TLDR; it costs $176 for them to come just look at your unit and lie to you about you need. If you do want to know more, click here and read. We called them when our AC was not working well in the dead of summer in FL. They sent someone out quickly, which was great. However, within 10 minutes it was determined we would need a $4k fix and it was suggested we should just replace the unit altogether for a total of $11k. We knew we wouldn’t be able to afford either of these options, and with no credit available to us, we were panicking. We have three kids and couldn’t live without AC. So, we went to our neighborhood FB group and asked for advice. While the cost to replace the whole unit was determined to be fair, MANY AC professionals reached out saying it it sounded like we were being taken advantage of. One professional offered to help us troubleshoot over the phone and fix it ourselves for free, which ultimately saved the day. In 5 minutes we had unclogged the drain line and we’ve had AC ever since then. All it took was some white vinegar from Walmart for a couple dollars. We then had someone else come and confirm that there was no issue with the unit and it had just been a clogged drain line. He even showed us how great it all looked and what to look for if it does start needing work. Without telling him what had been told to us by Air Shield, he confirmed that none of the issues she gave to us were true. We were charged $176 for the person from Air Shield to look at the unit and lie to us. After calling tons more AC people after she left, I found the highest fee to have someone come out to be $90, with an average of $70. I cannot recommend them for these reasons. Save your money and find someone more honest.
The reviews are not accurate. They charge you a bunch of unnecessary fee. $367 just to unclog my AC drain line. Something my husband could’ve done had I wait for him. I’ll never use them again.
Mike went way above and beyond, nice, profesional, knowledgeable and very thorough. Highly recommend Air Shield. If more companies had workers as skilled and friendly as Mike the world would be a better place.
This lady in “customer service” literally call my phone to curse me out and hang up on me because I didn’t want there “maintenance service” or lack there of anymore
They gave a fair price f an emergency pertaining to the AC. They gave a window of 2 hrs: 6-8 PM. I called at 5 PM. It was 85°. All of a sudden it was working. I called back & they were very gracious despite the cancelation & said to keep their number if the AC stop working again....
Air Shield came out within 40 mins of call and serviced the unit until it was operating correctly over a period of 3 hours of eliminating parts and ended up being a shorted wire and fee was shocking low for the time they invested. Immediately signed up for their maintenance plan and I am one very happy customer with their professionalism and honesty.
I would highly recommend Air Shield for anyone needing their services. This company is honest , fair and I trust them implicitly. A special "thank you" to Carrie, our technician, who always takes the time to explain the problem and quickly resolves it. Their customer service goes above and beyond the norm!
My ac wasn't working so when I called they trouble shoot with me over the phone . And fixed my problem for free. Most people would have drove out and charged me a service call. And for that I'm going to sign up for there yearly service plan. It's 125.00 a year and we'll worth it.
Air Shield, from the Owner, Amanda, the shop keeper, and the installers were all fantastic, kind and courteous!!! I have never seen an A/C installed as superbly and efficiently in the manner they did it in. They were professional, courteous, personable, safety conscience.(Covid) Totally knowledgeable and competent in their work. There work comes with a one year guarantee, and the A/C and Air Handler they sell comes with a 10-year warranty. I highly recommend this company to you. Five stars all way! SIncerely, Dave Ungar
My A/C went out at 8:30pm and the house temp was climbing quick. I called 5 or 6 other companies but the soonest those companies could come out was in 2 days, that wasn't going to cut it! Then I called Air Shield. Amanda was kind and had a tech on my way in under 2 hours. Technicians Mike and Carrie were professional and very knowledgeable about what was going on. They had us up and running shortly after they arrived. Overall we are extremely satisfied with how Air Shield handled our situation. They definitely earned their 5 star rating!
I recently purchased a home in Ruskin. Like always one of my AC's stopped working on one of the hottest days in FL. So I googled nearest AC repair near me. After reading all the reviews, I decided to call Air Shield. I am so Happy and Blessed I did. Not only did they get a technician to my house within the hour. Carrie was knowledgeable, funny, and very patient. Being a new homeowner, I had a lot of questions, lol. She took the time and answered each question and explained to me the importance of regular maintenance. Also she went far and beyond figured out the problem (coils dirty) and only charge me for diagnostic. I am now a customer for life. I'm also signing up for yearly maintenance. Oh yeah, by the way, my AC is working again and blowing out cold Air. Please support family owned businesses. I recommend Air Shield Heating & Cooling to everyone. Thank you Carrie. You Rock!
This review is long overdue. I cannot say enough about this company. My air went out over Memorial Day weekend and Carrie and Mike went so far and above any service provider that I have ever hired. They stayed the entire day and even drove over 40 minutes to another place trying to find a fan to fix my ac unit. They said they were not going to leave until I had my ac fixed. I tried to tip them and they said no, they were just so happy that I had my ac that that was what they considered their tip. The most honest, friendly and professional company of ANY type that I have ever had the pleasure of hiring. Their price was more than fair. I would recommend them to anyone and if you are reading this, you need not look any further for a company for your cooling needs. I have had very bad luck in Hillsborough County with service providers, what a blessing to have found this company. I will ALWAYS hire them for anything that I need in the future, included a whole new until.
Our AC seized so without having a go to AC company, I went on YELP and GOOGLE to do some research on what companies were good and not so good. I do not rely on reviews solely. We picked 3 and Air Shield was one of them that had great reviews. They were the 2nd company to give us an estimate and my husband spoke to the owner and he was impressed. Then our girl Carrie came out and he was sold! We didn’t need another estimate so I canceled the 3rd estimate~you know in your gut when it’s right, we were not disappointed, in fact we were pleasantly delighted at the professionalism and care the installers Joel and Hugo and Mike were. They were on time, clean and completed the job quicker and more professional in every way then expected! We have had to change many (tmtc) AC units in our homes after being home owners since 1987 and this company surpassed our expectations. Carrie is beyond knowledgeable about AC’s and how they function. She explained everything from the ground up literally. We felt for the first time, we are not dropping our car off at a mechanic or dealership for service (sorry if I hurt anyone’s feelings). We felt like we knew what size unit the home needed and why for the first time! I cannot say enough about this company!!! We also always praise where we deem necessary!

I had Air Shield install a new system to replace my old failing one. Nick was quick to come out and gave great advice. He was patient while answering all of my questions. He helped me pick the best system for my needs and budget. The installation went flawlessly and the new system has been running great. This is definitely a top notch operation! I highly recommend them.

Nick is the owner of this business and this guy is amazing!!! Young, charismatic, knowledgeable, family oriented with amazing values!!! He was very patient with us, did a thorough inspection of our home and offered every option that best met our needs. He was very competitive with pricing and once we decided to do close the deal with him, he had one of his techs come see the house make sure they would have everything they needed before installation day!. Again, Guy (techs name) was very pleasant, knowledgeable, respectful and did the job in a day! Cleaned everything, took all the trash and old unit with them! It was an amazing job!!! I already recommended him to another person, and I am def. Looking forward using AIR SHIELD for our AC maintenance and/or new units! Thank You guys!!!
We switched A/C service providers because Air Shield is a great, honest company in case of emergency and regular maintenance.
