The new addition to the store is very well organized. The staff is very helpful, and I got everything I needed including custom Pipe cutting. Done in no time at all

My review will describe the horrible customer service of my local ACE hardware store, 2266 Nostrand Ave in Brooklyn, and it's corporate office. The staff at 2266 Nostrand Ave showed negligence when I asked about the return policy and they never acknowledged it. This consumer complaint has not been resolved and I was met with rudeness by the local store management, incompetence, and bureaucratic delay tactics. ACE's corporate customer service department was no help either.

I was misled about ACE's return policy and was told I could return my items with a receipt before 30 days. I was NEVER told by the store the items must be unopened. I requested a refund and even offered to accept store credit when I returned the "like new" items. My complaint was met with horrible customer service and a dismissive attitude.

My attempts to resolve this at the corporate level were unsuccessful also. I made four phone calls and ACE's customer service department reached out to the store twice. But, ACE's negligence was never acknowledged and I was even misdirected in an attempt to dismiss my efforts. This included telling me to apply to their Rewards Profile program. The 2266 Nostrand Ave store wanted me to go to another ACE hardware store and ask for a refund. These were classic misdirect tactics that are unacceptable. They show a attitude that does not value the customer experience nor value return customers. There was never an attempt to admit poor customer service and resolve the dispute. I feel I made every attempt to resolve this issue with the 2266 Nostrand Ave store and corporate headquarters.

Customers who wish to shop at ACE need to know how poor their customer service, from the local to the corporate level, really is. I hope this review helps customers when they decide if they will spend their hard earned money at the 2266 Nostrand Ave ACE store. I feel customers are better off taking advantage of better return policies at Loews or Home Depot.

Some of the people of the staff are not to polite. Never smile, locks that have bad humor all the time. Must of them , very nice!

My favorite hardware store of all time! Great help, great employees. Always laughter and smiles. People who know what you need and how to get the job done.

Friendly yet informative staff that help the carpentry illiterate like myself find what I need and also explain the steps necessary to accomplish your project.

I've lived across the street for about 15 years so I've been here numerous times. I've noticed a pattern. If you are a contractor or recurring customer you will love this place. The'll treat you right. If you are just a customer off the street you'll be mostly ignored or overlooked.

I admit, my issue with this place is not so much about my experience as a customer but more as a neighbor.

Sometime around 6 or 7am we get woken up by their trucks who are extremely trigger happy with their loud fog horns. Their trucks drive aggressively around the neighborhood. I assume they hire only drivers with experience driving for private midnight waste management. The trucks block off busy streets and direct other drivers to drive on to the pedestrian sidewalk to go around them. But god forbid if you are in THEIR way, they will unleash the loudest truck horns you've ever heard. You will concede as the sound shakes up the whole neighborhood followed by the cries of all the babies that just woke up.

Getting home from work and looking for parking in this area is hard enough. But here's what Corner Hardware does to help themselves at their neighbors' expense.
-They park their trucks in "no standing" zones that are there to help facilitate safe u-turns and to allow pickup and dropoff for the Children's care center across the street.
-It seems that a few years ago they somehow even got the city to take away more parking spots and reserve it only for trucks. They are the only ones with trucks here.
-They take even more parking away by parking their forklifts on the street to reserve spots for their own vehicles.
-When that's not enough they even drop pallets of building material along the street to prevent others from parking there.
-Found parking anyways? that's at your own risk. Their trucks drive so aggressively down this small street I often find cars in the morning with dents or side mirrors knocked off. I even found my own car sideswiped onto the sidewalk. I heard a truck barreling down the block, followed by a bang and then my car alarm went off. By the time I put on pants and got down the truck was gone and confronting management was a complete waste of time. Police marked it down as hit in run but no investigation was done.

Wanna see this with your own eyes? Look at Google Street View. Take a look at E29th -the street behind their store.

During their busy season -around Passover and Sukkot, they're working as late as 2AM. We try to sleep and hear employees yelling or being yelled at, trucks backing up, trucks revving up, trucks honking, and forklifts dropping loads.

One morning I found a large sign outside their store. It was apparently threatening a neighbor that must've put some trash in their bin. It read "WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!". I confess, I've been tempted ever since to dump my own trash in their bin. Too much of a schlep, though.

Before hurricane Sandy, there was a PSA for everyone to make sure everything is tied down and secure. Corner Hardware meanwhile, had pallets stacked up two stories tall. Unsecured. Needless to say There were pallets all over the street by the time the sun came out.

Again, check out Google StreetView for yourself and you'll see the dump of pallets I'm talking about.

Please, guys. I'm happy for your success and that your business flourished so much in the the last 15 years. But either start being a considerate neighbor or move to an industrial part of town. Your main clientele seems to be commercial anyways.
