We had excellent service from Crossfield, as usual! From our salesman Mark, to our installers, Matt and Eric. Everyone was professional, friendly, clean, and completed the job on-time. We had 3 ductless systems added to our 100+ year old house. We have been using Crossfield for 15 years, we love them.

We use Crossfield for our yearly A/C & heating system service and cleaning. Recently our A/C broke and needed replacing. Crossfield was very responsive and helpful in getting us a quote and speedy installation. The installation crew (Rob S & Ryan M) were very friendly, helpful, and efficient when they installed our new A/C unit and thermostat. They were very helpful in explaining the new thermostat and walked me through the app and new features. Both of them were also very patient and friendly with my super social dog. I am a new customer to Crossfield and could not be more pleased. Their sales consultant, Jordan, was informative, patient with all questions, explained my best options for maximum efficiency in my condo, and there was no sales pressure. Pricing was in line with other systems I researched. The installation was done as scheduled. The installers, Eric H and Mike S, arrived on time, were courteous and very careful. Drop cloths were laid from my outdoor entrance throughout the path to the downstairs utility room. The old furnace and venting were removed from the premises without a trace. The new, two-stage Trane furnace, AprilAire humidifier and digital thermostat with second floor sensor were installed over an eight-hour time slot. When the job was completed, they went over the new furnace (gas shut-off, power switch, filter replacement, etc.), humidifier and digital thermostat and fielded my questions patiently. The Trane unit runs very quietly and the heat has been even on all levels thanks to the two-stage unit. First time ever that I didn't wake up to a cold bathroom upstairs! Additionally, I've noticed that the dust in the house has been significantly minimized thanks to the furnace's whole house air filter. They will be returning in the late spring to install a new AC unit for me, as well. From the sales to the installation, I definitely give Crossfield a five-star rating and would not hesitate to recommend them.

We hired Crossfield to reinsulate our two attic spaces. We had had terrible ice damming problems and wanted to start over from scratch. They removed all the existing insulation and 'baffled' the entire spaces and sealed up all down lighting and ventilation fans and sealed crawl space openings and did other stuff I can not explain. On-time and very neat and friendly workers. Could not be happier. Have used Crossfield for 25 years. Would not trust anyone else.

Recently Crossfield installed a mini split for the entire house. The installers Matt, Rob L., and their manager, Jason, have been, and continue to be, wonderful. Unfortunately, the sales person fell extremely short and I did not recognize it until near the end of the process.

WHAT WENT WELL:

- Salesperson kept me on the list for a new unit without commitment (note that equipment was not available for ~6 months).

- Company was able to get a Mitsubishi mini split system when others could not due to supply issues.

- Installers did an excellent job of placement of the indoor units, running cables in the basement so they were inconspicuous, and cleaning up after themselves.

WHAT DID NOT GO WELL:

- The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was passed prior to the install and the salesperson had no idea how the IRA could impact costs (it's big). It felt like I was educating him and still wonder if it would have been in my best interest to hold off until 2023.

- Salesperson lacked specifics about their offered financing option. When asked if it was a credit or installment loan Salesperson said I could call the associated bank to get more information. After I said the financing is linked on their website and that someone at their office should be able to clarify he did find out the requested information. Note - it's a faux credit card and that will result in a huge / larger drop on one's credit score.

- Salesperson stated the COP of the mini split system is 3.6 to compare fuel costs of mini split vs gas furnace / boiler heat using the calculator on their site. Higher the COP the better. Using 3.6 shows that a mini split should almost always be used for heat given current utility pricing and regardless of weather. What the sales person failed to state is that in the winter the COP will be closer to 1.92 - 2.5 and the winter months are still much more cost effective with gas heating.

- Prior to the install I called the salesperson to verify the placement of the outdoor compressors given that I have less room due to a generator on the side of the house. He said they would fit in the desired space. On the first day of install the installers mentioned that the compressors would not fit where requested. Fortunately the installers took time to find an acceptable solution.

- Lastly the salesperson never followed up after the install to see how everything went and is going. It's been two months.

CONCLUSION:

Crossfield costs significantly more than a mom and pop shop but their costs are in-line with other comparable sized HVAC businesses. Their technical employees are highly qualified and in short I trust Crossfield's quality for installation and equipment service. Unfortunately I'm very disappointed with the experience I had with the salesperson.

After our central AC unit stopped working, Crossfield was able to send out someone rather quickly.
Patrick was able to determine the problem (bad capacitor) and repaired the unit within 20 minutes, then also made sure to check if the AC was working correctly inside the house and checked our furnace. Now it actually feels like our central AC unit is working better than it has all Summer, which is great.
Patrick was very nice and professional, calling before stopping by and explaining everything that was done before taking payment. He also gives ample opportunity to ask questions and nothing felt rushed.
We absolutely recommend Crossfield Heating and Air Conditioning!

Rob Sandman arrived on time, worked efficiently and cleanly, and did amazing work on the installation of our new central AC. His craftsmanship is outstanding. He went over the new configuration of the system and provided clear instructions on maintenance. The cost was right in line with our expectations. Crossfield in general has always been prompt and accommodating to our schedule, and with their Comfort Club we know we will have professional service to keep our systems up and running. I have nothing but good things to say about this company.

We’ve used Crossfield since we moved in and have always had great experiences. This last visit was one of the best as it solved two problems. I requested a free energy audit and in conversation with Joe, I mentioned our basement gets lots of spiders and sometimes other unwelcome guests. He let me know that they offer a basement sealing service that insulates the perimeter and helps deter critters and bugs. Jon and Julian came to install and were on time and friendly. They crawled into the dirty crawl space under my house and installed a vapor barrier and sealed the entire perimeter of the basement. They were respectful, left the area clean, and did a great job. I just wish I’d known sooner that they offer this service!
