Last weekend our AC system stopped cooling. It was a holiday weekend and very difficult to get a service tech to house. Saturday evening was a nightmare, because the temperature inside was at 90 degrees and could not tolerant it anymore. So, we did another internet search and found A.C. Mechanical Works Inc. Charles the owner was able respond that night and did arrive around 9:00 pm. He determined that the Freon was low and quote a price to do the work. After about an hour, 5lbs of Freon, and almost $600.00 paid, the AC started to cool again. About 30 minutes after Charles departure, it appeared the temperature stopped dropping and by 4:00am the house was hot again. At 8:00am on Sunday morning, we contacted Del-Air and scheduled a tech for Monday and left two messages for Charles. He finally responded later that afternoon with, I need to get apart on Monday and can repair it then. We were confused because the invoice did not mention anything about a part needing to be ordered. So, we did not respond and waited for Del-Air to do a diagnostic. After Del-Air completed the testing on the system, it was determined there was a major leak and the coils needed to be replaced. The Del-Air Tech also mentioned that any certificated tech would have tested the system for leaks if the Freon was that low. The invoice we paid did not mention anything about testing or leaks. It’s clear to us that A.C. Mechanical Works took advantage of the holiday weekend and new homeowners. We will not recommend this business to anyone.
