Horrible company.. calling me last min to reschedule my appointment and my house had been cold since November 11 when I moved in and the lady got mad and hung up the phone becos I’m mad and I was expressing my feelings without even cussing or anything ..they need to be out of business because I don’t know how you run a company and only have one technician..this is sad and annoying because my house warranty is with them…
But thanks to Peggy for calling me back and making it work ..the rude lady was Samantha..she needs more training

Dustin Smith went above and beyond with resolving an issue about HVAC noise and vibration. He was extremely professional and helpful, at every step of the process he was communicating and explaining what the issue was and what action he was taking to resolve it. Absolutely the best service experience I’ve ever had.

My extended family is meeting here for July 4th and A/C stopped working! Another A/C company looked at the unit and diagnosed it as a problem that requires replacing the entire outside unit for about $2500 to $3500. Houk's gentleman shows up and in about 15 minutes fixes a loose screw and for good measure cleans up condenser lines before leaving! This amazing servicing beyond expectations. Thank you Houk!!

Outstanding customer service. Our tech Michael was very knowledgeable about our systems history. He worked on the issue and got us up and running. They will be out again to finish repairing our issue, but he explained everything that was going on and provided excellent service.

Houk installed a new system in my house; from day 1, the system will not keep my master bedroom or bathroom cool. Those two rooms are 8-10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. A tech came out to my house last Friday, July 22nd, found that the system was not balanced properly, and said the office would call me to schedule an air balance. The office finally called me four days after the visit and informed me they do not have a crew available to fix it until August 8th, which is over two weeks after the original visit.

At this point, my wife and I have to sleep with our door open and sweat in our master bathroom. We have to keep our AC set to 65 to even get our bedroom to feel like 75. I don’t know how Houk serves customers after doing a new install, and then they cannot send a tech out to make their mistake right for over two weeks. If you have time to do the new install, they should have time to come back and make the customer happy, especially after their tech said it wasn’t balanced properly. I’d recommend using a company that can serve you quicker than a two-week wait time in the middle of summer.

I have been a customer for 40+ years, so naturally, in the midst of an awful heat wave, this is the company I turned to to replace a dated AC system that was freezing up almost daily.

    1) I was prepared to wait the WEEK before the sales rep could visit.

    2) He took measurements and left with no consultation on what was needed/possible and certainly NO INPUT FROM ME, saying only that he’d send an estimate in a few few days. And that it would be at least 5-6 weeks before they could do any work.

    3) I called on days6 & 7 to see where the estimate was. I left a message with the sales office which was not returned, and spoke to the sales receptionist the next day who told me that an email had been sent, but that the rep would have to resend it.

    4) On day 8, I received an email stating that I needed a larger system and a complete reconfiguration of my ductwork, but that since my existing structure didn’t meet their installation quality standards, they couldn’t give me an estimate.

This left me flabbergasted. Having studied architectural design in college, I could see several fairly easy solutions to expand the vent system, or to supplement a standard HVAC system with a ventless system. I was never consulted at all.

Clearly, they don’t need my current or future business for either new systems or maintenance of the existing 3 units on my property.

I called another BBB A+rated company, who sent a sales rep within hours and installed the following day.

Houk installed my HVAC system through the builder that built my home 15 years ago. I had trouble with balancing which they came out and took care of under the warranty, then I added another Air Return to the master as it was a long way from the closest return and they did that work. But my bill was always high for a 2500 Sq Ft. 1 story home with only 2 people and 1 of them out of town almost half the month every month, I had checkups done and complained about the high bill but was told I must run it hard or something. (I did not) After 10 years the unit started tripping the breaker. I called them and they said I needed a new A/C. In the mean time my neighbor who has a 3300 Sq Ft home with 3 kids and 2 adults always home had the same bill as me and sometimes lower, told me about the company they use so I called them and they came out and said I only needed a new breaker which I could fix for about $6.00 and my a/c could use a charge which they did and the whole appointment was $225. A far cry from the $7000 I was told by Houk I needed.
A year and a half later my unit stopped and I needed a new board. So while they (the new A/C company were there I ask them to check my duct work and maybe put mastic on them and pull the ducts straighter instead of the swag they had in them. That is when they discovered one of the ducts was loose and blowing cold air in the attic. Then they discovered 2 of my big returns in the attic had never been tightened down and was just sitting on the return and was sucking in hot air. So for almost 12 years it had been this way. They tightened everything down and sealed it with mastic and the difference has been incredible. I used to run my A/C at night on 72-73. Now I run it on 76-77. My bill has dropped also. I have spent $1000's of dollars too much on my bill over those years because of shoddy work by Houk when they installed my unit. I can not believe the difference it has made to my house since it was fixed properly. I had the only home back then in my neighborhood back then that had radiant barrier and R-38 insulation because I wanted to be energy efficient and my unit was working against me the whole time thanks to Houk.

Houk replaced my entire HVAC residential system in summer of 2021 at a fair price, in my opinion. They have a great sales, installation and maintenance team. They always gladly answer my questions when they are at the house and simply get the job done.

I know that there are many folks out there needing AC in this Texas heat for sure. We had ALL 3 of our units go out within a 24-hour period. Thankfully, we already had a service call in place with Houk AC. They showed up as scheduled and Dustin Smith was THE BOMB! He was able to restore 2 of our units that day which is good because they were downstairs and we did not have anyone sleeping upstairs at that time. Peggy called the day of that service to let us know that we were still going to be serviced even though it was almost 6pm and Dustin did not get there until almost 8pm...I DID NOT CARE!!! that was GREAT customer service. Dustin showed up on a follow-up appt and serviced our 3rd unit and got it working....I am a HOUK AC fan for life. The people were AWESOME and the service they provided was top notch.

We've used HOUK for all our heating and A/C needs for years, including installation, annual routine maintenance, and repair. In November, 2019, we installed a new high-efficiency, variable-speed Trane system (A/C and heat).

The system worked perfectly until recently when it failed. HOUK sent one of their most experienced technicians (Michael Fife) to diagnose and fix the problem. The issue turned out to be somewhat esoteric and required a replacement part to be ordered directly from the manufacturer (Trane). Michael installed the replacement part and the A/C returned to working perfectly, as it had before.

Many thanks to Trane, HOUK, Michael Fife, and Peggy Hall, who was my point of contact at HOUK and stayed on top of things to get our system fixed and up and running again as soon as possible.
