These guys installed a gas steam heating boiler in December 2022. They matched the price and system of another company who had a 2 week wait list. Handy was able to install next day, so I went with them instead. It has been a nightmare since.
The install included the destruction of mortar around the chimney where they installed a new stack/vent from the new boiler. This was not repaired. Each visit left a massive mess and water all in the boiler room. Furthermore, the workers bumped the other boiler’s damper that resulted in it turning off, requiring a service tech from a different company to repair at $130. The pipes around the new boiler leaked and required multiple follow up visits to repair. At the last repair visit, the spill switch was disconnected by them requiring another visit. All the piping was not replaced, it was spliced with older pipes and you guys charged me a service fee of $150 for this repair which was not paid.
Let’s fast forward to after a completed install and multiple visits, I was notified by my tenants that their unit was not heating. I reviewed the boiler. It had a low water light illuminated indicating that was likely the problem. However, this unit has an auto water feeder that should not allow this problem to arise. I contacted my regular HVAC company for a service call fee of $130. They reviewed and inspected the unit. Found that the auto water feeder was not connected to the unit. Also found that the original, outdated gas feed line was still in place and was never replaced as mandated by the city/state of Providence, RI when new units are installed. Even more troubling was the firomatic was removed and replaced with an exposed 120V electrical that was grounded to an exposed metal box. This was live and is a major safety issue.
I also wanted to point out that the quote honored from another company for this install is a lesser efficiency model (82% instead of 84%).
Communication has been lacking on the owner’s side. The only repair corrected as of today was the electrical issue. Due to the amount of positive reviews from others, I hope my install was a fluke. I just want others to be aware.
I did not realize that I was responsible for the mini split units once they were installed. I was trying to get energy star rating, I was told that it was my responsibility. This has been going on from October 30, 2022. I have sent e-mail and text. The yellow sticker on the unit says "This system efficiency rating depend on the coil your contractor installs with the unit. Ask you contractor for details". I hired them because I did not know anything about these units. I am not happy with this company.

Expecting to be told 2 months out for them to come, Lance, answered my call instantly and came in no time. Lance was so professional, friendly and very helpful. I am so grateful we found him. Prices are good and the work he does is fantastic. We highly recommend him.
My furnace chipped out 5:30 in the morning, with no response from my landlord I wasn't sure who to call. Lance picked up and although he didn't specialize in gas he walked me through trying to reset my furnace, check my electrical box and make sure I didn't flip any switches by accident. Although we couldn't resolve the issue he gave me a referral to someone who could and followed up to ensure all went well. You were awesome, stay stellar!!
Called Lance at 4am on Sunday morning with no heat and 20 degrees outside. Lance retuned my call by 7:30am, was at my house by 8:45am and had my boiler fixed and heat on before 10am. Very professional and fair price. Will be calling Lance at Handy Oil for any future oil heating related questions/concerns. Thanks again Lance!
My oil burner stopped working on a Saturday morning, I called the business shortly after. Lance called me back very quickly, and was at my house soon. He got my heat up and running before I needed to put on a sweatshirt, and was extremely professional the entire time. I can’t recommend him enough. Thanks again Lance!

Arrived on time and called to say he was here. Very kind gentleman. Felt safe to have in my home, respecting COVID-19 protocol for mask wearing. Did work in timely manner and very reasonable with pricing. Would recommend and look forward to having him come annually.
Did a great job servicing furnace, very clean. Love that they rebooked for a year later so I will not forget. Need new oil tank gave a great quote for new tank. Highly recommend.
Lance is the best!! We had a water pipe burst over our new oil burner, Lance came right out was very honest didn't charge us for parts we didn't need rather gave us what we needed to get back on track! I would call again and highly suggest service.
