CMR Mechanical, LLC

Concerns over a 28-year-old furnace brought us to CMR Mechanical. We emailed for a quote, Andy got back to us the next day, then came out to assess our needs and give us some options. In less than a week Scott, Eric and Charlie were at our home to install our new furnace and water heater. It was a full day of work for them, but when they left we were comfortable in our toasty home.
Each step of the way was handled perfectly. Andy is very knowledgeable which helped us to select the best options for our living situation. The installation crew was friendly and professional, took extra steps to insure the home remained clean and explained what we needed to know before departing...even though they must have been tired.

I approached CMR asking for a bid on moving the home off of gas forced air and onto a ductless mini split due to an aging furnace.

During the estimate, Andy came across as very knowledgeable and pragmatic about building a solution to fit the needs or the project, weighing the available options with his experience in response to vague questions and concerns as a homeowner (albeit a DIY advocate, by no means an HVAC professional) and suggested a solution that clearly leveraged the strengths of his company's experience while meeting what he understood as customer expectations.

In this case, Andy worked through the process of deciding to install a system from Bryant, rather than Mitsubishi (the major brands he said CMR had experience installing) due to its lower minimum operating temperatures with the house moving to ductless mini split as the primary source of heat (our expectations) while giving the estimate. This may seem like an obvious thing for a service company to do, but having gotten other bids for this same project, those companies by comparison felt like they were selling the solution that they wanted to sell, and not evaluating the optimal solution for the needs of the project.

Project management and installation was handled well, Andy making sure that everything was set and decided on starting day, with the crew assigned talking through the final details of installation very clearly and helping making reasoned and informed decisions throughout the entire process. Both Andy and the crew were communicative when necessary, and consummate professionals, addressing the inevitable bumps in the road with the same reasoned and informed approach, offering us solutions but leaving the final decision to the customer and following through -- their recommended solutions were, in all cases on this project, the preferred one, but their flexibility to weigh the options before executing was always appreciated.

Project closure has been handled equally well, with Andy and his crew very clearly wanting a positive relationship going forward should anything go wrong and require them to revisit.

Overall, I would highly recommend CMR Mechanical based on the experience with this project.

Work Description:
CMR installed a new very efficient furnace, air cleaner, humidifier and AC...and removed all old equipment...and added new ductwork for heat vents and cold air returns.

The work went beautifully....any difficulties that arose were dealt with thoughtfully and the end result was better than I'd hoped for. Scott was the team lead and he was great to work with. I was always consulted and things were carefully explained. The job took six days and all the people involved were very very good....truly, I am thrilled with the end result. I really think if this is how they handle a complicated job like mine....they can do any job that comes their way. I whole heartedly recommend CMR!

Andy Bobo from CMR came out to my 156 year old house and did a very thorough analysis of the current heating system. He explained all my options very clearly, and was courteous and professional the entire time, even when my 3 year old daughter insisted on joining the conversation. I use CMR for my professional facilities HVAC work, too. They do great work!

Andy the owner and Charlie the main service guy are an absolute pleasure to work with and extremely honest!!! I have Bryant 90 plus HE furnace that is less than 10 years old and they found out that I was having a heat exchanger problem and they were able to replace under the warranty where another competitor was trying to charge me $700 buck! These guys are TOP SHELF!!!

I had CMR come out on a service call for an AC unit in Ann Arbor. They were very good with communication from the beginning. There was a small hiccup with my system and one of their new technicians but it was handled the right way. Good friendly service.

Charlie was just out to fix one of our three heating systems. Used CMR for years. He did a great job then replaced all of the filters and the humidifier panels which were filthy. All that was needed. Did a great job, on time, with care and professionalism. Could not imagine this being done better than he did. Tom Burnham

I have used CMR Mechanical for many years to maintain my steam boiler. They are very knowledgeable and, at my request, have helped me understand how to maintain it. Whenever I have had a problem they responded promptly. I never feel as if they are pushing me to spend extra money. On the contrary, have helped me figure out how not to have emergency calls in the winter and, in fact, my need to call them in the winter has gone away since we changed what to do during routine fall maintenance. I would recommend them without reservation.

Follow-up to this review posted a few months ago: further work with them has confirmed that they take excellent care of their customers. Their follow-up is exceptional.

I suddenly had no heat last night. I called CMR and they were out by noon. Their technician, Dan, is wonderful. He figured out what was wrong and fixed it! I am so grateful! You can trust that CMR has the expertise to solve problems without just saying, "Oh you need a new furnace."

They stick to their quote, their guys show up when they say they will and they do the job right. I can tell you from experience that you can’t say that about most heating and cooling companies.
