A good friend of mine used them and had to reach out months after putting down a deposit. This was also a middle of the summer job for a HVAC replacement, and the company chose to work 3 hours per day installing a furnace before installing the AC unit. Poor communication, poor service, and not someone I would choose to call.
We had these guys come out to inspect and clean our furnace when we bought our house 3 years ago. They left quite an impression on me. They are some of the most incompetent "professionals" I've ever met. They told us our furnace checked out and was good to go (charging us around $130 if I remember correctly). When the gas company came, they would not turn on our gas because there was a leak in the line. So I called Edwards again and they came back out, told us once again there was no leak. The gas company came back and said there was a big leak - it's not their job to find leaks but they did us a favor and went under the house and found it, said it was huge and obvious, and tied a red rag around it so the Edwards guys could finally find it. For those of you who don't know, a gas leak under your house is a very bad thing, and could end in death or grave injury. That's why you hire a professional to come check your gas line. I would definitely NOT recommend these guys!!! Besides doing a bad job and wasting my time, one of the guys broke the stairs on our deck and instead of apologizing, only cursed and complained about the shoddy deck construction.
They came out 2 wks ago to look at our heat pump when it stopped working. Ultimately charged us $200 for replacing a part that I don't think even needed replaced. They said they had to find another part and they would call us. The unit still isn't working right and we haven't heard from them. They disconnected wiring and left it that way, making it harder to fix. I would give zero stars if I could. Not recommended.
They put in a thermocouple and charged me $225, two weeks later the water heater still was not working. They told me I needed a new water heater so they replaced the old one with a new one and took the thermocouple with them and still charged the installation fee. I talked with them and they did discount the cost of the installation fee but I still paid for a new thermocouple that they took back. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
In short, terrible communication, poor professionalism, poor explanation of the problem, poor follow-through, difficult to get ahold of, and overall a very poor experience.
Details; will try to summarize due to Google's character limit: We were assigned this company for a home warranty claim for our LP furnace. We have a hybrid heating system (heat pump primary, LP furnace secondary). We noticed issues with the furnace around Thanksgiving (11/22). We called the home warranty company the next morning, and they assigned us Edwards Heating and Cooling as the contractor. We were expecting a call from Edwards within a few hours. I called Edwards that afternoon and was told that the next availability was the following week. Not wanting to wait almost a week due to having a pregnant wife and 2 year old daughter to keep warm, I called other HVAC pros in my area to see if they could squeeze me in earlier.
I was able to get another HVAC pro out to look at the furnace the following day. Their diagnosis was a crack in the heat exchanger. The home warranty company requested that Edwards provide a second opinion to avoid replacing the unit. After calling Edwards' office a few times, they came out a day or two later, and their diagnosis was a new control board and gas valve. They didn't provide the diagnosis to the home warranty company for almost 3 days, per the home warranty company, further delaying the issue .
Edwards ordered replacement parts in December. Eric, the manager, called and said he would stop by on Friday 12/10. I took off work to be home a little early for him to not show up. We rescheduled, and I made plans to stay home on Saturday 12/11 only for him to keep delaying his arrival time and then eventually not showing up due to storms and power outages. I get that stuff happens, but why not send a quick message stating that you can't make it and reschedule for another day?
We then made plans for his team to come out and replace the parts on Monday 12/13. The guys showed up that afternoon, installed the control board, and realized that they had either ordered or had been sent the wrong gas valve.
A new gas valve was ordered and finally arrived on Thursday 12/30. The guys came to install the new valve on Monday 1/3. The furnace worked, but still showed an abnormal flame pattern. On Thursday 1/6, temps dropped below 10 degrees F. Our heating system (heat pump or furnace) would not heat the house to above 63 degrees F. I requested that Edwards come out and fix the issue and was basically told by Edwards to fly a kite and seek help elsewhere. We got help elsewhere to limp us along.
I warned a Facebook friend about Edwards on Friday 1/7. Eric called me and aggressively demanded I take down the post. We talked for a while, and he assured me that the furnace was fine and he would perform CO testing the following week. He never showed up on Tuesday 1/11 due to needing to get his CO meter a new crystal and recalibrated. He stated he would stop by on Wednesday 1/12, but never showed up nor told me he had to cancel. We then made plans for him to come by on Monday 1/17, but he never showed up, never returned messages, and never answered phone calls or voicemails. He is yet to respond as of Tuesday 2/8.
We have had 2 additional unrelated HVAC pros diagnose our furnace as having a cracked heat exchanger. They have provided inspection camera results and combustion testing results. Edwards is sticking with their original diagnosis, and the home warranty company will not listen to our 3 outside diagnoses.
I hate to leave negative reviews about small businesses. However, I feel it is important to share my experience with this company. The home warranty company can't be blamed for everything. Your experience may be different than mine. I sincerely hope it is.
The first attached photo is the abnormal flame pattern. Edwards is saying that this is normal. 3 separate HVAC pros are stating that this is not safe and is indicative of a breached heat exchanger. The other photos are another HVAC pro's inspection camera results.
All of the above , they did very good work on our electric and plumbing they helped us get in our house, they were right on the money with their estimates, Michael was great, will use them if needed in the future
