Run away. This business cost us an additional 3 weeks time and extra rental costs, while waiting to close on a house. Communication goes a long way. Repeated unanswered, non-responsive calls from our realtor fell on deft ears and therefore, left us wondering if Gene was planning to show up for a repair. Very unprofessional. Poor business practices, especially more costly if a house deal is on the table.

I’m new to Santa Fe and was recommended by a friend to call Gene at National Plumbing when my heater had problems. The guys who came to fix it were super knowledgeable and on time and addressed all my issues. I would highly recommend them based on the quality of their work.

I'm confused, National was out a few months ago. They disconnected and diagnosed a fireplace issue. Apparently only half the parts came in, National put off the repair "for a few days" an then radio silence for more than two months. No response to any calls.

They just sent kids out who were not versed in what to do to repair our heat pumps. Something that should of been a one day job, turned into two days without finishing the job. When you try to contact them their mail box was full so you couldn’t contact them. When someone did finally contact us it was a 12 year old girl with all that you would expect from a child. I have been in construction for years before I retired and was impressed that they are still in business. In my experience this is a company that is in the process of going out of business. Stay clear for your own good you were warned!

He is a mastermind at solving difficult mechanical problems and is very knowledgable and meticulous in the scope of installing and fixing all types of heating and cooling systems. Service call to repair a thermocouple on gas fireplace. Tech not responsive to issue, claimed it was wind. Not repaired. Owner Gene Romero responded to questions with aggression. Cannot recommend.

Gene was used by the buyer of our house for a home inspection estimate. He reported that our sewer line had not been replaced (and was cast iron) and that there was also root intrusion. Given that we recently had had the sewer line replaced, this was a surprise. We asked the plumbing company who had replaced our sewer line to come out to our house – they performed a scope and explained that they used a trenchless replacement process, which perhaps Gene was not aware of. The inspection revealed no root intrusion in the sewer pipe. Then to make absolutely sure, the plumber dug up the sewer line exposing the old pipe material that was busted outside of the new HPDE piping that they had inserted. It would certainly appear that Gene was not familiar with this new trenchless technology; our experience with his estimate for our buyer was disappointing.

Initial home inspection was fine. However, my hot water heater started leaking last night and unable to get a response from Gene Romero then or this morning. Called another plumber who was immediate in his response.
