Great Lakes Ace

One item I was looking for was out of stock, but they let me know when it would be back in stock and took my contact info so they could set some aside for me and call to let me know when I could pick it up.

I seem to be in here twice a week. I work for a big company maintenance department, they sure do have a lot of stuff. Freight Tools, good supplies, store is always clean. I'll be in this week again I'm sure

This place has exceeded expectations for us twice now. Most recently, we purchased a BBQ grill and had it special ordered in a specific color. Alex took great care of us and handled everything professionally while still making us feel like family. We had the same grill ordered at a Lowes right across the street from our house but they weren't able to tell us for sure when our grill would arrive and we weren't confident they got the color selection correct. Ace, however, promised to get it to us sooner than the expected delivery of Lowes and they included free assembly AND delivery. Lowes was not offering free delivery and when asked about assembly, they weren't too sure about it because the item was special order so they just put it in the notes to have it assembled - which we weren't very confident about. Also, on top of free assembly and delivery, Ace offered us a $20 gift card and Lowes did not. Talk about competitive! Needless to say, we made the purchase at Ace and canceled our order at Lowes.

As I said, this wasn't the first time this Ace has exceeded our expectations. The first time was when we had just moved into the area. We got some custom key blanks ordered online so we can have some spare house keys. I made sure to get the right ones but when we got to Lowes (same one as mentioned above, unfortunately), we were told the key blanks were not correct for our house key. I used to work at a hardware store myself (Great Lakes Ace in Waterford, MI) so I knew for a fact those keys should work. I told them to try anyway (on one of the two blanks) and they messed the key up - it didn't work. I went to this Ace in Plymouth with the other blank and guess what? THEY COPIED THE KEY ON THE FIRST TRY WITH NO QUESTIONS AND IT WORKED FLAWLESSLY.

We are seriously blown away with this Ace and the incredible employees who work there. They have proven that a bigger hardware store isn't necessary better. I might have a bias since I used to work at an Ace myself but this store is better run than one I used to work at and this particular store has been able to deliver where others have failed.

They don't know enough to copy a key if you bring them the blank they can only do them from their own stock which they don't carry all keys. You can go to Lowe's for a self service machine if this is all you need.

Best hardware stop I've used. Truly a go to place.

Tried to get some help via the phone. The young man that assisted me was extremely rude and not helpful at all. Thank you Alex for showing me the true colors of this store. I try to shop with the smaller guys when I can, but I’ll cross this store off my list.

Anything you can't find at Lowes or THD, you can most likely find it at ACE. It should be the other way around but this place is my favorite hardware store. Some of their products are little more expensive than the national home improvement stores but they usually carry higher quality products. They carry wide selection of products for all home repairs needs.

I will never shop at this store ever again! The moment you walk in the door you are bombarded with the reeking smells of toxic pesticide and herbicide. On every corner of every aisle and every display, everywhere you turn there’s some kind of pesticide herbicide weed killer. You cannot check-out without standing over bottles of RoundUp. They are literally trying to kill everyone that I walks in the store!! You walk in healthy, you walk out with Cancer!
