UPDATE to "They charged over $300 an hour."

This is an update to my review based on the owner's response. The owner, John, asked me to call him so he could "make it right." I don't want someone to read the owner's response and get the impression that the owner was really willing to work with me.

The owner explained to me that he HAD to charge me the rates that they did because they had to cover their "overhead."

Anyone that makes $75, $100 or $150 an hour can probably afford to hire this company and help them cover their overhead. Based on my last experience with this company if you earn an average salary for Oklahoma you may have to spend a week's salary to cover the cost of a couple of hours of work provided by The Home Comfort Solutions.

My recommendation, to avoid being charged almost $700 for two hours of labor and no parts, is to find a company that doesn't have the high overhead cost that John said his company has which, in turn, necessitates them charging the high rates that they charged me. Also, find a company that is willing to work with their customers when there is a disagreement. That's called good customer service.

Original post:
They charged over $300 an hour.
I've used this company a few times so I was an established customer. They charge whatever their "book" says to charge. They call it a flat rate. Their technician disassembled my heating unit and cleaned out the lent. It took close to 2 hours.

They charged me almost $700 for two hours of work.

I called the company to see if they would adjust the charge and they would not work with me. They charged me over $300 an hour plus they tacked on a service charge of $60 just to make the charge sting a little bit more. Based on my experience with Home Comfort Solutions it doesn't matter how unreasonable the charge/fee for their service is, they will not work with their customer to reach a fair agreement. My advice is to find a company that will do a good job for a fair price. $300 an hour, plus a service fee for cleaning lent out of a heating unit....

They worked on three houses for me and come to find out I'm just disposable customer. If they would have have worked with me on the bill they would have made much more money from me as a return customer.

First off, I NEVER write reviews. John and his team consistently go above and beyond with customer care/quality, thus this review is more than warranted. Some history, several years ago I needed a new HVAC system and had multiple business and brand manufacturer reps come out for bidding. Of the 5+ business estimates, John's company stood out with the best warranty, options for my specific needs (using multi-zone dampers with Nest thermostats and the potential for expansion), and of course pricing. Installation was around a full day, but Home Comfort Solutions brought out temporary units for windows to keep us comfortable, and following the installation fine tuning and explaining our rebate options (through Energy Efficiency programs) occurred. The team installing was curious, efficient, and more than accommodating to our requests.

We have had at least one repair required since the initial install, though this was not related to John's team, we needed a jump-start mechanism for our condenser (this was covered by our warranty 100%). Just recently, the system required another maintenance related to the draining (typical stuff any good homeowner is supposed to do) I'm that guy who doesn't do the yearly maintenance recommendations... The unit wouldn't stay on for more than a minute or so before kicking off. This incident occurred on a 95+ degree day and we have a newborn in our home, around 6 PM. I called John in somewhat of a desperate state and explained the situation related to our newborn. Of course their team was booked solid, but John made things work and had his tech, Wes, turn back to our repair while he was on his way back home, off for the day.

Wes completed the repair quickly and explained how to avoid this problem in the future. He even stayed later to ensure the unit was cooling properly and did some additional maintenance while waiting. The service call and repair, after hours, was going to be expensive and Wes pitched the idea of a yearly fee to have Home Comfort Solutions maintain the system twice/year ($195), doing so would also have some other benefits immediately for my repair. Knowing my tendency to not maintain things myself (or know exactly what to maintain...) I purchased the plan. 10-15 minutes after Wes completed the repair, John called to make sure things were correct and I was satisfied, in addition to discounting my repair since I had purchased their yearly maintenance package. I've used many repair services as a homeowner and the level this company goes to in order to do right by their customers is unmatched. I'll recommend John's Home Comfort Solutions to anyone who will listen to me.

Big shoutout to Wesley! We appreciate you giving in your time!

Friday night we kicked on the heater and noticed it was NOT working! We called out an HVAC tech, he replaced the main board, the heater still would not come on. After about 2 hours, he threw in the towel.

I searched around the mustang area and found another hvac tech to come out, late on Friday evening. He fumbled around for about 1.5 hours, again changed the board and finally threw in that towel, telling me that there was a bad batch of boards and would have to wait until Monday for another.

On Saturday morning, I was able to get another hvac tech to come out. He fumbled around for about 45 mins and said that he hadn’t seen this issue and told us to try a company in OKC, he had used before. So we did that…

That Heat/Air company came out Saturday late afternoon. He told us that we needed a board and it would be $800.00. We told him that the board has been replaced 3 times and he insisted. At that point I told him the consensus is the board… just do it. He ordered it up and scheduled to come back out Monday afternoon.

He came out on Monday, installed the board and it still didn’t work. He said it was the flame sensor. We told him “fix it, we are tired of jacking with the heater” he went and got a sensor, installed it, and again no heat. He told us we needed to consult with RUUD as that their unit and needed someone who specialized in it.

We called Home comfort and within 45 mins of Wesley being here, it was fixed…. WE HAD HEAT! Wesley seems to be a younger man, but he sure did put the older fellas that have been out here to shame. The comments I’ve read of this place overcharging are so much BS… I was only charged $75 and actually wanted to spend more! So I signed up for their membership program!

I am 100% satisfied with paying these guys for QUALITY!

Thank you for getting the heat on! You’ve earned a customer!

Overall my system was running. With the weather being so hot, my wife felt it wasn't cold enough. After the service call, technician re-assured that everything was working good and just needed minor maintenance and cleaning done to my system. Tech explained everything and was very thorough. Will recommend for future use

Wesley did a great job figuring out my issue and getting my system up and running.

Fantastic company! Just renewed my yearly service contract with them which is definitely worth having. So far I've only had two different service technicians out here and they have both been wonderful they check out everything thoroughly and answer any questions you might have. Home Comfort Solutions is by far the best and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Fast, efficient and fair. Definitely a company you can trust. Would highly recommend.
