DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!! We went through this company with our home insurance. They came out and fixed our a.c., that only worked for a day. Had them come back out a week later to have it "fix" again, they said to leave a.c. off for an 1hr then turn back on and it will work. Had a.c. off for 2hrs and once I turned it back on it still did not work. Have been going back and forth with our insurance saying they contacted them to have part expedited. It's will be going on 3 weeks this Monday and we still have no part and nothing has been fixed! They also stated, they are booked and will hopefully try to get us in once the part is in, if they have a cancellation in their schedule. The temp in our home has been 87+ degrees inside with the doors and windows open.
My unit outside quit working on a Wednesday night. All I knew is the fan quit turning on the unit outside and it was getting hot in the house. I called AHS and was assigned to America Air Conditioning out of Abilene. Next day(Thursday) I called first thing in the morning to schedule a service call and initially receptionist said they couldn’t come out to look at it until Wednesday or Thursday the following week. That was not going to work. No A/C in July in Texas is not pleasant. I contacted AHS who in turn contacted the company and I was informed they would be at my house Friday sometime between 1-3pm or later to service my unit. To my surprise the tech showed up Friday before 1pm to look at the A/C unit. Will was the tech and I made a point to ask for his name because he could not have been more polite and professional and I appreciated him taking the time to explain to me what he found. He had also mentioned bringing extra parts along in case it was something else. That’s a first! I have had contractors show up, rude, not professional in the least and unprepared. Needless to say Will had the part needing to be replaced and was quick to replace it! This is the first time I have ever had such a smooth experience with an A/C company contracted with AHS! I would recommend America Air Conditioning out of Abilene to anyone and if given the opportunity ask for Will! Thank you America Air Conditioning for a job well done!!
My mother had been patiently waiting for 3 weeks on this sorry company. They said the core was cracked and needed to be replaced. They said they would turn in the information to Old Republic for approval (this was a Friday). The next week Old Republic said they didn't turn in all the needed information. A week after the initial visit the part was finally approved. 2 weeks later and multiple excuses about the part not being in my mother had enough. She's been without an AC for 3 weeks with triple digit temperatures. They told her earlier the part would be in at 8AM and she would be at the top of the repair list.
Friday at 9:30 she called and was told parts didn't come in until later in the day, and even if her part came in she'd have to wait. She's been waiting on them for 3 weeks! She got mad and told them her frustrations, and about 10 minutes later Old Republic called and told her American requested the ticket be transferred. Later that day another company came out and had the AC cooling in under 30 minutes, and it's been running strong all weekend.
American Air Conditioning are liars, they wasted almost a week because they didn't give Old Republic all the necessary information, and I really doubt they even ordered the part. All we heard was "the part's coming", but they kept saying it for 2 weeks. Mom's house was over 90 degrees for 3 weeks (hitting 97 a few times), and it took all of 30 minutes for another company to get the AC working. Do not use or trust this company!
They are not members of the Better Business Bureau, and based on other, similar stories about American I will NEVER recommend them to anyone.
If zero stars was an option that would still be too high of a rating. Ever since American installed our brand new unit in we have had problems with them. It was pretty clear that Adam was in it for the sale only. Every time the season changes we have to call them to come look at it. We MIGHT get a call back. Sometimes. Eventually. I called them on 6-6-18 and here it is 6-11-18 and still no return phone call. The times they have showed up they were very condescending to my wife and told her the only issue is the air filter. I get home and talk to the guy then he checks Freon levels only to figure out that they are low. He was going to leave before checking that until I got there. Another time their technician “rigged it” so that our auxiliary heat was always on. Well. The air was still not warm and our electric bill was in he $700 range. They came out again to take another look. They said that he shouldn’t have wired it up that way and “fixed” that. Then it was the thermostat being wired wrong. Then it was a bad thermostat. Granted they did change it out. For the fourth time since install. They came back again to look at the cold and said they were dirty. After they left I looked at the system myself and had to reconnect the ducting that they had taken off and left their trash in the attic. Not once since the installation of our unit has Adam came to check on things, or look at the problems himself. He sells a great game, aftercare is horrible though. They tend to put a patch on a problem so you keep calling them back for more service calls. The most recent issue was solved by calling in an outside company to check on it. After every time American has come out they never hooked up the thermostat right. One wire. That was the problem. I’m honestly amazed how American is still in business. I did notice that Adam and his wife have given themselves 5 star ratings. What really get to me is that Adam and I are both veterans. How are you going to do that to a brother in the armed forces?!
Not a honest company by any means! Told me my system was bone dry of Freon and maybe somebody had stole it.. I’m thinking so they could get the home warranty to pay for a full system of Freon .. 2 people I talked too who are certified and have been doing this for 39 years combined said they have seen 2 times in that amount of time where somebody has stolen Freon.. the second time we used this company they said we had a dirty coil and it needed to be cleaned and that’s a 405 dollar cleaning.. got a second opinion and they showed me pictures my coil is clean and has 90% air flow.. turns out they let me, my kids , wife and dogs stay in the heat for 4-5 days because they wanted to make a few extra bucks trying to scam us.98 degrees is what my thermostat said for 4-5 days.. kids were miserable. it was clean the whole time just had a small leak and a pound low of Freon.. Thank God for honest people who helped fixed it after you guys have a wrong diagnosis.. I hope all this was by accident and you guys really cannot tell a dirty coil from a clean one.. hard to think companies would actually do something like this and lie..but heard you guys are known for this and do shady stuff all the time.. my review I hope nobody uses this company ever..
My air conditioner was dimming the lights when it turned on so, I called America A/C and Heating. The technician worked around my schedule and came out exactly when he said. He recommended a part which he installed on the spot and made sure my system was up to code. The price was great and the service was even better. Very Pleased!!!!
I can’t speak to previous reviews that were posted – Things change. However, I wanted to add my own POSITIVE experience with 247 America Air Conditioning & Heating, based out of Abliene, Texas. I too am an American Home Shield customer and my central A/C went on the fritz Saturday June 23rd, 2018. I put in a request to AHS that evening and they assigned my ticket to 247 America Air Conditioning & Heating. I called and spoke to Linda at their office and she said they would schedule a technician to come out of Monday their earliest available time. The technicians arrived as scheduled, (Josh and Josh – very nice guys) and took a look at the unit. I explained what the unit had been doing and they looked at it and determined that the fan motor capacitor had died and replaced it. When they left the unit was running. A short time later when I went and checked on it, the fan on the condenser unit was no longer running. I called Linda and told her that it failed again shortly after they left. She contacted the technicians and Josh called me to find out what had happened. I explained the situation and he said they would call dispatch and come back out. When they arrived they determined that the fan motor had died and they would have to order a replacement. They immediately ordered the replacement, but told me that the earliest they could get it and install it was probably going to be Wednesday June 27th, 2018. So we were dreading 2 ½ miserable days (triple digits) without A/C. Imagine my surprise when early the next morning (07:17 am Tuesday 06/26) Linda called, I missed the call, but she immediately sent me a text message and followed it up with another call, before I could even call her back to let me know that the technicians had the motor and would be out to install it between 11:45 am and 01:45 pm. They arrived before noon, installed it and had everything up and running in about 30 minutes. So my wife and I spent a nice evening with A/C instead of another night burning up. My hats off to Linda, Josh and Josh who did a great job and were professional, timely and courteous. I would use 247 America Air Conditioning & Heating again without reservation! Thanks guys!!
They never return calls. If you get a hold of them it is because they finally answered by shear luck. It has been over 2 weeks since we have not had A/C and American Homeshield said we are responsible for upgrades that the company said we need. Which they never told us about. The communication of the company is compared to a ghost.
First things first, Linda (the receptionist) at American air conditioning and Heating is Trash. As a receptionist you are employed in an office or other establishment to answer the telephone, deal with clients, and greet visitors; right? Or am I wrong? Poor communication is frustrating. This company needs a training on communication. American Home Shield sent out this “company” on July 15th, We did not talk nor see them until the day of July 18th. If I could post a screen shot of how many times my husband and myself called this lady to find out information she should have called us about, I would. She never called us to let us know WHEN the part would come in. I had to call 3 times and then finally, I called my warranty and complained. When my warranty called them, magically she called me back. I know we live in a world where texting is easy and fast, but in a professional business, I do not enjoy getting text messages from a company. Today is August 1, 2019 && my a/c finally got fixed. I have three children and the heat is ridiculous, what was the point in “expediting” the part to come in if i was still going to have to jump threw hoops just to get somebody to call me about information regarding my home. Linda would not return calls or text messages unless I blew up the phone. She would lie about them coming and never actual facts. I don’t understand how she is still working there. Somebody needs to retrain her! However, when the guys did show up, it was fast and so far everything is awesome. (so far). Linda, you are a horrible receptionist and your business management skills should be taken off your resume. Do not come to this company unless you want to wait 18 days and then have to talk to a voicemail with this bitchs voice on it. Have a great day.
We used this company through our home warranty twice and will never use them again. They did not show up in a timely manner then once they did they said call an electrician. The electrician came out and after 30 seconds fixed the air conditioner. The electrician flipped a switch and said the air conditioner company should've checked that before they did anything else.
