Very knowledgeable and professional and friendly!!!! They stopped a carbon monoxide leak that literally could’ve killed us!! Thank you to the tall tech who had the wherewithal to think of our safety

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND *NOT* DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I had them out for a very simple service visit yesterday morning. Guy shows up and is clearly unfamiliar with the system we have in our home (which the company purportedly is certified to handle). We walked him over to our thermostat, and he starts punching at the screen (no differently than me or my wife have done, or anybody off the street might do). Then, he goes to our basement. He does nothing, besides tightening ONE screw on one of our vents (claiming this might be the cause of our issues - which was pure blasphemy). He was inside our home for no more than 15 minutes. Then, he goes out to his van to "write up his report" and sits out there for about 20 minutes, so I decide to walk outside with a check for $75 which was the amount I was quoted for the service cost.

He tells me the cost is $115, including his "labor." When I rightly objected, he had the audacity to retort that he was surprised he wasn't charging us more.

    TOTAL SHAM, MONEY-GRAB JOB.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.

Kyle and Joe did a fantastic job installing our new AC Unit and Digital Thermostat. Professional and very nice gentleman. Show us how to operate the systems, and they did a great job of cleaning up. Will definitely use them from now on for our Heating,Cooling and Electrical Needs.

    General maintenance on furnace
Riley has been out several times over the years. He is very knowledgeable. He took his time to explain what we needed, short term and long term. We appreciated his service. The office staff is also always very pro active, professional, and very nice to work with. Thank you!

My wife and I have been needing a new furnace and AC unit for quite some time now. We reached out to multiple HVAC companies in the area and decided based on pricing, experience, and overall responsiveness to go with Royal Oak Heating. They were by far the best to deal with. Both techs that came on site were top notch. I would highly recommend them for all of your HVAC needs.

I had a service call yesterday to diagnose a problem with my Unico Air Conditioner blower motor would not shut off automatically. The service Tech cycled the system and found no problem. I said that last year it worked sporadically okay but not always. The service Tech never pulled out any tools and was here about 10 minutes. He issued me a bill for $85.00 for a diagnostic/trip fee which was understandable but then he added a $65.00 fee for his 10 minute visit. I thought this fee was excessive so I asked if he could extend a Senior or a Military discount to which I got no answer. I have used Royal Oak Heating over the last 20 years and spent thousands of dollars but my business will be looking elsewhere in the future.

Josh did an excellent job. This company is always fair and reliable. I missed my window of time and they came later to accommodate me. Could not be nicer or better.

    Mixed Review : 5/30/2023
    Positives:
This is the second time in 3 years I’ve used RO Heating & Cooling for my central AC service. Riley was the technician on both my service calls. He was on time, professional, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.

On 7/17/2020 my AC did not feel cold. Riley was there for about 30-40 minutes. He checked the system pressures, furnace air flow, and cleaned the condenser coil. He had me replace the furnace filter. The system stabilized and all diagnostic checks were normal. About 5-10 minutes later, my air was cold again. This may have been because I had the DTE energy interruptible service for my AC unit. Maybe I didn’t wait long enough for it to turn on before calling for service. My total invoice was the $75.00 (the diagnostic/trip fee) only…Very reasonable.

On 5/30/2023 the fan motor on my outside AC condenser unit was humming but would not start. Riley knew what the problem was before looking at it. The capacitor (35+5 mfd dual) had failed and needed to be replaced. He had one in his truck and the AC started working fine 5-10 minutes later. Total time on site was about 30 minutes and he never had to enter my house…Great.

    Questions/Concerns:
For service on 5/30/2023, it was almost a 5 star review. Are these fees and labor overpriced?

The minimum diagnostic/trip service fee was raised from $75.00 to $85.00. Why? I live less than 2 miles from their store (Stephenson Hwy in Troy).

I was charged $106.48 for the replacement capacitor. My local Ace Hardware store sells the same rated capacitor for about $25.00. So I guess the part markup and/or labor is about $80.00 for a 15 minute replacement?

My biggest question/concern is the new $46.25 charge to rinse off the condenser coil with my garden hose. This takes less than 2 minutes! Water only…no chemicals! (About the same price as my 3 month water bill from the city)! I had just cleaned the coil of all debris 2 days before. I did the work of turning on my front water valve from inside the house and dragging my hose from the garage to the AC unit. Why didn't he just tell ME to rinse it off? This same rinsing of the condenser coil was performed 3 years ago, and was included in the diagnostic/trip fee. I feel this charge is totally unnecessary! And how do you come up with the odd $46.25 price??

All work performed was done without an estimate or a quote. It was my fault for not reading the details in the item descriptions before signing off on the invoice.

Total price for this 5/30/2023 service call was $237.73. If I hire RO HC in the future, I will still request technician Riley.

Replaced AC and air handler in the attic. Both Rich and his assistant (I think his name was Dave) were pleasant and helpful. The job was supposed to take three days, it they completed it in two. They were careful to keep my house clean using tarps and shoe covers. I LOVE Royal Oak heating and cooling!!!

Very pleased with the whole process from designing a new system to improve heating and cooling performance throughout our home all the way through installation which was just completed. Kept everything very neat and tidy during the removal of the old systems and installation of three new ones. Professionalism was very high, even small details like wire routing and pvc vent plumbing showed careful attention to detail. They assigned a very knowledgeable team working through a complex installation with me and they came up with several new improvement ideas during the install. A total of 6-8 techs were here for 3 days. All were very polite and nice to work with. These folks are absolutely my go to team for HVAC.
