Worst experience ever! Technicians arrived to fix our hot water heater sensor which blew due to our refinishing our floors while on vacation. It did its job. We called B&B to fix the sensor. They informed us that the company that makes the sensor has gone out of business and that it is no longer available. The alternative part is "very expensive" so they are going to try to clean everything with no charge so as to avoid the need for the expensive part. Low and behold, the cleaning does not work. So, they tell us we must order the expensive part at $1800 to fix the hot water heater. By now, they have us completely emotionally elevated......so then they tell us that since the unit is 11 years old, we may want to consider replacing the whole unit for just another $1000.00. While we almost go with their recommendation, I must first hear from the State Hot Water Heater people that the sensor is no longer available anywhere and that the more expensive part is the only way to resolve our issue. I call them and give them the serial number for our heater and they quickly come back on the line and say, "its available." Can you over night it to our house? "yes." We have the phone on speaker and the technicians can clearly hear what the information is being relayed. We order the part. They never intervene saying oh good, we can install it when it arrives. In fact, they state, "we are not sure we can return to install it, we get our orders from dispatch." Fine. Leave. We are done! We have the part on the way. They exit our house, but offer to have their boss give us a "second opinion." Mind you, we have been through this issue previously when we did our basement floor. No thanks- we don't need a second opinion. Cancel the hot water heater installation please! We don't need it. They then leave our house and sit in front of our house for the next 30 minutes, periodically knocking on the door. I of course am not answering- why would I? Conversation ended, please leave. The next thing I know, I have a second guy knocking on the door! After about an hour of them trying to have another shot of getting me to install a new hot water heater for NO GOOD REASON, they finally leave. UNBELIEVABLE! Last night after going online, my husband was able to research the problem, find the You Tube for re-setting the hot water heater and low and behold, we had hot water! Today, the part that is "no longer made" arrived in the mail. We paid 72.00 for it even though we don't need it. It is literally a plug in part and when I asked the State Hot Water folks yesterday to recommend a plumber that could install it, they refused to give me a recommendation and said they were confident that we could install it ourselves, give them a call back and they would walk us through it. It was merely a plug in part. Sure was! This "service call" from B&B was nothing more than a fleece job! They completely mislead us in what was wrong and how it needed to be fixed. Thankfully, we caught on to their scheme and saved ourselves 2800.00! Unfortunately, they lost a long time customer on this ridiculous scam!
