Excellent business, I would give them 6 stars if I could. I first had American Air out last fall to look at my heat pump due to it tripping the breaker. The technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't try to upsell me on a new unit or extensive repair. After checking line pressures, he explained that the system, while nearing the end of its life, was okay for the time being. Service charge was minimal. Because of the good experience, I kept them in mind for when I wanted to upgrade. Then this week I hired American Air to upgrade the 20 year old heat pump with a new, more efficient Gree unit. They were timely and friendly in all our communication leading up to the install, including coming out to give the quote. On the day of install, the technicians arrived on time and reviewed the indoor unit location, eventually proposing a better install configuration (hung from the ceiling) at no extra cost beyond the initial quote despite increased effort. They went over each step of the install with me, including where I wanted the cold air return vent moved to. Techs worked efficiently and were happy with me checking in on progress from time to time. Going over the finished install, I was impressed with the level of quality and attention to detail. When moving the cold air vent, they were careful not to damage the floor or joists in the process. They patched any holes in the exterior wall from previous line runs, correctly fixed new wire runs, and strapped and repaired my existing ducting (without being asked or necessarily expected). All trash, debris, etc... was cleaned up and the basement/crawlspace was tidy when checked on. The new unit they installed is great, extremely quiet and efficient. The install cost was agreeable and affordable for the services rendered. Overall I had a great experience with American Air and would highly recommend them. Great service and great technicians. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend to anyone. We are a little ways out of there range but they were excellent working us into their schedule and helping us get our AC back. Super tickled with everything they have done and highly recommend them to anyone!
I work in the property management industry so I deal with a lot of HVAC repairs and replacements. American Air is always reliable, knowledgeable, and competitively priced. I use them at my personal properties in addition to properties I manage.
Installed in 2020. Difficult, rude receptionist. Other than that, the guys that come out to the house are great. Great job and very easy to work with. They did a complete AC and Heat pump install. We had some different issues pop up after install that they came back and worked on without issue. Took away a star for how difficult the receptionist was, but definitely think their workers and work quality were good.

Family owned business. Honest folk who stand by their work. I always call them for my heating and cooling needs. The negative reviews sound odd considering my experience with them. Perhaps some misunderstandings?
Jason came to see my project on September 22, 2020. He said he will work up the numbers and give me a quote. I heard nothing back from him. On January 22, 2021 when I was actually ready to move forward with the HVAC installation, I called to find out what happened to his quotation. Instead of giving me an explanation, he hung up on me and then wouldn’t answer my call. I cannot believe the lack of professionality and plain rudeness.

They installed a mini-split system for me in April, replacing an old gas floor heater. They glopped some putty of some sort into the 1 ft x 1 ft hole in the brick outside the house to "seal" the hole where the exhaust pipe had been. Looked horrible, and 6 months later it not only looks horrible, but has shrunken terribly, leaving gaps all the way around that mess, on the outside of my house! Any mice or other varmints can get in, and this company is arguing with me about repairing this properly. Will post pics.

We have used this family-owned business for 14 years. They come twice a year to service our heating/cooling systems and keep us in great shape. Such honest, knowledgeable, dependable and great people to work with!
American Air is a rare find in the skilled trades in Asheville. Good people, good work for a fair price! I have found them honest which is number one in my book... previously fixing an old AC unit for a nominal price without trying to replace. Today, they finished a large replacement job. They brought in extra technicians to complete it in one day, staying until 8PM on a Friday night, because an ill family member was returning from the hospital. The brothers are a pleasure to do business with...good people, good work at a fair price!
We've used these guys a couple of times for AC problems, and they are great! Very happy with the service. Would definitely recommend.
We called this company when out air quit working. They came out and added 7lbs of freon into our air conditioner and some kind of leak patch. They told us we needed a new system without trying to fix our current one. Told us it wasnt worth fixing. We had another company come out and in less than 15 minutes they saw a visible leak on our outdoor system, where the freon leaked right out. And the detector even went off. Very easy find to fix, had they actually tried to find one. Our second opinion cost less than American Air and the other company fixed it in less time. We are currently in collections over this. Oh, and when you call them, dont expect to talk to anyone that knows anything about hvac...or anyone that is friendly on the phone. Read and believe the negative reviews

I had the best customer service with Barbara who answered my phone call with a friendly and caring attitude. She was able to understand my urgency and needs and quickly put me in contact with Joey. Joey was the only gentleman out of the multiple companies I called to find the warranty information for the part I needed replaced and retrieved the fan motor the very same day. He was quick to come out and make the repair. He was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and answered all my questions and concerns. I am so impressed with this company that I am switching from my previous AC maintenance company to this one. I would (and will) highly recommend American Air Heating and Cooling to everyone I know as this is a trustworthy, professional, affordable, and reliable company that I look forward to using for any other AC/Furnace needs. Was referred to American Air by my neighbor who had a great experience with them last year. And I am so grateful!! My furnace died this morning (on the coldest day of the winter so far!) and they were at my house less than 2 hours after I called. Jeremy was very thorough in looking at the furnace and in explaining the problem and options and costs/benefits. After deciding to replace the furnace, Jason was able to arrange to do the job tonight(!) so that my little girl and I wouldn’t go thru the cold night tonight without heat. I had 2 other companies come look at our furnace last month when another issue arose, but American Air provided far superior responsiveness, price, and service. I can’t thank them enough as I sit here in my warm house with my daughter tucked in her warm bed. I wish I could repay their kindness and honesty with more than just a good review. Thank you guys so much!!!
