The Avery Heating & Cooling team will always have our business. They took care of our heating system during the cold days in January. They are very honest and professional. If you need honest/reasonable price service give Chet and Gina a call.
AC was out and I was sweating up a storm. I had checked first with Angie's list and HomeAdvisors. I got outrageous quotes. I had one service come out and the tech said I needed to spend $10,000 with him to replace both my AC and the entire furnace, but couldn't do it right away. I called Avery and they sent a tech right out. He diagnosed the problem and explained it completely so I understood what he could do for me. I OK'd the repair and he finished within an hour for well under anyone with HomeAdvisors wanted. I was nice and cool in no time and didn't pay what the others wanted. I'll never even think about using any other service.
I had Avery heating and cooling out to replace my entire HVAC system. Wow was I impressed. Work was fast. They cleaned up and left my property cleaner then before. Very responsive to my questions. I couldnt recommend them more.
My AC quit the day before yesterday. I texted Avery that night. They called me first thing yesterday AM. By 1:30 PM they had completely replaced my old unit!! Avery's taken care of my old HVAC system for over 10 years, enabling me to finally save up for a brand new unit! Chet Avery is reasonable, courteous, and a true blessing to the Independence and KC Metro areas.
I got 3 bids. Avery had the best price. Im glad I went with them. The employee that came to my house was very knowledgable and professional. I will be telling anyone who needs any heating or cool to call Avery. Thanks so much for your help.
Chet is honest and dependable. He did a great job fixing my AC! And he saved me $500 from a previous quote I had received. I will definitely use Avery again.
Great to work with. Used Chet twice now and both times he got me back up and running quickly. One was a heater on a 15 ton unit that had stumped 2 other companies. He found the problem and fixed right away. Strongly Recommend!!
Just purchased my home and when I went to move in the AC wouldn’t work properly. Avery’s got me fixed up in a timely manor, communicated very well with me & were reasonably priced! Thank you so much.
I work at Big O, in Lenexa Kansas. We had a new thermostat installed by a security company and it never had a signal to call for heat after the install. The owner came out and figured out what we needed, AFTER a very well known HVAC company came out and said we needed $8,000 worth of work done. These guys are ALL amazing. They fixed our issue and got heat back up front for our customers. VERY trustworthy and respectful. I'm glad I got to speak with the owner for over an hour, and learned some valuable things from him. Not many HVAC guys are out there like this company. I would recommend them to anyone, thank you again Avery Heating and Cooling!
It is unfortunate that I have to make this review but I thought my month-long experience with Avery Heating and Cooling would be beneficial to those considering a HVAC company in the Kansas City area.
This summer, my wife and me decided to have a new HVAC system installed in our house. We had several bids done and decided to go with Avery Heating and Cooling. The price was comparable but we really liked Chet. He was very down to earth and not out to up-sell me on a fancier system for my small, older house.
The installers were on time and polite. They tore out the old system and had the new system installed the same day. This particular day was hot so the house heated up quite a bit during install. By the end of the day the house was about 86 degrees. The installers left for the day and were going to come back the next day to redo some of the ducting. The A/C was running but not cooling the house down quickly. It took about 14 hours for the house to cool down to 72 degrees. This didn't seem correct so they installed a different valve the next day. It didn't help.
Chet decided to put in a nicer expansion valve on the system. The installers came back out and put on the new expansion valve. However they did a very bad job at installing it. They kinked the copper line running from the valve to the outdoor unit so bad it rendered the valve almost useless. The house was still not cooling well. We were still getting between 9-12 degree delta-T. The industry standard is between 18-21.
Chet then recommended replacing the outdoor condenser unit. He decided to come out and do the install of the new equipment himself. He was kind and walked me through the process. After he left, the house was still not cooling well. On a fairly normal summer day, with highs below 90 degrees, the unit was running about 14 hours a day to keep the house at 73 degrees.
After putting up blackout curtains on all the windows we came home from work and the house was at 76 degrees and 75% humidity. We had kept the A/C at 73 degrees all day but it couldn’t keep up with the heat or humidity.
This was the last straw for us. We called Chet back and asked him to fix the system. His recommendation was to up-size the system. He would charge us the difference between the systems. To me, this didn’t sound right. A 2.5 ton unit should be able to cool our small house very well. So I decided to call another HVAC company out to look at the system and get a second opinion. They arrived and within about 20 minutes they spotted the issue. There was a small valve that should have been removed during install to allow the expansion valve to work. He said this should have been blatantly obvious because when he went to install a new expansion valve he couldn’t get it to screw in due to the small valve still being in place. He was so confused about how they got the old expansion valve installed and thought they should have at least thought that maybe there was an issue during install. After removing that small valve and installing another expansion valve the house immediately started to cool and pull out humidity. Within 2-3 hours the house was cool and all of the humidity gone.
It is very unfortunate that this process took over a month to get figured out. My A/C ran between 12-14 hours each day for a month when it now only runs between 6-9 hours. These issues should have never happened. In total I believe Avery Heating and Cooling was at my house about 7 times including install. Chet and his company have been extremely nice. He worked with me on the issues and I believe went beyond his duties for several of the issues. However, he still couldn’t install a functioning HVAC system in my house. This is what I paid him to do. It has now been almost 1.5 months since installation and I still do not have warranty information.
This ordeal has cost me a lot. A lot of stress, time and money. In the end, the company could not do what they were paid to do. Because of that, I cannot recommend Avery Heating and Cooling to others, for HVAC needs.
