Had an appointment this morning to check our heater to make sure it was operating properly. Received a call from Mike telling me in not a nice way it would cost 114.00 for the guy to walk through our door, okay with that , we didn’t except it to be free. Mike went on to rant in a nasty tone about the service charge, possible parts fee , etc. We never used Duffy our former heating guy retired so we figured we would stay local and try someone new . Our someone new will not be Duffy my suggestion is Mike brush up on his people skills.
Quick, friendly service. Thorough technicians. This is a family owned business and you can really feel that. There are many ways to pay your bill with ease. I'm way more than satisfied with this company and will not go anywhere else. Thank you so much!
Joe and his crew spent two days installing a Combi boiler to replace old boiler and water heater. They were on time, cleaned up, and the installation looks great. Joe explained how the unit operated and marked all the shut-offs and pipes. I can't comment yet on the unit itself yet but the company takes their work seriously.
We love Duffeys. Great service and value. It feels like they truly care about keeping my equipment running well. Their techs are courteous and were conscious about safety (Covid-safety) when they serviced my AC recently.
Duffey has a customer for life in me! They recently installed two Weil McLain boilers in my home and had a team work in a couple days to get the job done right. It’s refreshing to have a professional job and receive what you expect when hiring a company. Thank Duffey team!
As a naive new homeowner, I ran out of oil right when it got cold. I called DE Duffey and had my tank full and heat running in an hour and a half, including the bill settled. I also appreciated that they didn't try to sell me anything except the service I asked for. I will definitely continue to do business with this company.
I had a pretty mixed experience with Duffy’s. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: -Calls were returned relatively promptly -courteous staff
Cons: -for a company that deals with essential appliances that can break on a dime, they hold pretty strict business hours. For my first call, who was an emergency heat call on a Friday, I was told to wait until Monday, when they wouldn’t be able to come until after 4. Seems like a tight window for folks who work (I had to rush home from my hour commute not wanting to miss my window). -first tech that came diagnosed the problem as just an off emergency gas switch. I questioned whether this was really the issue and asked him to kindly stick around for 10-15 minutes until the radiators warmed up. He assured me they would. I didn’t push him on it, trusting his judgment. Lesson learned- doesn’t really pay to be patient anymore! Sure enough heat never came on and I was back at square one trying to get another tech, this time using one of my sick days to do so. Please respect your customers’ time as we would respect yours. -really unclear pricing. I was told the call would be 115 plus parts, which is fine, except the part ended up being 390 bucks. The at cost price I have found ranges from 190-211, which makes it more than a 75% markup! I understand it being a family business that need to meet healthcare costs for employees and their bottom line, but please be more upfront about part costs with your customers if that’s the case. We’re average people too ( I am a high school teacher ). I wouldn’t even mind paying a markup for the sake of convenience but the scheduling difficulties mentioned above made it not all that convenient.
Bottom line, this seems like a competent company that has been around for a long time, but they didn’t win any new customers with me. It’s a shame bc I’m a new homeowner with an old house (and maybe eventually a need for an entirely new AC system or furnace!) I will go elsewhere.
Amanda is always comforting and professional on the phone when I call. Dan came out to fix my heating system after my hot water component stopped working. He was kind, professional, and efficient.
The Tech was very nice but I think needs training. He basically said I need an exchanger. I called to try and set that up but was ignored after several calls. I had another company come and look at the system and found a plastic bag in the intake of the furnace. Saved me tons of money. I could go on about my disappointment but you get it! Go to another company!
Its too bad there isnt a Six star rating because this company deserves it. They are always very fast with service calls, ie my oil furnace problems, the tech guys who arrive are polite, knowledgeable and get the job done right, and are happy to point out the details of how the equipment functions.
