I have left my old recommendation below, because it reflected how I felt when I first worked with NC Express Heating and Cooling. However, I have stopped using their services, and would not recommend them because of two related problems-- bad work, and bad service.

Over the summer, my air conditioner stopped working. As before, NC Express Heating and Cooling came out quickly and spent hours diagnosing the problem. Their solution: the thermostat was faulty, and I would need a new thermostat. Their two options were $700 and $1,100, which both seemed exorbitant. I asked for alternative, and they offered a 10% discount because I had a maintenance account. However, that made a basic thermostat and installation around $600. I declined, and went with another service. They charged over $100 for a diagnostic fee, which seemed fair because they came out and did diagnose the problem.

The new company came out, look at the problem, and told me immediately it wasn't the thermostat. He said, "I'm not sure what the problem is yet, but I know from your description that it's not the thermostat." After a few hours of work, the problem was found-- a short in the HVAC unit itself. The new company fixed it, the thermostat worked fine, and the entire cost was less than the discounted $600 that NC Express had quoted. So NC Express diagnosed the problem wrong, and wanted to charge $600-$1,100 for something that would not fix anything.

I called to ask for a refund for their diagnostic fees because their diagnosis was wrong, and after three calls where I was told they would get back to me, I was finally told that the charge was because they had come out. It didn't matter that their diagnosis was wrong. It didn't matter that I almost paid hundreds of dollars to not fix the problem, and would have had to pay more to get the actual problem fixed. They came out, so they kept the money.

This company loves to talk about their 5 Star Service, and my early experiences with them were good. However, I cannot recommend someone who diagnoses issues wrong, and then refuses to take responsibility for their mistakes. I can't trust them now, and I can't ask anyone else to trust them.

I would highly recommend NC Express Heating and Cooling. I called them (and a number of other places) when the heat stopped working suddenly during our cold snap in November. While most places couldn't help for 2-3 days, or charged $150+ for "after work hours," I was able to get a next day appointment with them, in the evening. They worked with flashlights to figure out what the issue was, and made sure there were not any secondary issues once they figured out the problem. Both gentlemen were polite and knowledgeable: they answered all of my questions, and they provided a clear explanation as to what went wrong and what they needed to do. Because it was almost night when they finished, they let me know that they would have to order the part and they would call once it was in; the very next day, I had a call and they were able to come out and fix it. Their prices were reasonable, and they gave a discount when I signed up for their year-round maintenance coverage. Great people, great service.

Kevin Best did an amazing coming in and performing the bi annual maintenance on our ac and heat unit. He was professional and on time. He was knowledgeable and provided great advise on how to maintain our unit. We will most definitely use his serving the future.

Our heat stopped working the Friday before Christmas so I called Express Heating and Cooling and spoke with Cameron. I was already expecting to have to wait until Monday before someone would come and look at the HVAC but to my surprise, Cameron was able to come the next day! The service was quick and super affordable. I'm am very pleased with this company!!!! Would definitely recommend!

Cameron was a really friendly, professional resource for us. We're researching a new HVAC system right now and he was able to give us lots of different options. All three system choices were GREAT prices for our needs. Definitely will use them when our current system dies. 5 star employee

WOW - What a nice change to have an HVAC guy who is polite, professional, fairly priced and who gets the job done right. I have used a few different local companies in the 12 years I have lived in my home and each one has screwed me over in some way at some point.
I had started to lose faith in HVAC contractors in general and a friend recommended NC Express Heating & Cooling.

My A/C went out upstairs just at the end of the summer so I figured I'd wait till early spring to get it fixed. However then my heating went out upstairs a few weeks ago too and I realized it was time to get my system fixed.
When I called Cameron, he was willing to come out the next day if I needed him but we agreed to make the appointment for the friday of that week. He called before the appointment to confirm and when he arrived, he used shoe covers to protect my carpet,. He was polite and accommodating and best of all after he did all his troubleshooting, he explained everything in great detail so that I would understand what had failed, why it had failed and what part it played in the functioning of the system. He came back that day with all the parts and fixed everything.
He offers interest free financing and regular annual maintenance too.
I am very happy to have found a reliable HVAC contractor and will be using NC Express going forward.

Update 6/7/19
Cameron came out for the first time to my home 6 months ago to fix my system - heating and cooling problems - and did a fantastic job. He was referred by a friend. I gave him a 5 star review back then - well deserved -and wanted to follow up.
I just had Cameron out to do my 1st annual service check of my system as I purchased an annual service plan from him back in December. I have had service plans with other companies and been left feeling very disappointed by the minimal work they did and the obvious signs that they were not thorough at all.
Not so with NC Express....Same great service and professionalism. Cameron spent more time cleaning and checking my system than any other contractor I have used and left everything in great shape.
He told me of a couple of items that would need replacing soon and I went head and got those done. I feel very confident with Cameron and I know he will continue to look after me. Great work!!
