Cardinal Heating helped me fix a few different issues with my Viessmann boiler. Unlike Beacon Plumbing, their prices were up front and fair. Beacon attempted to charge me $4100 for a part Cardinal said costs $900. The boiler now works great. Thanks Cardinal Heating for being first great professionals, but also not being shady crooks.
We had had a lot of issues with our regular HVAC repair outlet, and this time when our heat pump failed, Cardinal Heating & Air was recommended to us by a friend. So, we called them, and they were here the next day. Having some technical background, I could immediately see the superior skill and professionalism of the technician. It turned out that we had a very unusual problem. The discharge temperature sensor was loose and had rubbed against the refrigerant tube over the years, eventually creating a hole and letting out all the refrigerant (Freon in our case). After realizing that all of the refrigerant was gone, the technician very quickly found the leak, and we had air conditioning the next day. Every subsequent call or email, whether it had to do with Carrier warranty on parts, with Cardinal's maintenance agreement or with other financial matters, was answered immediately in a very professional and transparent way. I highly recommend Cardinal Heating & Air in the Seattle area.
This company installed two Carrier air conditioners for me in 2016. One unit stopped functioning in 2017. Initially, they wanted to charge me for that repair, however it turned out that the new unit had been connected to my furnace incorrectly so after the technician called the office they didn't charge me. This year both units failed to function during the recent mini heat wave. A technician came out to do a diagnostic and the bill came out to around $500. For a diagnostic only, not a repair. I was told there had been a coolant leak in one of the lines (likely due to their faulty workmanship in 2016) and nearly all the coolant had leaked out. The other unit needed a new circuit board (after less than three years, for some reason). I told the technician to bill me, and the following day my husband called to complain. There were some vague promises made about making things right. Today two technicians came to fix both units. The bill was nearly $1800 and they demanded payment before they left. Today I also received an invoice for nearly the full amount of previous visit.
These units were installed and serviced only by Cardinal. The initial cost was over $18,000. No one but Cardinal has touched them since they were installed. They have been nothing but trouble. Today I was told that there was no warranty on the work they had just performed and that I would need to buy a service warranty, which must be paid for upfront. Needless to say I declined. Take my advice and do not let these people anywhere near your heating and cooling systems.
***Update: I spoke to James, the service manager, and he reduced the bill for the repairs and diagnostic to a reasonable amount. It appears there may have been a lack of communication between the office and the lead technician yesterday. I have amended the star rating to reflect this. James also forwarded me further details about the Carrier warranty, which makes me more confident that future problems will be addressed in satisfactory manner.
This is one of those situations where I feel obligated to give a 5 star review. Not because I feel pressured to do so, but the level of service I’ve received from these guys on several occasions has been second to none. It’s what I always want, but often times come short of receiving.
Allen, our Service Technician is prompt, customer service oriented, professional, thorough, transparent in his work and always leaves making sure that we understood what happened, why it happened and what the resolution will be. From what I’ve read in the other reviews left for Cardinal, it seems as though all their Technicians are just as qualified as Allen. That’s a testament to Cardinal and their entire staff and how valued their employees must feel. I feel great knowing that our furnace and heat pump will be serviced by this professional (in every sense of the word) organization for years to come.
I was astonished with the professionalism of the tech that I met. Todd was prompt, polite, and quick with the repair of our incredibly old and wonky furnace. He showed me how to install the air filters and gave advice about when to get a new system. He also very kindly endured the enthusiastic attention of my two year old as he was trying to work. I really can't say enough good things about him. In addition, the price was reasonable for the work and the part. We will definitely be sticking with Cardinal in the future. Thanks again!!
I needed to replace my hot water heater due to age and my A/C was not working correctly. They were able to quickly and professionally replace the tank as well as resolve the A/C issues in a minimal amount of time. Everything is working great and there were no issues with installation. The technician was friendly and knowledgeable.
I called them to ask if they can fix my furnace, they said they will come and check while I told them the exact problem that needs to be fixed. And for checking they will charge $295 per hour after that they will decide if they can fix it or not. Then I called Bob's Heating and they said they will charge $139 for service and whatever repairs will cost. I will never try Cardinal again. Got it fixed from Bob's at less than half of Cardinal's hourly charges. It took him about an hour to fix and then he waited 30 minutes to make sure it is not an issue again. Have warranty also if same problem happens again.
When we bought our house, it had a 40 year old furnace and a 15 year old water heater, so we figured we'd add in AC when we replaced things. I called several places for quotes. People came out to do estimates. Many I never heard from again. Cardinal sent Tom.
Tom came out and spent an hour asking questions and answering mine. He walked me through several options varying in price, efficiency, noise, etc and why I might choose each. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and he genuinely seemed interested in making sure we got the right thing.
I got estimates from Tom that night. I sent him questions via email. He responded within hours...every time. Amazing level of service for this type of thing, in my opinion.
Once we had picked things and scheduled, Luis and team showed up...on time. Luis walked me through what they'd be doing, in what order and how long he expected things to take. Everyone I met on his team was very nice and all took care to make sure they let me know if they were inside, had questions, etc. Both days they were done slightly before when they expected and everything was left better than they found it.
Just went through the final city inspection today. Zero issues.
Loved the entire experience with Cardinal. Every person I talked to felt like they were happy to be helping me and the final product has been great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
During a kitchen remodel in 2006, we needed a heat vent put in. I called our old furnace company and asked them to send someone out or refer me to a source. They had no one who could do this nor could they recommend anyone. I ended up connecting with Cardinal. Job done in one week, no problem at all. I switched to them as our service provider for furnace maintenance and have been happy ever since. Fast forward, downsize 2013. New/old house had a cold air return that sounded like a wind tunnel when the furnace turned on. The TV volume control button was getting worn out along with our hearing. Called Cardinal and again, they solved this problem for us. It's nice to work with a business that can solve problems as well as the general maintenance.
