My central air unit wouldn't turn on the other day and a neighbor suggested to contact JKL. I am always nervous to call for any type of service because you hope the company will be honest, especially because we have no knowledge of these systems. I am so happy to say that someone came today and it was something so minor. He really could've taken me for a ride and said I needed this and that, but didn't. I so appreciate the honesty and booking an appointment for service maintenance. This will be my go-to company and will recommend to family and friends

I was referred by national grid to work with jkl to convert a heating system from oil to gas. Communication was fine before the contract was signed; however, I was treated very differently after it was signed. In the weeks leading up to the project start date, there was little to no communication regarding confirmation and additional questions. I was told that the furnace installation would be complete on the day they started the work. When the team finally came, It wasn’t until the end of the day when I was notified that they wouldn’t be able to complete the work until after the weekend. A weekend without heat and any suitable notice is unacceptable and very frustrating. I understand that not everything works out in an ideal manner, but having calls consistently rejected by Ken, after being invited to call with any questions or concerns is unacceptable. The work they did was/is fine, so far as I can tell, but if you’re looking for a hassle free service and contract, I do NOT advise you to go with JKL engineering(especially not when the New England cold weather is on its way.

Run, as fast as humanly possible, away from JKL Engineering and its owner, Tony Freitas.
I hired them to diagnose a no cooling issue with my AC system. The tech arrived, connected his gauges, and very quickly assessed it as low on refrigerant with a leak in the system. When I suggested that it could perhaps be leaking from one of the two Schrader valves (a simple repair) he replied, “Look, I’ve been doing this for 30 years and don’t tell me how to do my job.”
When the system still wouldn’t cool after sealer and 4 pounds of refrigerant he proceeded to say the system couldn’t be repaired and, per his boss, Tony, the whole system (heat included) must be replaced.
Really? A high-quality, Rheem system installed in 2011 has reached the end of its life in 10 years? I don’t think so..
He then presented a bill for $685 (!) which included $165 for sealant (which sells on Amazon for $65); 4 pounds of R410A refrigerant for $150; 2.5 hours of labor at $365 (he was on site for 2 hours and 5 minutes, but what the heck, let’s pad the bill as much as humanly possibly); plus a mileage charge of $8. And proceeded to ask if I’d like their salesman to come by and quote a new system!
Oh, and just so you know, the check was presented to my bank the very same afternoon it was provided to the tech. Cash the check quick, Tony!
I should have known to stay away from JKL Engineering when the owner was swearing and cursing during my call to schedule service, but that’s my own fault. My advice is to stay away from this company. They are not able nor interested in diagnosing and fixing issues. Their sole motivation is to bully, harass, and intimidate customers into buying new systems. I honestly don't know how this man and his employees can sleep at night, but I’ve provided this review so others can learn from my mistake and not be ripped off as well.

Stay Away!!! I had a new heat system installed one year ago by JKL engineering. This week one of the circulators stopped working, this circulator was not installed by JKL, but it was left over from the previous system. I called JKL yesterday and the owner answered and said that he would call me back this morning. At just after noon time today I called back because I have not heard from anyone at JKL. I was then told that the owner had an emergency and was unable to call me this morning. They said that someone would be coming to my house shortly. Approximately one hour later a technician arrived and quickly confirmed that it was the circulator that was not functioning. Despite the fact that the owner told me yesterday that the technician would have a replacement circulator in his vehicle, the technician told me that he did not keep circulators in his vehicle and that he would have to go to the supply house to pick one up. 2 1/2 hours later the technician still has not returned. I called the JKL engineering main number and the owner answered and said that the technician went to another call because an elderly couple was having and emergency issue. He then said that he forgot to call me and that he would call me back to let me know when the technician would be able to return. This has been eight hours that I’ve been waiting for them to simply replace a circulator. The owner did not seem to care that he was wasting my time. While waiting for a callback to tell me what time the technician would be returning, I checked online with Lowe’s and on the phone with the local supply house to see what the price of the circulator is. The retail price of the exact same circulator at Lowe’s Was $169. The price of the circulator at the local supply house was $140. Since I had no idea when this technician, I was questioning whether I would need to purchase the circulator myself and have someone install it. The installer returned and informed me that the new circulator was going to cost me $395 plus labor for install. Charging the customer a 200% markup is more than profit it’s thievery. I told him that was unacceptable. He left. The owner then called me back and proceeded to verbally berate me with foul language. This business owner is unprofessional. You should stay away from this business.

I recently bought a house and the HVAC system had a minor issue but I was able to get it running again. I called JKL because their sticker was on the system. I told the nice lady on the phone I recently had an issue, and wanted to get a full maintenance/inspection on the system(I had read online that this HVAC system had a recall and specifically wanted that checked as well). She told me somebody would call me back. A man named Manny called me back. Apparently he was upset that I got my system working again and was yelling at me. He said he was sick of people fixing things themselves. I told him it was over weekend, I just wanted my AC working. He was very angry and told me to stop talking. He then gave me a speech on how he doesn't make enough money on recalls and I should buy a new system from him. I said I didn't want to do that yet I just want an inspection. He then swore and hung-up. This guy is rude, and should not be talking to your clients. Stay far away from this company.

Do not waste your time. They lie to have you buy new system and they are very unprofessional. They swear at you and hang up phone in your face.

I wouldn’t have this place service my dog house.
They are rude and they lie.
I almost took them to court.
Find someone else to do the job.
