Ron, from Long Energy, recently did some repair work on our furnace. It was efficiently repaired and we had heat again shortly. Over the years, Ron has helped us out before and we have always been very pleased with the work that he has done.
If this is too long to read, the short version is: Go with Long Energy - excellent customer service!
Longer version: We bought our (first) house in February 2022 and had no idea who to go with for fuel oil or propane. We started with a different company (not Long) for oil and a different company for propane (not Long). We didn't really know what a good price looked like either, and we were basically over our heads with the amount of money and time and knowledge about a lot of things that needed doing. (Since then we've been able to carve out time from our insane schedules to do lots of research and learning.)
Anyway, our tanks are in the basement, in a crawl space that is hard to access due to our physical limitations. Additionally, the tank gauge was broken when we got it. The technician said the gauge wasn't fixable. The company we were using would not do auto scheduled deliveries, would only come (within a few days) if we called.
Since we couldn't get to the tanks, and the gauge was broken, and because we were new homeowners without a single clue as to how much oil we would need in a given time, unsurprisingly we ended up realizing that we had run out when we returned from an out of town trip on a Saturday night after Thanksgiving (so, November temperatures.)
Without going into all the details, basically cue a lot of unreturned phone calls, a cold night, rudeness to both myself and my wife on the phone, costly fees, and expensive fuel.
I reached out to Long the next day and got started on setting up a new account.
Several factors in life (which I won't get into here but just trust me) got in the way of finishing this process (our fault, not Long's) and we ran out again last night. We are truly not "those" people. We normally do things in a timely manner, aren't late on bills, service things when they are due, and so. But it happened...
Anyway, we made our way through the evening and then emailed Chris to ask for a delivery this morning (and then called a few minutes later because I was curious if they were open on the holiday) and I reached a live person in just a few rings. As my account had not been fully set up yet (again, my fault, not Long's), she reached out to Chris who emailed and then called me back within minutes.
In fewer than two hours from the email I sent to Chris this morning, the technician delivered enough fuel to get us running for the next day or two, knocked on the door to get the furnace going and then knocked again to let us know it was all set, and we had heat again! On a holiday. Unlike the previous company, they did not make us feel stupid for something we already felt bad enough about. We already had and have quite enough on our plates.
We are scheduled to get a regular full delivery tomorrow and we will be on auto-delivery going forward. (We wanted to switch our propane too, but discovered it would cost $150 to get out of our contract and another $150 for them to pick up the tank we rent from them. So that's for another day.)
Thanks for reading this saga... the point is, we have been 100x happier with Long's customer service, efficiency, follow up, timely delivery, and just general awesomeness. THANK YOU Chris and Company!
For many years I have used Long Oil for propane, oil and oil burner service. As oil prices increased to an exhorbitant level, I shopped my oil suppliers and found a more reasonably priced distributor. After switching suppliers of oil, Long Oil terminated my account to service my oil burner. My response is to terminate my propane account. Long Oil cannot be trusted to provide service without spending high prices for oil. I No longer do business with Long Oil.
We've always had fast and friendly service with Cate Zakens for our fuel oil deliveries and furnace servicing. We like them so much that we decided to hire them to install a Trane central air unit... only to find out that Andy Watson-Brink is super knowledgable and as friendly as Cate. Love these guys!
Their technician, Dave, was an absolute pleasure! He quickly replaced an old humidistat, instructing me on his work along the way. His timeliness and great demeanor made for an outstanding service call. Thanks again.
our oil supplier stopped delivering to our area and we found out right when we needed a refill. a friend recommended Long Energy and they came out an inspected the tank and got it filled the next day!
I am very appreciative of your prompt, courteous & efficient service. All of your service technicians, Scott & Jessie, as well as the installers, Mat, Josh, & Joe were truly amazing & the new furnace gave me heat & hot water again within a day. A job well done by all of them. Many thanks.
They came to my house on October 25 and it is not until October 27 that they tell me the “parts of the heat” that they have to fix. Not to mention that although the heat "has a guarantee" I have to pay. The day the technician came, he left me completely without HEAT since, according to him, the problem is dangerous. But I have to wait a week or maybe two weeks for them to come and fix my heat. I mean right now we are in a temperature of less than 40 degrees and my house does not have heat. My daughters and I feeling cold. I only have to wait for them to call me to tell me when they are coming to fix my heat and the total cost of something that has a guarantee but how the guarantee “does not cover” certain parts!…
I cannot give a good or bad review because it is the first time that I work directly with them since I just bought the house. What I did not like was that the technician left me without heat regardless of the fact that I have children in my house… My house is cold right now😭
Update, after that they do a really GOOD job at my house when they change my heat…. I Loved❤️
If you’re looking at an apartment and they are the propane company don’t rent or switch to a different company immediately. They won’t come check lines unless you have money even though it’s the landlords bill. Can’t get a supervisor because you just get told they don’t have one. Disgusted at the rudeness and bull from this company and I’ve only been dealing with them since December.
