We were shopping for oil, and they set up an account with us while we looked for other options. A week later, we receive a bill in the mail for over $700. Without any confirmation or notice, they had filled our tank. Three months later they are threatening legal action even though we asked them to take back the oil and haven't used any of it.

I'm updating my review to 2 stars since as of today the general manager contacted us after reviewing our case. And thankfully they canceled the charge.

I have never had a settlement period (large balance) since I began their recommended payment plan; and I received the same number of deliveries, yet Petro is telling me that in addition to the $2,400 I paid through the payment plan, I still owe $1,947.75 at the end of the year. That means it costs $4,347.75 to heat my house each year. That's absurd. Petro claims to have left a phone message on my home phone, which I did not receive; and there has been no such written notification on any of my bills nor did I receive an email nor notification in my account message area. There is no accountability in Petro.

It was a HOT Saturday afternoon when I realized my a/c wasn't cooling the house. I called Petro Home Services and they had a repairman out within 2 hours. He fixed it within a half hour, and we were good to go. Thank you so much for speedy, reliable service.

My experience with Tech Mike Grant was extremely well yesterday PM when he tune-up oil furnace at one of our Arlington VA rental Home. He is friendly and knowledgeable on the oil furnace ; He clean up the system thoroughly and made detail recommendation for replacements and explained the reason why it was needed.
I wish Mike will return for any future service at Arlington VA.

Petro Staff is very helpful to set up the appointment. The Technician deputed for the work was very knowledgeable and he did the repair work with great caution and effectively. I am impressed to see the skills and their commitment to provide excellent customer service. Thank you very much!

Their billing/accounts payable department is hopelessly confused. Every few months, over the past three years, they begin hallucinating or something and forget to process a bill, then send me a “overdue” bill. It’s tiresome and annoying and who has time for pointless phone calls that fail to fix anything? I don’t know why Petros doesn’t want me to pay them. I would like to go back to McComas or even Hoffberger. Eventually these folks will hurt your credit rating with their sheer bookkeeping incompetence.

We've been a Petro customer for many years. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The technicians are also great. They've always done a good job and their prices are fair. They don't over charge for replacement parts. I would recommend them to a friend or family.

We have had PETRO for a while and this Fall has been a disaster. They claimed our tank - which is in our basement - was vulnerable and refused to deliver oil until it was replaced. It took weeks of back and forth to finally get a new tank from them. They would go several days without returning calls.

When they finally delivered a “new” tank it was completely scratched up and had small dents on the seems including one that was already rusting. It has been 10 days and they still haven’t sent someone to inspect it to see if it is compromised. They tried to just send someone to slap some paint over the scratches and dents.

Then, the ultimate insult to injury! They delivered the first fill-up without us home and the tank leaked from the top at the joint. We came home and the whole house smelled like diesel. They came back and cleaned it up and now we have to wait until a weekday to discuss the problem further.

Extremely disappointed!!!

petros are good people and delivered heating oil to me under $3.00 a gallon in April when the market was close to 4.00-5.00 dollars a gallon.hope the way Russian id10ts are going, i may have to change to electric heat and say bye to Petro, alas !

Petro always does a great job. I called yesterday morning with a problem. The person who answered scheduled a technician for yesterday afternoon. He came at the appointed time and fixed the problem. I have been with Petro since 1882 (38 years) and will stay with them forever.
