I went through 2 other companies before calling air shield. The techs from those two other companies had no idea what they were doing. They could not find the issue with my central ac system. Until I called air shield, Anthony the technician diagnosed the issue with in minutes. He was very informative and showed me the issues. Anthony had my ac system back to cooling in no time. I also signed up for their maintenance program to keep my system running efficiently.Thank you Anthony and air shield!
I found attic insulation coming from a vent and called for a repair. I'm not sure if it could be repaired as nobody actually got in the attic and looked. However, the suggestion that I needed new duct work was spot on. After the work was finished the air quality and evenly spread cold air was a nice change. The master bedroom, where we blamed the TV for being hot, is the same temperature as the rest of the rooms even with TV on. So, why 4 stars? I had to clean up the insulation off table, couch, and floors that came through the vents during installation. There was also an item on the proposal for clean and sanitize the grills. I brought this up and one of the installers went to one of the returns and I assume cleaned it. Maybe it's my confusion on what a grill is. However, I know there are 2 returns. Anyway, I know they were hot and tired from starting first thing in the morning and actually finishing just after 5pm. It works great. I had to deduct something for doing the cleanup in the house.
She was great! We could hear our ac/heater blower motor “throbbing/droning” in our house. She said it sounded like the blower motor.. went outside and returned shortly to say the motor was ok. Our ductwork was filled with water. She told me what caused the problem, and gave me several options to address it. She clearly explained benefits and draw-backs to each. She didn’t talk down to me or, talk over my head. She is a professional HVAC technician that talks to you, not at you.
I had Air Shield come out to do a regular service maintenance since we were unsure if it had ever been serviced since as we just recently purchased our home. The initial diagnostic was that we needed our fan and coils cleaned, with a quote that already seemed too high, then after the technician checked the refrigerant, I was told our refrigerant was measuring at 115 degrees when it should be 135 degrees, mold and rust was dripping into our ducts, and I was breathing poisonous air and needed to replace the entire system asap. The quote I received for the replacement was twice as high as what my neighbors paid a month ago, so it just didn't seem right. I had another company come out and give me a second opinion and they showed me the refrigerant was measuring at 135 degrees, the fan just needed to be wiped down(which they did), and the coils were fine. As far as the system? Sure, it's older, but it still works and does not to be replaced.
I felt as though Air Shield saw myself as an easy target - a pregnant woman working from home alone while my husband was out serving our country - and tried to take advantage of the scenario.
Before you commit to using their services, get a second opinion.
Mike P. was so amazing to work with. We could genuinely tell he was just a good person, which put some of our worries at ease. Our AC went down after a storm, and we were miserably hot. He came out very quickly, found the problem, and addressed. The whole time he kept us informed with his progress and showed us routine maintenance areas we could improve upon for ultimate results. He sold us and had us getting a yearly contract quickly. Will only work with Mike P. from here on out!
Carrie was the consummate professional. Direct yet approachable, pleasant and informative regarding her opinion of our HVAC system. She should be the example her company uses when it comes to great customer service!
