I manage a High Rise Condominium in Salt Lake. As a business, most contractors I talk too think I don't care about money and the cost of repairs. You couldn't imagine the quote I get to fix things. Steve and his company replaced a furnace for me (my building) He charged me 3200$ my next closest bid was 4800$ (this was a commercial furnace). His guys were great. very knowledgeable, and polite. The summer last, Steve and I helped 12 of our owners replace their A?C units that were over 22 years old. Most contractors would have charged each owner full price. Steve is a top notch, lights out business man! He Installed my new HVAC system earlier this year and that was excellent. Then, today he walked me through step by step over the phone free of charge how to trouble shoot and fix my older system to keep it running. Highly recommend this company.

Steve was amazing. I realized that my furnace wasn't working properly just before a cold front came in. I called over 12 different companies, none of which were able to come service my furnace. I got a hold of Steve and although he didn't have time to come to my house he did take the time over the phone to troubleshoot my problem and got my furnace working before the cold hit. I was amazed that he was willing to do this over the phone. I was so impressed that I scheduled him to come back a week later to clean and maintain my HVAC and humidifier. You just don't see this level of customer service anymore. I'd strongly recommend!!!

This last summer my air conditioner went out. It was time it was 23 years old. I had received 3 bids to replace my unit. Each bid was around $5000. Steve suggested we might consider replacing the furnace at the same time. I was thinking that would be another 3 grand. Steve' price for BOTH was 5200 out the door. Steve cared more about me and my home than any of the other companies. His guys were very neat and tidy and professional. It is comforting to know there are still good HVAC contractors out there. I would give him and his company 5 stars

There are basically only two things you want from a contractor or service: competence and honesty. We have consistently found both in Preferred Heating and Cooling. Steve has not only upgraded our home to a whole-house on-demand water heating system, but has done the same with our heating, cooling, and water softener systems, even correcting mistakes made from other firms such as catching something as simple as a wire not properly attached, which turned out to be causing the problem. And while that may appear to be a simple fix, it took Steve's trained eye to spot it almost immediately (he didn't charge us, which was not only unusual but won us over for his honesty and frankness). He can tell you how well your a/c or heater is running, as well as how much time you likely have left before their efficiency drops; and he never "pushes" any new equipment or unnecessary repairs on you. He even re-did the odd plumbing setup on our water softener, all while installing a slimmer and more efficient furnace in our basement...there's actually room to maneuver in there now! All in all, we've found Steve diligent, professional, and honest, three things that seem in short supply in today's franchise-oriented corporate world. He's been in business for years, if not decades, just like his friend has been doing roofing for over 28 years (yes, we used him for a complete new roof and found him both reasonable, professional and honest as well). In sum, there are all sorts of flyers and ads and listings but this company is the real deal...Steve backs everything up that he does, making sure that everything is working properly and at its best (we generally only call him back every other year to check if we need any routine maintenance). If you're scratching your head and wondering who to call, give Preferred a try. Like us, you'll probably use him and only him for all of your heating and cooling needs.

Steve and his team installed a furnace and AC unit for a a fraction of a price that another company quoted me and tried to get me locked into a contract. My mind was blown with his professionalism and was able to get the AC running that day. Steve and his team did such an amazing job, we had him install a tankless water heater a few months later.
