The technician responded within an hour or two and was able to diagnose the issue and what was needed to resolve it. I was able to get a quote by the next day and was called when my part arrived so we could schedule the repair. The technician also checked our other unit (we have 2) and found that it was off due to a pressure alert trip and told us what we needed to do to correct this. We have been dealing with another company previously and it was over a week with our unit down and they still hadn't prepared a quote to repair it. I would highly recommend Max C. Smith Company!

They have fixed my problems successfully. I plan on having them install a smart thermostat in the near future.

I have called upon the Max Smith company for several services (furnace/heating, AC, hot water tank, house humidifier) for well over 30 years, ever since the original business owner (Max Smith himself) arrived at my home in the evening on a very cold night to hot wire my furnace and provide heat for my toddlers, until repair parts could be ordered and installed. I had called several other area HVAC businesses that evening, but Max Smith was the only one who responded. Max Smith has long since retired, but the employees in the company continue to rescue us when we have emergencies (like a thermostat failure on a Thanksgiving evening when the house was full a few years ago). They practice preventive maintenance of equipment; and when repairs are needed, those repairs are done accurately. Employees are courteous and cheerful.

Paul the service person was professional and very thorough during his visit. He answered my questions and was very knowledgeable about HVAC. I like that he just didn’t assume what the problem was but went through the process of checking out everything and eliminating issues until he found the problem. I will definitely use Max C Smith service again in the future and for regular maintenance.

This review is specifically for Paul, but I have used Max C Smith in the past for other projects (installing central AC) with very good results. I have lived for 3.5 years with a malfunctioning furnace. 3-4 other sets of people kindly offered me a new one immediately, after telling me they just didn't know what was wrong with the furnace (it was 8 years old when I moved in and was being told this). I've spent over $1,000 on this problem and gotten nowhere- it essentially worked when it wanted to, more often than not, but now with being home more, it just wasn't tolerable. With our recent frigid temps, it decided to stop working for 18 hours (instead of the usual 6-10 hours) and so I called Max C Smith. Paul came, and pretty darn quickly (no tinkering for 2 hours while saying, "hmmm, I just can't see anything wrong" and charging me for the pleasure) said "It's the circuit board". He called Trane to verify his diagnosis and then noticed my pump wouldn't stop running and gave me options on that as well. Would you believe that after 3.5 years, after Paul replaced my circuit board, my furnace is pumping 68 degree air consistently, and, when I change the thermostat, the furnace will react? It's a dream :-) I'm still in disbelief that it's working and still waiting any second for it to shut off....but it's not....so fingers crossed and I'm stunned no one before Paul would have noticed a malfunctioning circuit board. I'm so glad he came, and he tolerated my moaning about the furnace not working for 3.5 years while figuring out the problem. Thanks Paul! He said I could request him in the future and I will.
