Charlie arrived within 5 minutes of our talking on the phone (we live close, but WOW!). He fixed our AC problem and added some freon and our AC was working WITHIN 45 MINUTES OF FIRST CONTACT. That is exceptional service!

Top notch service. They have helped me out many of times when my furnace quit working in the dead of winter. The staff are dependable, honest and knowledgeable. One of the few companies I can pay the bill and not wonder if something was fixed right or if I'm getting the shaft.

We called Baker Heating and Cooling when our AC stopped producing cold air. They were able to come out that day to take a look at our unit. The technician was friendly and professional. However, he informed me there was a leak and when I asked where the leak was, he said typically inside somewhere. He could not tell me exactly where the leak was, but told me it would be $2000 to fix it. Because of this, he recommended a new unit. After he left, the company sent us a quote for a new unit the same day. However, we had another company come out for a second opinion. This technician found the leak within minutes, which was on the outside unit. He explained that another leak could happen at anytime, but that he could repair the leak for $600. Ultimately, we decided to repair the leak for $600 rather than replace the unit. I am giving Baker Heating and Cooling 2 stars because they were able to come out the same day, provided a quote in the same day and the technician was professional.

Charlie is great! He is very thorough and even came back when I had a minor issue free of charge. I will be using them for all heating and air issues moving forward.

I called the after hours line when our A/C stopped working. They came out first thing the next morning and were able to diagnose and repair quickly. Price was fair and reasonable.

I’ll start off with saying that I believe in supporting small community businesses and with that said, the experience I’ve had with this company is not up to fair, honest workmanship. For this, I will only give them 2 stars.
When we moved into the Milford community, we replaced our whole system in 2002 with the original owner of the company. I was so impressed with the company, service and prices. We always had our yearly maintenance services done faithfully.
In 2010 we experienced some issues. We called and made an appointment. That’s when we learned the company had new owners. No big deal. The response time was impressive, the technician was polite and seemed well informed. During the service call we were told there was a leak in the Freon (in fact Baker said Freon was the problem with no air conditioning two yrs in a row). They couldn’t tell from where and that our unit was really old (8yrs) and would need to be replaced and these electric heating and air units usually only last about 10 yrs so we should replace it. We trusted their professional opinion because we’ve never had an electric furnace and we were learning as we went. Also, by the time we would’ve paid for some of the parts and labor that were out, it would be close to the price of a new unit so we decided to go ahead and replace it. It cost us $2222.50 (at that time some of those parts should have still been under warranty, not sure if those were applied to cost or not). We also got a newer thermostat which was replaced 2 times because the first didn’t work and the second was never set properly when installed. (We found this out when we finally had another company come in which I mention below on June 12, 2018).
Back in March 2018, the electrical box caught fire (thank goodness the wall it’s on is brick) and we were told it was from a “surge”, which is what they said caused a lot of the other problems, a surge. I took pictures and had another company come and inspect. No it was not a “surge”, it was an improper “disconnect and whip”. When I told Baker about it today (June 12) they told me the new one that was up was exactly the same as the one that caught fire. I responded with “no. I had it inspected by another company and have pictures”. No comment. They did replace it but, we had to pay for it ... because it was a “surge”.
However, looking back at my personal file of work receipts, I noticed we had many service calls for parts that were “broken or burned out” since the new owners had taken over and that was AFTER we had replaced our unit and had many “power surges” according to them.
Today on June12, 2018, 8 yrs. later, again I was told the whole unit would need to be replaced and it would be $4580.00. I thanked the individual for his prompt response and when he left I immediately called another company who came within an hour after Baker left.
After an extensive inspection inside and out, I was informed that yes, my compressor was out ... BUT ... no, I did not have to replace my whole system/unit. The new company also found some of the wiring not hooked up correctly and this new company called on the compressor ... IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY until 2020. Baker never mentioned that and never brought it up. Hmmm?
I gather from experience with this company, that whether it be because they don’t know how to fix it, don’t want to fix or don’t want to waste time figuring it out, they just tell you “it’s time to replace it”.
Bottom line, I’m being polite when I give them 2 stars. Looking back and learning more (from the experience of dealing with Baker and getting honest answers from another company), Baker has not been as honest as I thought. They aren’t doing fair work for the time, money, energy and aggravation. It saddens me that I learned this after many years of trusting their professional opinion and I had to venture outside my community to give an honest company my business.
I would not recommend this company.

Power surge knocked out my Mom's control board on her furnace. She had no heat. Bakers came out and fixed it in a reasonable time frame and tracked down another problem as well. Price was very reasonable. Would highly recommend.

Good, professional work. Called them after another company decided not to show up to repair my furnace (even after they came out to look at it). They were there in about two hours . . . during a snow storm. Next time, I will call them first.
