Pro Tech Mechanical HVAC has a professionally built website that has allowed me to select specifically what I wanted for ventilation. At first I set-up a date for the installation, they came with a great attitude and work ethic. It was a awesome task and will hire again! I recommended everybody for this highly.

We had called HSA Home Warranty about an issue that we were having with our furnace. Pro Tech works with HSA in our area, so we had no choice but to use Pro Tech. The first service call I asked if they could replace the burners that had pin-hole leaks in them. The tech instead did a CO2 test and took pictures of the pin-hole leaks to submit them to the HSA insurance company in hopes of getting the furnace replaced. We had a 29 year old Tempstar, so it was going to need to be replaced sooner than later. The tech didn't fix anything, he simply wrote up all the issues and then left.

A few days later we get a phone call from HSA saying they approved the replacement of our furnace but they would only cover a small portion of the bill. Either way, it's money I didn't have to pay. An hour later i got a phone call from Pro Tech saying that a tech will be to our house to replace the furnace later in the week. This is where things started to go down hill. As the home owner, we felt as if we had no control over the situation. We had no idea what brand of furnace we were getting, we had no itemized list of charges, or options to upgrade from an 80/20 furnace to a more high efficiency furnace, simply Pro Tech saying the tech will be there later in the week to complete the work.

The tech's showed up, never introduced themselves, at the appointment time and got to work. It took them about four hours to complete the work, still without a word of the brand of furnace, if it puts out the same amount of BTU's as the current furnace and nothing on the quality of the brand. The tech said he was done and was ready to accept payment. We weren't expecting this. We thought we would get an itemized invoice of what we are paying for and we can submit a payment from our bank. We also found out at that time that they don't accept American Express credit cards, so we had to dig into our savings to pay the tech.

After paying the tech, he handed us a carbon copy of a work order that simply said "Install furnace" and a total charge. The tech left and that was that. Later that evening we found a pile of sheetmetal screws and a Phillips head screw bit in our carpet. My wife and i were both glad we found them before our one year old baby did.

The issue we are having with Pro Tech is that their communication is horrible. We were left with the feeling that we were scammed some how. We still don't know the quality of our furnace or if they replaced it exactly with the same BTU furnace we had in the house. The brand of furnace is Payne and we have never heard of that name. The new furnace is much louder than then our old furnace, so i don't know if it means the furnace is working harder then it is suppose to, or if it is just stronger than the old one. We still don't know the names of the techs that installed the furnace either.
