Last summer my ac was becoming increasingly anemic, gradually blowing less and less cool air until the point that it was running non-stop and still not maintaining temperature. Normally I fix these things myself, but Summer is my busy season and I had a sweltering family at home, so I called Slife for help.

Their tech showed up fairly promptly, looked at the furnace/ac in the basement, went out side to hose down my compressor with my garden hose, replaced my air filter and called it all good. He didn't confirm that the problem was fixed as the ac was just as weak when he left. He also never looked at the evaporator coil inside the furnace which, as it turns out was the problem. I can tell you for certain that he never opened the access panel. He was at my house for about 40 minutes, maybe.

This is the "service" I received for nearly $200! The charge for the air filter was about $20 more than the same filter I usually get from the home improvement store, and the charge on the bill for a house call was 1-1/2 times their stated hourly rate, for some reason.

After all that, I discovered that the problem was a frozen (iced up) evap coil, solution; run the heat for 15 minutes to thaw it out. I haven't had any further issues to this day.

As a contractor, I recognize poor quality service when I see it. I can't afford to rely on them again, better to wait and fix it myself.

My heat went off early Sunday morning in January. Called Slife and the answering service was very efficient. A Slife tech called me within 30 minutes, asked the right questions, was hugely patient and, as it turns out, it was the battery in my thermostat. Problem was solved over the phone. They were very nice to deal with - as they have always been. Thank you!!!

I've lived in Lakewood for 30 years, have used their services AND have recommended them to friends and family. I called Slife Heating and Cooling for a small (4 hr) job that I needed to have done. I was told by the secretary that they didn't have time and she recommended that I call two other companies. I explained that I've always been loyal to the Slife company and knew the Slife family for many years and have always spoke with Dave direct. She said "oh I'm sorry, I'll have Dave give you a call." She called back 30 min later to tell me that he said they didn't have time for me. I don't believe that she even mentioned it to him, and if she did...what a slap in the face to a loyal customer. Either way I won't be going back and I will share this story.

Disappointed in my experience with Slife. My initial interaction was very positive; I requested an estimate on a full HVAC system replacement and had someone at my house within a couple of days to perform the estimate. The gentleman I worked with was pleasant and professional. Then he left and I never heard back. After a little over a week I reached out. No response. Fast forward over a month and I have tried emailing, calling, and leaving voicemails. About 10 different attempts to contact over a span of 5 weeks. I have tried reaching out to the tech directly and through the company's main phone number. Still nothing. I tried giving the benefit of the doubt during this crazy time of the year but unfortunately this has been utterly unprofessional.

My Lennox Pulse furnace stopped working. I called another company to come out and look at it first and they said I needed to replace the entire furnace because the part needed was no long made/available and by the way, it'll be $2,300!!? I immediately called Slife and they came out, replaced the part in question (which is STILL being made) and what do you know, heat... and it runs like whisper now to boot. The technician was knowledgeable, price was more the reasonable and service was reliable. Bottom line, I trust them. Highly recommended.

Our furnace broke down and the outside temperature was going to below zero. I called the Slife emergency number and the repairman (Eric) was at my door in about 30 minutes. He diagnosed the problem quickly, went to shop and got the replacement part. He quickly installed it. Eric disclosed the price every step of the way. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I would STRONGLY recommend that you use this company!

They are extremely knowledgeable and fixed the issues quickly and they were very fair with their pricing.

BACKGROUND:

My furnace stopped working over the weekend in the middle of winter and my house was freezing.

A family friend recommended this company, so I called them and they
came and replaced the gas valve on my furnace and everything was great again.

About 45 days later my furnace stopped working again, so I had thought that it might've been a bad part they used to fix it, keep in mind that the during this time, the parts and labor they provided previously were outside of their warranty period at his point.

So I called back and they came out the next day to check on it and make sure that everything was good, it turns out that the part they used was NOT broken, it was actually a broken thermocouple that I had purchased from a big retail hardware store (Lowes / Home Depot) which was causing the problem.

The technician explained to me that the ones they sell in big retail hardware stores are generally garbage and that you should NOT buy one.

He replaced the broken thermocouple with a higher quality one and got me up and running again FREE of charge even when it was not their fault.

AGAIN I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS!

Horrible customer service I’ve contacted them several times for an estimate and still no response. They rep came out for measurements and never followed up on the final details/cost. Definitely taking my business elsewhere!

I call them for my home (forced air) and I call them for my business (rooftop units). They even repaired an under slab duct for me. Fair prices and extremely knowledgeable. I'm so happy I found this top notch company. I rest easier at night knowing I'm not going to be ripped off like the guys who I hired before.

Fantastic family owned business in Lakewood Ohio. Owners and staff are friendly and well versed in their craft. If you are in one of the many Lakewood homes with hot water or steam heat and believe air conditioning is off the table, give them a call. They are certified in both Mitsubishi minisplit and Unico ductless HVAC systems.
