I am grateful Larry at General Heating & Air was able to come out on a Saturday, the same day I called, to get my AC working again. He was professional and shared useful tips with me on extending the life of my HVAC system and lowering my power bill. Great service, fair pricing!

Do NOT use this company!!!!

We purchased our home at the end of June 2017. Our air units, which were newly installed by Larry (6 months prior to our purchase - manufacture date says January 2017), have never worked properly. Larry came out to our home in July 2017 and, after dewinterizing the units, they still didn't work properly. To clarify, the heat is fine, but the upstairs cooling unit struggled to keep up with rising summer temps.
Fast forward to May 2018: our upstairs unit leaked, caused water damage and headaches in draining the drip pan and fixing PVC pipes to allow for proper drainage. Larry came to our home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 to evaluate the drip pan's water level sensor and said the Thermal Expansion Valve needed to be replaced. He said parts and labor were both still under warranty, as we haven't owned our home for 1yr yet. He promised that the parts would be ordered and in his shop by Friday, May 4, and that he'd call me that same day to schedule the install for Monday, May 7, 2018. I never heard from Larry. Since that date, I have called no less than 50 times, left a minimum of 10 voicemails, 5 emails, and 4 text messages to no avail. Our realtor also tried to contact Larry, and even the manufacturer, with no luck.

Larry does all my HVAC work In the Birmingham/Hoover area, . He does not try to sell more than I need. His price is always fair and he does great work. He's very trustworthy and I've recommended many friends to use General Heating and Air.

Loved these guys. My parents AC went out Friday night and Saturday pm it was 90 plus in the house. We called them up and Larry was here fast. The capacitor had blown, as it's supposed too, because of a power surge. He cooled the unit off and switched to a new capacitor. He explained what had happened and told us how long it would take to be cool again. My parents were very happy. Thanks Larry!

This company sent a repairman out back in March and at the time our motor and compressor had gone out and they replaced them. On this past Saturday our unit stopped cooling the house properly and I sent in a request with my home warranty company to get it looked at again. They sent out a gentleman from a different company on Sunday to look at our unit for us and he found that this company had not properly welded the new compressor onto the unit which eventually busted and blew oi and freon out all over the inside of the unit. They would not allow the gentleman from the second repair company to fix it and reassigned iit back to this company. They were unable to make it out until today. Leaving us 2 additional days with no ac which we had to spend both nights in a hotel due to the house being between 80-87 the entire time. What makes it worse is my wife is currently 9 months pregnant and they made us wait 2 days to fix their mistake and were even an hour late getting here today. I had to work today so my wife was the one that was here when as it turned out the same technician from March came back to fix the mistake. This repair guy was very rude to my wife who happened to have her mother on the phone at the time and overheard the conversation and decided to come to our house to help and this guy was rude to my mother in law several times before she called him on it. After which I was able to get home myself and he was put back fixing the problem. When he got done he came to the door and tried to tell me that the problem was not his fault and that the manufacturers elbow joint can sometimes crack around six months later which I know to be wrong because previous repair guy from Sunday showed me that the crack was in the weld joint not the elbow. This repair guy even claimed he had not been rude to anyone today right before he left. I will never recommend this company to anyone and if my home warranty companytries to a sign this company to a repair problem at our house again I will demand they assign a different company.

Terrible! Does not ever answer the phone or respond to voicemails. “Fixed” a problem that they never actually fixed which has created an even bigger problem. Now we are in 90 degree weather with no air. 0/10, do not recommend.

Does not follow up on problem solving.
Does not return calls!
Would not recommend them to anyone!
Wish I would have seen these reviews.
Removed trim to get unit in attic and have not replaced.
Did not check drain in attic, leaked on ceiling.
These are items owner stated they would repair. It has been 5 months
and no repair.
AC unit on hot days will only get down to 76-78 degrees!
