A TALE OF TWO HEAT PUMPS!
After dealing with the same local HVAC company for the past 25+ years who installed 3 Trane heat pumps and two air handlers in my condo, I was faced again with heat pump issues. The noise emitting every 20 minutes or so was deafening. I contacted my local HVAC company, they came 3 times in a 2 week period, each time they were unable to identify the problem, despite some 20-30 videos I provided . Frustrated, I contacted a local HVAC distributor for a recommendation and was given Sila. I called Sila and was able to get an appointment two days later on Friday afternoon. I was thrilled to learn their service is 24/7 and I can say first hand, it truly is 24/7! As luck would have it, Ryan Love was the technician sent. Within minutes of meeting Ryan, based on his experience and his professionalism, I knew I had the right company and the right man! Ryan was able to force the system into defrost mode (which the other company was not able to do) but it remained quiet. The next day, at 6am, it was banging, so I called Sila. I spoke with Lilly who was very knowledgeable and most helpful offering suggestions to help minimize the noise. She booked another appointment for Monday at 7am. Monday at 6:45am, Ryan was there to dissect the issue – not only was he able to force it into defrost mode again, he was also able to hear the issue, which he identified as a defective reverse valve. We discussed my options - repair the existing Trane unit, replace the Trane unit or replace the complete system, heat pump and air handler with Carrier. I was under the impression my Trane unit was under warranty as it was installed in 2016, I later learned the local HVAC Company I had been using never registered the replacement unit so my warranty was not in place. After reviewing my options and Ryan Love patiently answering all my many questions, I decided to have Sila replace my Trane system with a new Carrier heat pump and air handler system. Ryan came on Sunday to take measurements and the system would be installed the next day. The crew arrived at 730am, headed up by the foreman, Tom, along with exceptional technicians Ken & Chris who worked tirelessly all day long outside in the cold and in the basement without so much as a break. Ken and Chris were both polite, professional, friendly, respectful and knowledgeable. Tom took the time to check into duct questions, water exit concerns and electrical upgrades and in all three cases, we were good to go with no additional issues and he explained all in detail. He provided me with updates as the day progressed and was beyond helpful. What a terrific crew this was! Over that weekend, Christmas weekend I might add, Ryan called me with followup questions and provided info about the upcoming inspection, which, went well with no issues. On a side note: my direct neighbor had heat pump issues the following week and as a result of my discussing the Sila service level I had just received with my installation, the following week, my neighbor ordered a new Sila Carrier system!

We called Sila for the first time on a weekend when our eight year old boiler stopped heating our water. They quickly responded. They had to order a part from the manufacturer and were tenacious and diligent at getting the part shipped and installed as quickly as possible. When I had a heating emergency just before the coldest day of the year, Sila responded the fastest. Gaetano quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the necessary parts, and kept the house clean while he was doing it. No complaints about the service!
