Northern Tool + Equipment

One star is a gift for this unfortunate excuse of an organization. I have never experienced such poor customer service. Scrolling through the reviews, I read an account of northern tool flat out lying to customers, and I’ve had the misfortune of experiencing the same problem.

We purchased a generator August 29th with the promise that it would arrive within 7-10 business days, and that they would be surprised if it would take 7 days. Naturally, we planned our food inventory and scheduling accordingly, and ended up having to waste approximately 500 dollars in inventory. WE STILL don’t have our generator, and have virtually zero information on its whereabouts or when it will arrive. To add to the frustration, Northern Tool claimed they couldn’t track a 2500 dollar machine (which I find extremely hard to believe), but then when we had to call the next day because they didn’t provide the customer service call they “promised” us; we found out through a different employee that our machine had been tracked to DC.

And then again, we were told they would contact us the following day with more information, and received no call. It’s been 3 weeks and we are no closer to receiving our generator than when we ordered it. Keep in mind, they had no problem hitting our credit card immediately after purchase.

My guess is they decided to sell our generator to another bidder, and are scrambling to figure out how to fulfill our order.

I’m extremely disappointed in my experience here, and will never shop here again because I expected my contract to be honored.

if you have something you need as far as tools, or anything mechanically inclined, this is the place in hickory. most times they do have it in stock, if not you can order online for delivery to store(but remember, if you do order online, an the item doesn't work for you, you will have to call the 800 number to get an return to the store or they wont take it back (odd but true). most of the employees are easy to get along with an provide good help in finding things in store. remember a lot of items are china made an most aren't the best in fit an finish, neither will they last very long, most of the finishes (painted items) are easy to rust an most items that are made of cast(motors, pumps) still have the casting left on that should have been removed in quality control. nevertheless, their items are mostly good quality an the service/help is excellent.

Love this store. In all the years I have shopped there, I only had 1 bad experience with a young guy telling me they had a product that they apparently did not have. I shop here a lot and since I haven't seen him since that day, I just overlooked it.

A JOKE!! This company is an absolute joke and a disgrace to all hard working Americans. I ordered a generator being told it would be delivered in 7-10 businesses days. Well it's day 18 and I have yet to receive my product. I called and was told that my $3,000 purchase could not be tracked but somehow they found it in D.C. a day later. This company has now cost me over $500 in revenue and their service is a joke. No one should be desperate enough to use this store. I am HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY displeased and will absolutely never step foot on this property again. BE WARNED!! This company will lie and disappoint you. Do not be deceived.

The Checkout woman directed me to what I was looking for and was very pleasant upon checkout!

Northern is a great place to purchase basically anything you need. They have always greeted me on entering and been friendly when I needed help.

Great customer service, prices on Milwaukee products are almost the same as can find online. With convenience of buying in store. Helped me buy a new 2 post lift.

Lisa was wonderful! She went above and beyond to help us find a part. Every time we go to this store they always treat us great.

Northern seems to have stuff other stores just don’t.
My cashier was DeeDee today and she was such a sweetheart.
The elderly gentleman in front of me dropped his card and she came around the counter to pick it up for him without a second thought. Such a sweet lady.
