Only service provider for Xcel Homesmart in the area. They gave me a 5 hour window, and committed to calling me 1 hour before arrival. I took a PTO day just to be available for this and be able to run some errands in the morning. I received a call earlier in the day, no message, I called back multiple times and there was no answer, the answer machine only provided a first name, no company, I had absolutely no idea what the call was about. Towards the end of the service window there was no tech I called and was told tough luck by the tech and the not so helpful customer service lady and was offered another 5 hour window on a different day. I am so disappointed in this service I am paying out of pocket with a different provider to repair my AC and am switching appliance maintenance plans. I have never had such a bad customer experience before. ever. KB Service, you owe me a PTO day and an AC repair.

Zero stars! This place is the absolute worst. Contracted through xcel energy homesmart program but are willing to do absolutely nothing. Had them come out three times and requested for many more, but flat out refused until I paid over $2000. Water heater was backdrafting and they claimed I needed to have new chimney liner installed. Spoke to SEVERAL plumbers including one with over 40 years of experience. A liner is only needed if you remove the furnace because the water heater will not make enough heat to travel the length of the vent by itself. Run away from this place as fast as you can. Xcel energy is also a joke, refuses to do anything, even managers and supervisors won't talk to you for over 5 days. I've attempted to reach them multiple times and still no resolution a full 10 days later.

This company, along with Xcel HomeSmart service is a joke. We waited over a week to get someone out to look at AC. The problem is when they did arrive he gave my AC 15 minutes of his attention to tell me it was junk and I needed a new one. It was "flat" on refrigerant (that's what he wrote on the service invoice, what he told me in person is that it was completely empty), R22 system and we have to replace it because looking for a leak is going to cost you $800 at least and then we have to put in 8# of R22 at $100 plus a pound ... you may as well replace it. First of all, there's a replacement for R22 so he gave no options of switching it over if that was the problem. It wasn't the problem tho, it wasn't "flat" like he said it was. The expansion valve was locked up and after 12 years it was 1-1.5# low on refrigerant, which is normal because no system holds 100% over time. The pressure stayed for days when another tech checked it indicating there was no actual "leak". In the end we paid about $400 to fix the expansion valve and service of the AC they told us was junk. I specifically asked if the techs got a bonus for selling new units and the service manager said no, but I'd bet a new air conditioner that they do. Basically they get paid $142 to come out and tell you they can't fix it but we'll sell you a new unit. For $142 I'd think they could spend more than 15 minutes diagnosing the problem but then they have 101 excuses to why they can't fix it anyway. He told me it's illegal to put R22 into a system, yet they still sell it (he told me I should contact my congressman about that). It's not illegal if you figure out the problem and fix the problem - it's only illegal when you don't fix the problem. I guess they just assume everyone is stupid enough to fall for their scare tactics.

For many years, KB Service has provided great service for my home's HVAC needs, everyone is always so thoughtful and kind, and this year was much the same though with something extra that felt like Grace and absolute kindness in it's rarest form. That was John! There was such a pure, authentic, compassionate, caring humanness in his demeanor and interaction that is missing in our general daily encounters among us all. I am very grateful for not just the expert AC service but also that he reminded me of our capacity to be considerate of and for one another. I will take that forward with my every encounter with others. Thank John for your exemplary service, your precious humanness, and the grace with which you brought to my day. Also a big shoutout to that benevolent lady with the voice who is always music to my ears; your kindheartedness is always reassuring that whatever problem I have, can be repaired!

Thank you KB Service for the many, many years of expertise and outstanding care you continue to bestow to me for the safety and maintenance of my home!

Called xcel to have them look at my furnace to see if it can be fixed or need to replace my furnace. The guy called me back the next day, was rude right off the bat. Asked him if I could have someone out later in the day, he laughed and said they dont work that late. Told him I could try and be home later in the afternoon, he said the guy would call before he came to make sure I would be home, technician never called. Got home and was a note in my door that I missed them. Called there office at 3:20 and no answer. Called xcel and they said they are the only service provider in the area. Wouldnt recommend KB service.

I've only had good experiences with KB service. I've had a furnace installed and two central air units installed. They have always been prompt to come out. They seem like an integrous company.

We have our appliances and furnaces covered by homesmart. K.B. Services fixes gas fireplaces, hot water heaters, air conditioners etc. "Dave" is often dispatched to our home for repairs. He has fixed a hot water heater *80 gallons) which, before homesmart we were having a local plumber do. Dave's fixes "stick". He fixed a gas fireplace which had other service repairmen stumped. He just left after installing a new blower motor in our furnace. We don't often turn on air conditioning, and did so when temps got over 90 degrees. The house didn't cool.

In my opinion, "Dave" is the gold standard in appliance repairs.

    Atta boy Dave.

I also have the HomeSmart plan, and called them about my water heater that's been leaking for a few months. I was outside shoveling snow when the K.B. guy came & left (after about 5 minutes) and he said "Yup, as you suspected, you need a new one. Call Xcel to get the price."

When I was in the house awhile later and went to wash my hands I noticed there was nothing coming out of the hot water spigot. I called K.B. and they had the guy call me from his truck. I asked, "Did you turn off my water heater?" He told me "Yes. I condemned it, so I had to." When I asked why, because it was working fine, just leaking a little, he said, "You can turn it back on if you want, I guess. But I can't come back and do it now that it's been condemned."

Well, THANKS SO MUCH FOR NOT bothering to tell me that while you were here, YOU JERK!!! Nor writing it on the paperwork you left behind, either.

What a yellow-bellied, chicken-livered, downright dirty s.o.b. Was he scared this 59-year-old lady was going to deck him with her shovel?

Buyer Beware: My situation involved KB Service Co. as a sub-contractor to Xcel Energy's HSP. They were called to inspect an A/C Unit that was not working.

They reported to Xcel that the system needed to be REPLACED and shortly after Xcel SALES called to try to SELL me a new unit.

I got a second opinion and turns out the system needed some replacement parts and maintenance.

I will be posting pictures of the HSP Work order and the repair invoice I received from the 3rd party. NOT GOOD!
