tl;dr version: Terrible experience with a lot of questionable upselling of a pricey new unit when it wasn't necessary.

Regular version: Our AC went out in the middle of a heatwave so I called UAT to come out to diagnose and repair the problem. They did a cursory look at the indoor and outdoor unit then hooked up the coolant pressure gauges. The pressure was low, which was to be expected given the AC unit was blowing room temperature air. They then informed me the quickest way to resolve the problem was to purchase a brand new system at the low-low price of $9,898. To resolve the leaking coolant problem it would be around $2,000 (given their super secret coolant blend - mine takes standard off the shelf 410A) and would take another week to get scheduled.

Given the sticker shock and the questionable timeframes, I reached out to another company who came the same day. They took the panel off the interior unit (which UAT did not do) and found significant icing on the coil. They then thawed it out and further identified a failed TXV valve which they were able to order immediately. Had I waited a full week to have UAT perform the repair there would have been even more ice built up on the coil and the broken valve wouldn't have been identified and ordered until a full week later.

Not only was I extremely disappointed with the ineffective service call, the consistent attempts at upselling a whole new unit especially during a heat wave and having two small children boarders on predatory business practices.

The technician may have had a bad day and just missed the system problem and the company might be great at installing new units (neither of which I can confirm). However, if you are in a pinch and need a trustworthy company to help you with anything else I would advise looking elsewhere.

UPDATE: UAT reached out and resolved the issue. Wasn't charged for the service call that misdiagnosed the problem.

It literally took 5 minutes to schedule an appointment and they had availability the next day! The gentleman Josh was very nice and friendly. He arrived early, which was great and was able to fix our furnace the same day! He talked to us about getting a new furnace but wasn’t pushy or extra. He simply provided us with the information needed if interested. Great experience. Would definitely recommend!

We bought an old house in Alexandria that had an A/C system that kept the main floor cool but the upstairs were very hot.

Before they came by to look at the system I was afraid we were going to have to add a ton of extra ducts or possibly a full new zone with a new condenser / handler possibly costing over $10,000. They ended up adding an automatic damper solution that basically creates a 2 zone system in our home without actually adding a true 2nd zone.

United Air Temp did an amazing job diagnosing the issues with my current system, making a recommendation, and finally installing an automatic vent damper system in my A/C Handler as well as installing a bypass from the main trunks back into the return. They also added a new thermostat to control the upstairs vents and installed 2 Nest Thermostats that we provided.

From quote to completion the job took 2 weeks (3-4 days of quote discussion on my side, 1 week for parts to arrive, and 1 day for installation to occur). The team were courteous, clean and professional. They laid down plastic wrap in all the areas that they were going to be walking to keep our house clean. The job took approx. 6 hours to complete and it was done in 1 day.

I feel like pricing was reasonable, I didn't get any other quotes on this project from other companies because I felt like I trusted UAT to give a fair price. They offered a payment plan for 18 months at 0% interest as long as it is paid in full before the 18 months is up.

Total price for job $4000, paid $1000 down and financed the rest for 18 months at 0% interest.

We already see a HUGE difference in the temperature for our upstairs bedrooms (very important considering we have a toddler). Based on my understanding of HVAC systems this work will extend the life of the rest of my HVAC systems (compresser, handler, furnace, etc) as well as save a ton of money on energy consumption. Because of the bypass is sending unused, cooled air back into the return when the damper is closed the Condenser and Handler don't have to work as hard to cool the air coming in because it's already using cooled air.

I have learned a lot from talking with the technicians and feel comfortable knowing that our system and house are in good hands. I will definitely continue to use them for annual servicing.

This company is probably the worst company I have dealt with so far. My AC unit broke, it had a leak the guy came out didn't find the leak and closed the ticked. I got the ticket reopened the same guy came out and again couldn't find the leak and closed the ticket again. this issue has been going on for 3 months now and we are still going in circles. They aren't professional, customer service is close to none, technical knowledge close to none, save your money go find a different contractor.

5 star because I like the technician that I had. but I have other issues which I will mention later in another review.

My name is Cinthia, tech was great. He listened to all concerns and fixed any issues.

The performance quality was about 50% less than the previous year, I called the office to express my concern. They agreed schedule someone else to come back for a follow up to correct the performance. My units are in the attic of my house which gets hot by noon time. Plus, the individual was bigger than the previous individual and was unable to access all of my units.

I have a annual service contract with Untied air temp to conduct the tune ups on my unit. They always send trainee techs for this service. The last tech was on the job for 6 months and just got out of their training program. He took 3 hours for a job that should only take one. He ran into a problem
and kept looking at the unit and calling the supervisor for instructions..

The technician Ray was amazing, polite and professional. Not only did he arrived on time, he explained what he was doing and if I would give him Access to do that.
This company is the only one I have doing all my I home maintenance. And most importantly they are budget friendly.

United Air Temp installed a new water heater for us. Installing a much larger tank in a tight space and having to update the pipes to today's code was tedious, I'm sure. But they were pleasant, professional, worked quickly and were very time efficient. We have been very happy with our installation. We would DEFINITELY use them again.
