    We contacted Standard after our furnace began dying. We were coming up on a remodel of our basement, and we figured it made a lot of sense to do the two at the same time, hopefully being able to capitalize on the more open work area.

    I will say that the sales and coordination process needed a lot of work. We had a plan in place, and there was some back and forth on our end, which we own. But once things were set, we put our salesman in touch with our contractor, and things stalled from there. There was some initial coordination, but then our contractor was unable to get a response from the salesman. My wife texted, she got a response initially saying that the salesman would follow up with the contractor, which never happened. Her next text was then ignored. Finally, I sent a more sternly worded text, and that got things in motion. Installation was set for 2 days later.

    Unfortunately the complications didn't end there. When the installers showed up, they had been given next to no information about the project, they were simply told that the unit would need to be rotated, they were told what new items needed to be installed, and they were provided with pictures of the installation area from before construction began. The salesman had been out to the house at the time of the initial contact with the contractor when walls had already been taken down and new walls put up, and he either didn't take updated photos, or he didn't share them with the installation team. They did not have the necessary fittings for the job, and some scrambling was needed to get a hold of them.

    My complaints end there. Once things were in the hands of the installation team, things went great. Team members coordinated handing off of parts to make sure the team had what they needed to get the job done, extra installers in the area came by to assist with the job that was much bigger than advertised by the salesman, and the team stayed longer than they had initially projected to make sure things were done that day as promised. Even once all that extra time and work had been put in, they still took the time to give me a very thorough walkthrough of the new system and new thermostat. It was clear that the team was frustrated with the lack of communication from the salesman, but at no point did I feel any frustration directed at me. They were extremely professional, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

    I personally had more of a 3-star experience when you factor in the frustration of the coordination and the lack of communication from the sales team. But, I'm giving a 5-star review, because a lot of what made it 3 stars for me was very specific to my situation and wouldn't be relevant to the average person trying to decide if Standard is a trustworthy and reliable company. I will just note that if you ARE looking into standard for anything more complex than a simple installation or repair, it is likely to be worth the effort on your end to make sure you are getting regular updates and make sure things are continuing to progress. Operating on the assumption of "they have a great reputation, I'm sure they're on top of this" didn't work out so well for me.

    We were very happy with our complete HVAC purchase and install from Standard. Our sales person provided the information that we needed to select the proper capacity heating & cooling units, and also promptly answered numerous questions we had in follow-up. The installers were exceptional - especially the lead person who provided us with some info on the physical size of the A/C unit which ultimately led to our changing to a different unit. (Note that newer, more efficient, units are significantly larger than old ones, but this information is not clear on any web pages.) The install went very well and I was pleased they asked for input on positioning of the outdoor unit to avoid landscape interference. They also installed a new humidifier and thermostat and provided instructions for use & maintenance on everything before leaving. A final point - only Standard caught the fact that we needed a pump to move condensate to our floor drain, as our older "hose on floor" approach no longer meets code in Minneapolis. We got 3 different bids and the other 2 companies missed this - yet admitted it was required (at a cost!) when we asked later. Standard also carries Bryant equipment, which we had in the past and we wanted again. Bryant requires special training for those doing installs, so not every company carries them. Standard does and that was the final reason we selected them. Our new system is up and running, and our sales person even helped us with a few questions on the new thermostat - 5 stars all around!

    Standard Heating and AC was recommended to us by a friend. We received 3 bids, and they were competitive. Their rep came to the house and walked through the installation process with us, showed us several options, and immediately had a bid. The process was outstanding and incredibly friendly and professional. From there, the staff scheduled everything and installation was flawless. Even a plumber friend of ours commented on the furnace installation. Their installers Standard Heating and AC staff and not contractors, which is amazing. They are definitely like artists. We couldn't be happier with our new furnace and AC. Thank you!

    I have been nothing but impressed with Standard Heating and Air. They replaced my old air conditioner and I have had them continue maintenance on the system since doing so. Chad came this year for the AC spring tune up. He was polite, professional, knowledgeable and honest. I really enjoyed working with him.

    In terms of non-routine calls, last summer my a/c just stopped working one hot Saturday. Standard scheduled someone to come out the next day, ON A SUNDAY! Later that day, I got a call from Jason telling me he finished his jobs early and he could come now if I wanted. I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, the problem ended up to be NOT straight forward. Jason ended up staying for 4 hours. He remained friendly, professional, and thorough. Not once did he come off as frustrated. And, he got my a/c working again before he left.

    My central A/C stopped working last night at the start of a hot July 4th weekend. I called Standard this morning and spoke with Dante. He was very personable and asked some good questions and I was lucky they were able to have Chad come look at my situation the same day. Even though my A/C is likely on its last legs (more than 20 years old) Chad was able to replace some parts, show me some things that were cutting down on the efficiency of the unit and got the old thing running again. Phew! Chad was very professional but also very friendly and willing to talk me through the multiple things that were causing my A/C problems. It turns out years of leaves stuck inside the outdoor unit are not helpful... He answered all of my questions with patience and good humor. I thought the service visit was going to cost a fortune but it was very reasonable. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Chad, Dante and Standard today.
