I hate to have a bad experience with a local business, but at this point I’ve had three this year.

When I first moved here in January I called these guys out to my house because the furnace wasn’t working, when the tech arrived he told me that my furnace was broken and they could give a price to replace my whole furnace to the tune of several thousand dollars. Didn’t feel convinced so I called in another company, they spent about 15 minutes and had the pilot relit and gas turned back on to the unit. Nothing wrong with the existing system.

This week I called them back to do a simple Nest thermostat install, same tech shows up - spends 5 minutes looking at my furnace and Nest and then tells me my Nest is broken because the Rh wire is throwing power and offers to install one of their analog thermostats for me. I pass and tell him I’ll just go to Best Buy and get a new Nest if that’s the only problem. Spend $250 on a new thermostat, come back and put it in and it’s still saying low voltage. At this point I just google it and it says you need to put in the common wire. Literally plugged in the (already installed) common wire and it worked. Swapped back to the old “broken” unit and that one worked too. The tech had to plug in a single wire and just didn’t.

Not sure if this is their hustle, just trying to up sell to bigger bills, or if they regularly miss simple things like turning the gas on and lighting the pilot or plugging a wire in - but neither is a good look.

Called and asked them to not charge me for the service call as they clearly didn’t do anything and they said they hadn’t charged me yet and would make sure they didn’t. Woke up this morning and they charged me anyway.

Three strikes it is. I’d save yourself the trouble and expense and get your service from any other HVAC provider. Unless you just want to throw away working equipment and pay for new equipment and install fees, I’m sure they’re great at that.

I called this vendor because my mom's thermostat went blank. The tech came up (drove 3 blocks to her house from the vendor's location) and in 5 minutes or less, replaced the batteries in her thermostat. The charge was appx. $130. It seems to me excessive....and no 'break' or courtesy was offered given the meager effort required.
