stuff. I would highly recommend this company.

Dave the owner is great he is very thorough, professional and most importantly an HONEST man who is very passionate about his work. I recommend Dave to my Mom who was having issues with her mini splits and got quoted from other companies almost charging double of what Dave charged for the work she needed my mom was very stressed about the cost and Dave explained all the issues and parts that were needed and made her feel at ease and went way above and beyond compared to the other companies she got estimates from. From now on He is permanently my families go to for HVAC Heating/Cooling needs you should definitely give Dave a call it’s worth your time and the quality of customer service will surpass your expectations.
My husband & I had David Earls come to our home for heating maintenance & another time for A/C. David was nothing but polite & very knowledgeable in what he does. We will definitely be calling David back again for any heating or A/C needs that may occur :)

During the summer of 2018, our AC worked great. It's a 7 year old Rheem, visually looks to be in great condition. June 8, 2019, we turned it on for the very first time and the air was not cold. Like always, I turned to Yelp to find a highly rated AC professional that was honest and fair. Cobalt Heating and Air had 10 five star reviews, and had been a licensed contractor for four years. I called and made an appointment for June 11, 2019, between 9-11am for a $99 diagnostic fee. The 10 Yelp reviews praised David, the owner, for great work. At about 9:30am Jose arrived. He was polite and professional. He spent a considerable amount of time checking the system and on the phone. His diagnosis was the system was low on refrigerant, and due to the compressor/fan being relocated a year prior, I had two potential scenarios. 1. I have a refrigerant leak causing low pressure and they system is not cooling. 2. Due to the previous company extending the lines, the system was in need of additional refrigerant. Jose gave me the following two options: 1. $249 for an electronic leak detection device, the unknown cost to repair a leak if found and $249 for adding 1-3 lbs. of refrigerant. (This option was not guaranteed to find small leaks.) 2. $599 to add dye into the system and check for leaks, unknown cost to fix leak and $249 or adding 1-3 lbs. of refrigerant. While contemplating this decision, Jose said the $99 would be applied to the repair and if I chose option #2 it would fix my air conditioner. I gave him permission to proceed with option #2. I heard him call David and tell him multiple times, "Yes $599." David showed up, added the dye and about an hour later said I have no leaks, they added 18 oz of refrigerant and gave me a bill for $949.00. Almost no insulation covering the copper piping was removed and I have no idea how you check for leaks not looking at the pipe. Meanwhile, the air coming out of my ducts was still warm. David arrived within the three hour window he originally gave. He had treats in his van for my dog, and even looked into food allergies and bought the type lease likely to cause problems. He investigated and hopefully fixed an on and off problem that was hard to diagnose. If by chance it's not fixed, he has a game plan for next time. He was professional and personable.
I had major issues with cooling in my brand new home. Cobalt Home Services did an evaluation and discovered that the developer cut multiple corners. They provided a detailed invoice and explained exactly how they arrived at their conclusion. I would highly recommend them for your cooling/heating issues. David will guide you throughout the entire process. You should not hesitate contacting him with any questions.
David Earls is one of the most professional service providers I have ever used. I contacted David to install my Nest Thermostat and he arrived on time, installed it in a timely manner and was very conscientious about setting all the features and explaining them to us as well. Also, David went the extra mile and even helped me in changing a very difficult to reach light Fixture and no additional charge . I would highly recommend David from cobalt home services to anyone.
