HVAC Specialist helped get my AC working again.

Each year I have my three AC units serviced in April ahead of the summer. The company that originally serviced them may have pumped incorrect refrigerant into the system, which caused too much pressure in the system. The high pressure led to the system cycling off and then on every 15 seconds. The original company came back 5 separate times to diagnose and fix it, but they couldn't find the issue and recommended I have an entire new system installed.

I wanted to explore my options, so I had 3 other companies come look at the system, as well provide quotes on a new system. Among the 3 companies was HVAC Specialist. I met with the owner Jay who is very knowledgeable, detail oriented, and explained the mechanics of the system that made it easy to understand. After discussing the issue, Jay proposed we extract the bad refrigerant, test the compressor, and if the refrigerant was a bad mix but the compressor is still good, they can add new refrigerant. I agreed and HVAC Specialist head installer & technician Anthony came and looked at the system the next day. Anthony is professional, very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything that was happening along the way. He extracted the bad refrigerant mix, tested the compressor which registered good/caution, and checked the lines for leaks and there was none. Given the compressor tested good/caution and the unit is 14 years old, it was a borderline decision to add new refrigerant and invest money into an older system versus just replace the entire system. Anthony helped me work through the decision and I elected to add new refrigerant. After adding the new refrigerant to the system and properly testing it, I'm happy to say it is operating without issue.

In addition to helping resolve the issue, HVAC Specialist provided a quote on a new system in the event I did need to go that direction. Jay talked through multiple options with me before sending a quote. Since 3 other companies previously bid on the job, I had a total of 4 quotes. HVAC Specialist quote was in the context of their competitors, so I know their pricing is fair as well.

To sum, HVAC Specialist won a new customer! I found them to be honest, very knowledgeable, good listeners, detail oriented, professional, and communicated well. I will definitely recommend this company.
