American Building Services has done an outstanding job for us with all of our AC/heating issues for many years. I give them the highest rating.
Over the years, Jake Robins with ABS, in addition to many others on their team, have helped us out many times on our older house in McKinney, and also with our newer home after we moved to Allen. I can't speak highly enough of this company, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to have their AC/heating system serviced or repaired.
They are honest, timely, and very fairly priced with everything that they have done at our homes.
Outstanding work by ABS construction director Mike Rentie! I had to have a support beam and posts replaced on my house. Mike was amazing to work with. He put me on the schedule immediately, assembled and supervised a great team as well as sourced out the materials at a good price. The work was done quickly and the site was kept clean. Mike was on top of every aspect of the operation and made a stressful situation almost pleasant... and the house looks fantastic!
After having two different companies try to solve our issue of our dual speed A/C unit only running at one speed, Jake came out, tested the system, called the manufacturer and worked closely with our Home Warranty company to figure out the issue. Jake had to come back several times after getting conflicting information from the manufacturer. Jake’s professionalism (explained everything he was doing in laymen’s terms, texted us with updates, showed up when he said he would be here, overall demeanor) and persistence in getting the issue resolved was greatly appreciated. We will be asking for ABS whenever we have warranty issues and whenever we need annual service on our heating or cooling needs.
Jake came out to clean the A/C at my new house. It was a hot mess, pun intended. I added before and after photos to the photo section. Total glow up for my A/C as the kids would say;)
Extremely professional, knowledgeable, great communication and educated us on the basics of care as well.
I was not available, so Jake met with my boyfriend, but he texted me continuously to make sure I was updated, clear and on board with what was needed and happening.
He also showed my boyfriend how to routinely clean and how often to keep the unit life longer, create more efficiency and hopefully save a bit on electricity.
He even sent me pictures before, during and after cleaning as well as what exactly he did and why.
My central air stopped working, still under warranty. The other company that installed it wasn’t available. Referred me to another guy. That guy told me the warranty wouldn’t apply, estimated $4000.
Luckily a friend of mine pointed me towards American Building Services. Jake came over and diagnosed it that day and they replaced it the next day, under warranty, for waaaaay less.
Thank you for your expertise and integrity. Great work.
We called ABS over a month ago because our upstairs AC stopped working. They came out and their service men were very nice. They told us we would need to purchase a whole new AC unit. That cost us thousands of dollars, but in this Dallas heat, we had to get it done, so we did. They came out a short time later and replaced the system. A short time later it stopped working again. They came out and said that our sink was clogged and that they couldn’t fix it and we needed a plumber to come out and flush the drains, so we did. It began to work again.
A few days later it stopped working again. ABS came out and said that the pan and pipes by the AC unit were clogged and we needed to replace all of that, costing over $800 (again, we had JUST got the ENTIRE unit replaced costing over $5,000). They told us it would continue to stop working if we didn’t get that all replaced. This was frustrating to say the least considering we just got what we thought was everything replaced and thought we wouldn’t have any issues.
The upstairs unit has worked since. And last week our downstairs until stopped working. So we called them to come fix it. Both my husband and I called them every day for a week straight. The person I spoke to blew me off saying it was the clogged drain again. (How would you know that, considering you haven’t come to look at it, and it’s a totally seperate unit?)
He said he would have the scheduling person call us to have someone come out to look at it. No one called. So we continue to call just to have him blow us off and completely ignore us. Mind you, we’ve spent THOUSANDS of dollars with this company, just to be blown off and ignored.
After a week in Dallas heat with no AC in our downstairs, and being ignored by this company, we called someone else.
I gave them two stars because the techs who came out were always nice, but beyond that, incredibly frustrating to be treated like this by a company we’ve spent so much money with.
Edit: the techs were nice, but I changed it to one star because our top AC went out today, (mind you; everything is BRAND NEW up there) and no it’s not the drain being clogged because no one uses the upstairs bathrooms. It’s me and my husband. That’s it, and our room is downstairs.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Pathetic, actually.
