I took the recommendation of another resident of my building and got Kalvis Mechanical to hook up both the Trane Water Source Heat Pump units in my apartment with Nest thermostats. They did an excellent job for a very reasonable price.

Andrei is super knowledgeable and patient. During our first meeting, he set expectations about how it would work with Honeywell versus Nest and what the advantages and disadvantages of each are. Being an engineer myself, I appreciated having the low level details explained to me. I decided to go with the Nest, primarily because of the seamless Google Home integration.

Andrei and Anna were extremely transparent and flexible throughout the rest of the process. On the actual day of the installation, there were some challenges with the way one of the units had been wired (a peculiarity relating to how Trane and Nest differ in their reversing valve logic) but Andrei was remarkably perseverant and finally figured it out. It took over 5 hours for both units as against the originally expected 2, but this was his first time setting up Nest in my building. I'm sure, now that he's figured it out, that it will be much easier if anyone else with a similar setup chooses to install Nest going forward.

How do one learn who is professional in the field and who is not so? Well it most likely be by comparing all unprofessionals you went thought until you randomly find a "gemstone" , like it was in my case. I have had numerous maintenance and cleaning performed and my dream (took 9 years) was to install programmable thermostat for rather old HVAC AC unit. Eventually I found some but the quote was so high it could compete will all Downtown Skyscrapers. I almost gave up. 21 century dilema: Tesla is sending shuttles to the moon yet we have no one to work on this planet.. I mean work, not taking your hard earning money and leave you to deal with same problem in a few months later.
Kalvis Mecancal made my Dream come true ,along with offering very reasonable price. Now I have very neat, 3 individually programmable thermostats for each room. All wires are hidden. No drilling mess. It will alert me when its due for filter change and time for maintenance. I was even offered to add another feature that shows outdoors temperature: no more sticking my head out the window or look at pedestrians trying to figure out weather by their clothes. lol! No more leaking water that damaged my wood floor drop by drop, no more suffering from uncontrollable AC unit with useless relay as a control and switch on/off buttons: room either gets too hot or if unit turned off- gets too cold . Additionally, more problems were found and fixed and I mean problems that I was adamant were addressed during my previous complains.

Kalvis mechanics are not only knowledgeable, but also reliable and friendly. Running a restaurant in NYC is not an easy feat, and when a fridge stops cooling or temps inside of the restaurant become uncomfortable, that often means I'm counting my losses. Kalvis guys came to my rescue several times over the past year, and taught me that scheduled maintenance saves me unexpected headaches and expenses. Fixing my commercial fridge and ensuring that HVAC system was running smoothly year round is something that they do superbly! Thank you for being consistently great and taking pride in your work.

If I could rate it 10 stars, I would gladly do so! Quality, responsiveness, value and punctuality are simply at its top. All work was done in a matter of couple of days. Our HVAC wasn’t working, half of the house didn’t get heat. Problem was diagnosed and fixed. I haven’t seen more qualified honest people than Andrei and his crew. We highly recommend them for any HVAC work you need to do.
