Installed a Blue-Tube germicidal UV light, and a Bi-Polar 2400 in the outside gas pack system. System was serviced for the winter inspection. Sterling (technician) discovered mold and mildew inside and outside the fan housing of the outside downstairs unit. He recommended these two products to improve the life of the unit and quality of air circulating throughout the system.
The technician did a thorough job servicing the up and downstairs system. He found no issues in the upstairs newer unit. He was extremely polite, and professional. I trusted his opinion, especially after viewing pictures of what he noticed, and didn’t feel pressured.

I set up the install and asked for the same technician. Sterling showed up on time and completely cleaned the area of concern before installing the products. Sterling then showed me pictures of before, and after. I am extremely satisfied, and will ask for Sterling to do all my service work from now on. There are a lot of companies out there giving sales pitches, and I have no doubt I picked the right company to do the work. They should be sure to give Sterling a “well done”, I know they will or another company will grab him. I am awfully picky about anyone working on my home.

Sterling performed the annual inspection on my HVAC, he was on time, upfront about the work performed and very efficient. Overall it was great experience and I would request his services again!

Every time I’ve used Preferred, for the short time I’ve lived in Charleston, your service people are over the top fantastic. That also includes any people I’ve talked to on the phone. My fiancé said the same thing. Whatever your hiring practices are you might want to pass it on to other companies and businesses.

Zame’s the technician talked over everything with me as he preformed the service on my HVAC system.
Zames’s the service technician did a excellent job and was very very courteous and polite, and very knowledgeable about my HVAC system and what was required.

Preferred sent a tech the very next morning after our call. They kept us informed of when to expect a tech and sent his picture to us ahead of time. Tech arrived on time & quickly discovered where the issue was. He gave us an estimate and as soon as we gave approval, he fixed the leak. He left the area in good condition. We have used Preferred before this, and had just as good an experience. I highly recommend Preferred.

**BEWARE- CROOKED TECH**
We called preferred home services for a “tune up” on my 8 year old a/c unit, that was working fine. A technician named Ted Wirth came out and told my boyfriend we needed multiple items repaired and 4 lbs of Freon in my 7 lbs unit. We agreed and it cost over $700 (for the Freon). The next day my unit would not turn on at the heat of the day. My boyfriend called preferred and Ted Wirth came back out. When I arrived Ted Wirth was advising my a/c fan was broken and was trying to sell my boyfriend a $13,000 unit. I advised I believed my unit parts were under warranty and he proceeded to tell me they weren’t. When I advised I believed they were, he said if they were he would not do the work on the unit then (as if i would ask him to do it anyways). He then proceeded to to ask for $89 to leave. When asked if he advised me to replace the fan the first time he came out and he said he did. We advised him he did not and advised me he documents everything he tells home owners… then proceeded to take his iPad out as if he was going to catch us in a lie. When he couldn’t locate where he explicitly told us the fan was the issue.. he walked away and said “I’m not even worried about it anyways.”

We called preferred and they only wanted to send someone out to look at it again and argued that Ted putting 4 lbs of pressure in my unit was not too much. They did refund the overpriced Freon charge of $700.

We did not trust having the company come out so we had another company come out… who had to bleed off the Freon. Luckily this over fill of Freon did not damage my compressor..which is what we believed happened. My a/c is running fine now. Thank God

We found out Ted Wirth has only been doing hvac for a year.

I honestly do not believe this was an accident… I believe Ted purposely tripped our system on over pressure to sell us a $13,000 unit for his commission. We live a modest life and $13,000 would have put us into debt. Beware of the company of crooks.

We can’t say enough good things about Preferred Home Services! We are so glad we used them for our HVAC. Orlando Woods came today for a tune up. I had some extra questions and he took time to do a really thorough inspection. He took photos so we could see the before and after and explained everything so I could understand. He was very polite and went above and beyond to teach me about what he was doing. I was very impressed! He gets all the stars!

Update 4/13/23: I was reached out to by Jamal and he empathized with my frustrations around keeping my maintenance visits scheduled. A refund check was processed for my monthly PPP payments and I was offered 2 years of membership in the PPP program for free, along with Jamal’s direct dial in the event of any future issues. I’m happy that the company is growing and look forward to giving them another chance in the future to uphold their maintenance commitments.

I contacted Preferred Home Services due to their marketing and because I needed my water heater replaced in 2022. While my initial service was done well, my experience in the Preferred Partner Plan (PPP) was horrible. I paid for this plan for an entire year while being unable to use it due to Preferred Home Services not being able to meet their scheduling obligations. Each time I took off work for a maintenance visit (2 times in 2022 and once in 2023), I would get a phone call from their dispatch telling me that they have to reschedule my appointment due to emergency calls. It is a slap on the face and a scam to pay monthly for a service that you can’t even use. That being said, I requested to cancel my membership in January 2023 only to receive statements in March for a membership fee due from December 2022. Why that wasn’t charged back in December is beyond me.

I will never use this company again (unless I have an emergency repair that I want to overpay for because apparently they have staff available for those customers).
