It's been about a month and no more issues; although there was no doubt. Michelle and Rick were like talking to friends and they explained everything in a way I could understand. Michelle did a great job at calling me to check in and schedule needed appointments. You won't disappointed when choosing Contemporary Air Systems!
CAS is a first class operation. Over the years they have unequivocally earned our trust. Have always taken care of our HVAC needs and we have never felt like they were trying to “pad” the bill. Michelle handles calls professionally and is very knowledgeable and efficient. I wish all our service companies were as trustworthy and professional. John and Judy Douglas
Once again, Contemporary Air hits it out of the park. They are pros. On time, professional, honest and fair. First - they got ~6 more years out of my 2 HVAC units when another vendor said I needed to replace them. When it was finally time to replace the units, CA was honest, fair and got the job done. Great company.
Rick and his team did an amazing job installing our new HVAC System in our home! Rick was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with! We highly recommend Contemporary Air Systems for all of your Heating and Cooling needs!
A huge thank you to Rick, Michelle and Justin. Our 20 year old HVAC system died during a typical Baltimore July heat wave. Michelle was able to schedule Rick for an estimate the same day I called. He did a thorough analysis of the situation, provided options and worked up a very good estimate. He and Justin were able fix some issues from my old install, install the new system and thermostat a day later, and were a pleasure to talk to. They explained everything thoroughly, and Michelle even visited to take some pics. I am one of those hard heads who hates calling for service, but Michelle, Rick and Justin put me at ease and made me feel comfortable knowing that I had professionals who knew what they were doing installing our system. I would highly recommend the Contemporary Team! They saved the day!
My husband and I are relatively new homeowners and found contemporary air systems through their google reviews. Best decision we have made to sign up to be a yearly member. All of the employees are prompt and professional and they have been wonderful for twice yearly maintenance on our systems. Recently one unit stopped working and they found it before summer and were able to get a new unit in within a few days! Justin is great!
Rick and his 2 man crew just finished installing my new air conditioner a few hours ago and at Rick's suggestion I added an additional return vent into my HVAC system. Rick also found I had an undersized coil installed inside and went out of his way to make sure the proper sized coil given my duct sizing. Those two things alone improved the efficiency of my system. Rick and his wife, Michelle, are the kind of folks you want on the other end of the phone when it's time to spend some money on your home. I requested a replacement for my old 4 ton unit and being young and naive I requested the most efficient (also most expensive) unit currently on the market. Rick and Michelle recommended I make sure the more efficient / expensive unit made sense for my home given the extra cost. After checking into it I found I'd save about $1-2 / month during peak months and would never make back that money in savings. They saved me a huge sum because they knew it was the right thing to do.
These are the folks you want in your corner when it comes time to shell out some bucks on heating and cooling - a professional crew, management who is looking out for the customer and most important pricing that was lower then the competition (and a better warranty!)
UPDATE: I wanted to post a follow-up here. My new AC unit was installed in early April and my electric bills have decreased by almost 35%! In the hottest months (July and August) the it's closer to 50%. At that rate the system will certainly pay for itself well within it's expected lifespan. Really the best part was not having to worry about the AC and our electric bill when it was 100F outside. Best update I've made to my home by far and well worth the cost. I can't think Rick and his wife enough for guiding us through. I just saw my BGE bill for August and thought 'WOW I should go update my review because I saved a big chuck of money in the last 5 months.
First off I don’t usually post reviews but this company deserves one . I inquired about a new heat pump unit and after calling around getting quotes from other local companies who wanted thousands more and made some pretty ridiculous claims I ended up choosing contemporary air Systems . Very happy with the new Rudd system .
Thank you Michelle Fravel for your response, I have updated the pricing throughout my review.
You are correct, I was informed of the diagnosis fee prior to Justin's arrival. I never stated that I was not made aware of this, I was just merely stating that good customer service would be to apply this to the repair.
One saying that I cannot stand is that our pricing is based on the industry standard. My rent increased by 15% over the past 18 months, I never received anything additional for that increase. Just because something is the standard, does not mean that it is morally right to do.
I have no issue paying a higher amount for quality service, but how do you justify charging $124 for 3" of wire and 3 minutes of his time? How do you justify charging 4-5 times the amount that you paid for a supply? I would also not consider a wire to be a specialty tool or part.
I appreciate the work that Justin did. I have no issue with that whatsoever. He did a great job!
In terms of the replacement, just because the unit is 20 years old does not mean that it needs to be replaced. Unless there is something significantly wrong that is not repairable, why would you suggest a replacement???
Anyways, thanks for your service. If you ever decide to place your customers before your bank account, I would be more than interested in hiring you in the future. _______________________________________________________________
I called them because my outside condenser’s fan wasn’t moving even though the unit was running. They came out the next morning. I received a courtesy call from the technician prior to arrival.
The technician seemed to be knowledgeable and personable. He quickly diagnosed the issue, which was a 3 inch wire going from the capacitor to the contactor. It took him about three minutes to replace.
He checked the interior unit and then checked the pressures. He informed me that I was about 2lbs short on coolant. He also gave me some information about the filter.
In total, he spend about 45 minutes at my home. I felt that the service was great and the unit currently seems to be running properly.
The reason for my three stars is due to the price.
I was charged for the following: $125 for the visit $124 for the replacement of the wire $400 for 2lbs
Now, I understand that they specialize in a service and them running their business costs money. However, running a business and overcharging your customers is not a good way to keep a customer or get recommendations.
The $125 diagnosis fee should be applied to the service that is conducted. Now, if nothing is wrong, then I would understand the $125 fee.
$124 for less then $0.50 worth of electrical wiring and 3 minutes of the technician’s time is absolutely ridiculous. You already charged me for him to come out.
HVAC companies can obtain R-22 for around $20-50 a pound. Let’s say, that they pay the highest amount. The Freon that they put in my system, would cost them $100. Why are you charging your customer another $300 when you already charged me the $150 for the visit, another $100 for 3 minutes of his time and 3 inches of electrical cord.
I can purchase 2lbs of R-22 myself for around $90.
In total, I paid $650 for 45 minutes of his time. Do I recommend the service? Absolutely! I felt that they did a great job.
However, due to the exorbitant price increases, I will most likely not use their services again. It’s their loss though, my unit is 20 years old and will most likely need to be replaced soon.
Rick is awesome. He told us what we needed and we agree. We moved into this house in 2019 and right away we called them. I did a lot of research and read the reviews and we liked what we read about Contemporary Air Systems. We tell everyone about them if they ask.
