Barker Heating and Air Conditioning

I recently finished a whole-house renovation of a 100-year-old house and needed two new furnaces installed. Matt and his team walked me through what needed to be done, showed up on time, and cleaned up as if they were never there. They even handled the rebates with CenterPoint Energy. They made a big job easy.

Barker Heating and Air sent us either an incredibly incompetent HVAC technician, or tried to scam us, maybe both. I called Barker in the fall of 2018 to figure out why my furnace wouldn't run for more than 5 minutes without shutting off and requiring a full reset, the tech they sent first decided to replace a shutoff switch, a cheap part reasonably simple to replace. After that didn't work he decided the main board needed replaced, a repair costing over 500 dollars. When that also didn't work he decided our furnace was simply "too big for the house" and that we didn't have the required airflow for the unit to effectively heat the home without overheating. They did however offer to take the price of the repairs done so far off the cost of the new unit. That was when we got suspicious and got a second opinion. The real cause of the issue turned out to be a clogged exhaust duct. Fast forward to now, Spring 2019, and our AC unit wont run. Turns out the new main board that Barker had installed was installed without connecting the wire from the fan motor to the relay for the cooling circuit. It seems they had hoped we would call them back in the spring for another round of amazing service. Luckily I spotted the discrepancy without the need of another costly service call.

Bottom Line: Avoid at all cost!

It was so refreshing to deal with a company that really treats us like their customer. How crazy is that?! Barker Heating and Air personnel from the top on down truly believe the customer is first in all they do. Everyone was punctual, knowledgeable, professional, friendly and HONEST. Follow-up is just how they roll. Yes, we are recommending one of our daughters get them to check out their HVAC systems. We recommend them to anyone! Thank you Barker!!

I had my air ducts cleaned last November and was really pleased with the job that was performed. Mark was very thorough with his work and even though I never asked, always kept me informed of his job process throughout until completion. Also, the person I contacted for the appointment was very professional and courteous. I would highly recommend.

friendly and Professional. the detail and care to explain their process and inspect the ducts and system before hand was appreciated. We did not know that duct cleaning had been done over 8 years before by previous owners and they showed me where the service sticker was and how the work was done before. Barker has been my first choice for heating and air conditioning service for over a decade. I think that says a lot. With all the choices and constant bombardment of competitor advertising. I ALWAYS feel I receive great service at a fair rate. In fact, once, my furnace went out during a holiday. They were so busy they could not dispatch a technician till the next day. I got a call from a tech in between stops, who talked me through a quick diagnosis, and talked me through a "fix" until they could come out the next day. That rates 5 stars in my book!

I called about my A/C unit, they sent a tech out same day. He had to get a part so it was fixed the next morning... very polite and professional!

We did our homework and had 2 of the area's largest HVAC companies quote our job. They did not listen to our concerns. Then we called Barker. Matt understood what we were looking for and promised they could deliver. Boy did they ever! They installed a customized Bryant system that was better than what the builder did. The entire team was every bit as professional as Matt and completed our 2 day job in 1. We have recommended Barker to all our friends.
