We had Bryant perform their semi-annual service on 4/21/23. The technician arrived and began his normal checks. He came back in from checking the heat pump and said it was okay, but the defrost board had gotten a little hot (I was told by the previous technician last year and it was fine). I never saw him take any equipment normally used to check the heat pump (current meter, pressure gages, etc) out there. Eventually he told me there was black fungus in the air handler and that the coils probably needed cleaning. When I asked the cost, he told me (without laughing) that it was $403 (not $400 or $405, but $403). I told him I would think about it and he said if it was done unscheduled, it would probably be another $80. So, I agreed and was thinking this would be a really thorough cleaning. He went out to his truck and came back in with a bottle of something and some rags. Twenty minutes later, he was done and I was out $403... Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the service. I mean, $400 for 20 minutes of cleaning? Come on, does that seem fair? I think I will be looking elsewhere for service next time.
