This company sold me a Trane AC system which broke about a month ago. They charged me $125 for a 20-minute visit and I am not sure what they did.because It broke again this last Monday. They told me it was under warranty and I had to wait a week for a new part. When the technician came today to install the new part, he said I owed $325 for "labor" which was a 10-minute fan installation! They never ever mentioned that there would be a charge. Literally, 10 minutes to install a part under warranty! Totally unethical!

We bought a new Trane system from this company in 2012, to replace our aging Trane system. After the new system was installed, it did not pass Miami-Dade inspection, without correcting some errors that should be well-known to a licensed and trained air conditioning company. After the system was completed and up-and-running, it shut down in about 3 days. After several repeats of this, they brought in a Trane engineer who found there was a static pressure problem. It turned out I was sold (and they installed) a 5-ton system, but the house ducting was for a 2 1/2-ton system and could not handle the airflow. I should have walked away then. I told the JJAC owner that he either needed to make it work properly or remove it. He suggested that I pay for the materials and he would do the labor to correct the ducting. I agreed. While replacing the plenum, he realized the larger round duct would not fit through the truss and asked to cut away some of the structural members of the truss! I told him to reshape the round duct to fit through the triangular area of the truss. He told me that it would not work with a reduced diameter. I told him that it did not matter if the duct was round, square, rectangular (most ducting is square or rectangular), or triangular, as it had to do with the area, not shape. He did not seem to understand the basics of physics. This would be taught in air conditioning school. He replaced the plenum and the system worked fine for five years. I had them come every year to check the units condition and refrigerant. On the fifth year visit, the technician suggested I install a newer thermostat and UV light. I bought the items and the technician installed them. After that, the system never worked correctly! They could not figure out what was wrong, so I had them remove the new thermostat and re-install the old one. The technician fried the old thermostat and put a new one like it in (warranty). The system still did not work reliably. It turned out that the refrigerant was low! I paid for a shut-down and leak check to isolate the problem and they found the air handler coils were leaking (warranty). While replacing the coils the technician burned the plastic air handler cabinet and didn't say anything about it. After I saw the damage, I called and complained. They replaced it with a new one and told me they were no longer serving this area (meaning me). What a bunch of incompetent people! His 'trusted' technician was the worst! In the end, it forced me to find another company and I am truly relieved to finally have a technician and owner who knows what they are doing! I should have fired JJAC in the beginning! I hope he has learned how to take care of technical issues and maybe become a good company. Until then, good luck to any one who chooses this company! -- I AM EDITING DUE TO THE RESPONSE OF JJAC -- As I have stated, I purchased a 5-ton system (that's what I wanted) to replace my existing system (it may have been a 3.5-ton, but it was not a 5-ton) for greater cooling capacity. JJAC gladly sold me the 5-ton system and did NOT advise of any flow restriction until AFTER the installation. As a matter-of-fact, the only issue he mentioned was the copper tubing diameter, but he found the dual-stage system could work fine with my existing copper, so that became a non-issue. After installation, the unit did not work correctly and was shutting down (still is shutting down sometimes) about every day or two. He had to get a Trane engineer to come and evaluate the issue and was told by Trane that there was a static pressure issue, due to the wrong ducting/air cond system matchup. THAT is when he told me about the duct issue, NOT BEFORE THEN! He never came and did work that was unpaid, unless it was an issue they caused! When Miami-Dade Inspection and Permitting came to sign off the installation, it failed! He had to fix several issues that would be well-known to any licensed professional air conditioning company.

Recently we replaced our old whole house AC unit with a new unit. During Mike's review of our proposed installation, he suggested that we install a drip pan and two electronic sensors that depict water. This prevents a clogged overflow from putting water on the floor or down through your ceiling. (we already know what that costs). We followed Mike's advice. A month later the unit shut down and we could not figure out why. Well, the drain became clogged and we had about two inches of water in the catch pan. The electronic sensors picked up the clogged drain tube and water in the pan and shut down the unit before any water damage could be done. A few extra dollars saved us about 10 thousand dollars in damage to our ceiling, walls and floor. Since this was a permitted installation, we had to have it inspected. The inspector remarked about how well the unit was installed. Thanks to JJ A/C and his professional staff. This is our second installation by JJ/AC.
