I called the number I always call for air conditioning repair. I didn’t think it sounded right. I went ahead and made an appointment for the next morning. I knew when I made it I should have backed out. Found out this company bought out the company I have always used. I thought for sure something was wrong with the fan but the young man checked and double checked…it wasn’t the fan. I want to say before anyone thinks I didn’t like the worker. He was very nice and he knew what he was talking about. He put Freon in and it’s working until the Freon leaks out. The worker told me I should probably go ahead and replace the unit as it is old. That did make since but the one thing that really bothered me was what the company charged just to come out. Like I said…should have cancelled since I wasn’t comfortable with their charges. I believe it was $100 to come out which is probably normal. The charge that bothered me was a diagnostic charge ..I believe was around $79. That is why I needed someone to come out and why the young man told me my options. Isn’t the reason to come out to diagnose the problem? I would think that is the reason to charge the trip price and the reason is to find the problem. Anyway, I agreed to it when I called as I figured it might take days to get help. So anyway, just want to say I don’t think this was a charge I would tell people about. I would make the visit more expensive or find another way to charge extra. A diagnosis fee sounds like someone will make the visit but not look for a problem. I checked with a couple friends and some neighbors and they thought it was rather a dumb thing to charge for…Anyway, my air is working and the young man did a great job. Just sort of wonder about this company and the one charge…

My furnace was blowing cold air. The technician was on time, professional and knowledgeable and eventually found the problem. A stink bug was blocking the drain line from the furnace causing the heat to cut off somehow, which, of course, I would never have figured out. All that needed to be done was to remove bug, no new parts or extensive work. That stink bug cost me $362! Moral of the story, don’t think those bugs are harmless. They really are “stinkers”!
